Chapter 214: Encounter 2

Chapter 214: Encounter 2

One.

Two.

Three.

Four.

Four eggs, one by one, until all were laid. The hen fluttered her wings and flew into a basket beside the woman. Then, her body fell apart and turned back into a pile of jumbled yarn.

Li Chengyi glanced at Huang Wei and noticed that she hadn’t moved, so he continued to wait.

Soon, he saw the yarn-like eggs crack one by one, hatching lively and animated sparrows with black heads and white feathers.

Chirp chirp chirp chirp.

As soon as the sparrows hatched, they flew around the room, constantly dropping bird droppings.

That’s when Huang Wei made her move.

She lunged forward, dashing towards the droppings left by the sparrows.

The bird droppings, which looked like a mixture of chocolate ice cream, were scooped up with her fingers and carefully placed into a metal thermos she’d prepared beforehand.

As the bird droppings kept coming, Huang Wei kept picking them up.

One could see she was very happy.

Li Chengyi, watching from behind, was at a loss for words.

Quickly, two minutes later, when the sparrows had finished, they flew out the window and vanished into the mist.

Huang Wei then wiped off the sweat from her forehead, rose from the ground, and returned to the doorway.

She patted her thermos in Li Chengyi’s direction.

"We’ve got food," she whispered barely audibly.

Li Chengyi stared blankly at the thermos - bird droppings, could they really be eaten?

He could hardly imagine to what extent these people were starving to try eating bird droppings.

He saw Huang Wei gesture towards the other rooms in the house.

He nodded, and after checking that the plump woman on the sofa hadn’t reacted, he quietly made his way towards what looked like a study.

Once inside, he immediately spotted scattered books on the bookshelf.

All the books had white covers with black lettering on the edges. However, the characters were winding and twisted, indecipherable, and his knowledge failed to determine the language.

He reached out, pulled out a book, and flipped through it.

It was completely blank inside.

Li Chengyi frowned and browsed through a few other books, but they were all the same - completely blank.

There was a desk in the study as well.

Below the desk were drawers.

He quickly went over, pulled open a drawer.

Inside were several gray pencils and a plain white notebook.

Li Chengyi picked up the notebook, about to flip through it.

Suddenly, Huang Wei appeared at the door, gesturing to him.

Li Chengyi knew it was time to go.

Picking up the notebook, he quickly left the room, and together with Huang Wei, they tiptoed past the knitting woman and ran out the security door.

The security door closed gently as if an invisible hand were shutting it.

"Run, let’s talk outside!" Huang Wei said in a low voice, taking the lead and sprinting ahead.

Li Chengyi nodded and followed her down the stairs, quickly bursting through the stairwell exit.

They had just left the stairwell.

Huang Wei stopped and looked back.

At the entrance of the stairway, the shape was already blurring, fog rolling out.

In less than ten seconds, the original entrance was blocked by a white wall formed by the fog, effectively sealed off.

"Lucky we got out in time! That was close," Huang Wei puffed out a sigh.

"What would have happened if we didn’t get out?" Li Chengyi asked with a frown.

"Don’t know. We’ve had people who didn’t make it out in time, and then they disappeared," Huang Wei replied.

She took out her thermos, opened it, and dug out a lump to stuff into her mouth.

"This is what we usually eat, do you want some?"

"Isn’t that bird droppings?" Li Chengyi said.

"No, it’s a mixture of chocolate and cream," Huang Wei laughed. "Newcomers always think it’s bird droppings, but it’s actually not."

"Well... this place is really strange," said Li Chengyi, speechless.

"Now, is there anything else you want to see?" asked Huang Wei.

"Take me to the place with the most books here. Also, have you heard about the Blue Book?" Li Chengyi asked.

"The place with the most books is the central library in the city. Blue Book? Never heard of it. But the books in this place are all white, I’ve never seen a blue one," Huang Wei answered.

"Then lead the way."

Li Chengyi took out the safety diagram and compared their position on it.

"This way!" Huang Wei recognized the direction and decisively headed to the right.

But she hadn’t gone far when she abruptly stopped, slowly backing away.

Gurgle, gurgle...

Ahead of her, a gigantic tan ball was picking up speed, rolling towards their direction.

Bark bark bark bark bark!!

A chorus of barks erupted all at once.

It was a huge ball, over six meters high, made up of countless yellow dog heads stuck together.

"Da Xiong! Run!!" Huang Wei’s face turned pale with terror, and she turned to flee.

Li Chengyi, however, did not run along with her.

He walked towards the enormous ball of dogs.

Right hand dangling down, a Golden Sword formed from the congregation of Gladiolus Petals grasped firmly in his hand.

"Facing the unknown, "

"if you don’t attempt to understand, to make contact, then..."

"you will never have the chance to overcome it."

His voice was clear and distinct, causing Huang Wei, still in flight, to involuntarily look back.

"Are you insane!?" Her eyes widened, and her speed slowed involuntarily.

"Madness is one of the forces humans use to overcome fear," he said.

Li Chengyi raised his hand.

’Flower Language Technique: Resilience.’

’Flower Language Technique: Drunken Hand.’

Glittering golden light exploded from his shoulder.

’Brilliant Flash: Dragon Shadow Sword of the Stars!’

Hiss!!!

Golden sword light, driven by a massive explosion, was like a golden laser crossing tens of meters of the street, hitting the huge Da Xiong squarely.

In a flash.

The sword light pierced through the ball of dogs, blasting a massive charred hole in the center, then continued flying towards the distant sky.

The beam of golden light drew a golden trail above the fog-filled buildings.

Da Xiong slowly stopped rolling, settling in the middle of the street.

The barks from all the dog heads on its surface ceased at once, as though someone had hit pause on a video recorder.

Boom!!!

Suddenly, it exploded.

The entire giant dog-ball burst like a massive balloon.

The countless dog heads sticking to its surface shot out in all directions, bouncing around like soccer balls.

They ricocheted crazily between buildings and off the streets, like light, floating yellow dog balloons.

Li Chengyi concentrated the Golden Sword in his hands and swiftly slashed the dog heads that bounded towards him to smithereens.

The burst dog heads all transformed into white mist.

Not a single head could touch his body.

Huang Wei, too, was shielded behind him; not one dog head could come close to the two of them.

She stared blankly, watching Li Chengyi’s figure from behind.

For a moment, she was lost.

Pfft.

The last approaching dog head was chopped up.

The Golden Sword in Li Chengyi’s hands dissipated.

"Let’s go. Take me straight to the library."

He turned around to look at Huang Wei, who was still in a daze.

"You lead the way; we’ll move quickly."

Mist swirled around.

In another corner of Yunshan.

Rainbow Candy walked slowly down the street with a steely face.

At least fifteen minutes passed since she entered this place, yet there were still no signs of escape.

This did not conform to the rules of Flash Appearance of Blind Spot.

This gave Rainbow Candy an uneasy feeling that this place might be completely different from other Blind Spots.

She walked down the middle of the street for a while.

Suddenly, she heard faint noises from within the fog ahead.

’Monsters? Or other Blind Spot Individuals?’ Rainbow Candy narrowed her eyes, paused her steps momentarily, then continued forward.

After about ten meters.

She finally saw what was making the noise.

To her left, at the mouth of a spacious alley, was a fluffy, adorable big yellow dog, licking a puddle on the ground.

Da Xiong also noticed her approach, lifted its head, and blinked its round, black eyes at her in a friendly manner.

Woof, woof!

It barked twice, sniffing the air and curling its lips into an "I’m so cute" expression.

Rainbow Candy walked over and stared blankly at Da Xiong.

"How could there be a Da Xiong here? Haha, you think a mere monster can deceive me?"

Swoosh!

She reached behind her back, pulled out an object, and threw it forward.

She ducked and turned away.

Boom!!!

A massive orange flame engulfed everything.

Da Xiong and the puddle were immediately consumed by the terrifying heat and the blast wave of the explosion.

Boom!

Rainbow Candy was hurled more than ten meters away by the explosion. It took her great effort to stabilize herself on the street.

She got up with an ashen face and looked at the alley entrance, now blown open with a large gap.

She wiped the ash from her face.

"Weak."

Woof! Woof!

Elsewhere.

Big Bear looked at Da Xiong, who was barking happily at him from the mouth of the alley, and his face showed delight.

"There’s actually a Da Xiong here? So cute!"

She quickly walked to the edge of the puddle and looked at Da Xiong.

Plop.

A chunk of raw meat, appearing out of nowhere, was thrown to Da Xiong.

"Here you go, good doggie, eat up. You must be starved, right?"

Big Bear tossed the meat right next to Da Xiong’s paws by the edge of the puddle.

Woof woof.

Da Xiong blinked, looked at Big Bear, then back at the meat at its feet.

Hesitating for a moment, it decided to lower its head to eat.

But before it could get close, it saw the meat touch the water in the puddle.

Sizzle...

Pungent black smoke rose from where the meat met the water.

Before one’s eyes, the clear water of the puddle rapidly turned a faint blue-black color.

Da Xiong fell silent.

Lifting its head, it looked at Big Bear.

"Don’t like it?" Big Bear asked with a smile, "Don’t be afraid. You won’t die anyway. Isn’t it nice to help Sister test the reaction of the medicine?"

Slap.

She produced another piece of meat from nowhere and tossed it to Da Xiong.

The two pieces of meat touched, and a suspicious burning sound ensued.

An eerie, pungent smell drifted from between the meats.

Da Xiong opened its mouth to bark, but soon after, its fur began to change to an ashen color, its eyes and nostrils started to redden.

Blood flowed from the corners of its mouth and ears.

Plop.

Suddenly, its body shrank back, disappearing into the alley, swallowed by the fog, leaving no trace.

"Did the sample with the added hexa-acid work this time?" Big Bear pulled out a notebook and wrote it down.

"Indeed, the strange flower components I got from Brother Cheng are effective against Blind Spot creatures..."

As she continued to jot down notes, Big Bear kept walking forward.

Behind her, in the mouth of the alley, no more sounds could be heard, only faint plumes of gray smoke drifted out.

The two pieces of meat by the puddle spontaneously combusted, turning into two piles of gray ash within seconds, scattering with the wind.
