Chapter 93: Chapter 93 - Starfall Showdown Tournament Part 11

"I knew I recognized your scent! Before that disgusting smell messed up my nose, I smelled someone! Kottbit! It was these guys who did that to us!" Nollto yelled, jumping up and down.

"Heh, seems like the spirits are watching over us after all." Korrbit smiled, looking at a bloodied Luna and Kaitlin barely hanging on.

They both had lost two charges and were on their last one. While they did manage to take one charge off of the two beastmen, they knew they wouldn’t be able to take any more.

"I should have gotten stronger before the tournament." Luna sighed.

Kaitlin was sweating profusely, her breath haggard, and her complexion was not good. "I-I think my arm is broken."

"Just do what you can." Luna charged forward with a ball of maa in her hands. She crushed it into small particles and blew it toward the beastmen and watched as it blew up in their faces.

"You get the injured one. I got this bitch!" Korrbit yelled, coming out of the explosion with his fur slightly on fire.

He clawed at her, but she blocked the attack with a mana barrier, followed up by shooting light magic from her fingertips, only for Korrbit to dodge it swiftly.

"You’ll need to do better than that, weak human!"

Luna curled her fingers into her palm, guiding the arc of light magic as it whipped around and crashed into Korrbit’s back. She summoned every ounce of mana into her hands and drove her palm into the beastman’s gut, unleashing a thunderous explosion that lit the battlefield.

Luna fell to one knee, out of breath after her last attack. Although Luna was stronger than she originally was, thanks to Zion, she never had the chance to fully understand or master the power she was given.

And while she didn’t underestimate her opponents, they were still stronger than what she had mentally prepared for.

"Kaitlin, I am coming to help." Luna got up and prepared to aid her partner, who was getting toyed with by the foxkin.

’Shit! If only my arm wasn’t broken!’ Kaitlin thought to herself as she struggled to keep up with the foxkin’s speed.

She swung her sword but missed as Nollto was too fast. Switching her grip to reverse grip, she tried to stab him, but again, he was too nimble to catch, ducking before her sword could land.

She put mana into her leg and stomped down hard, creating a shockwave that cracked the ground, but that too did nothing as Nollto hopped into the and and tail-whipped Kaitlin in the face, breaking her last charge, eliminating her.

"Dammit Kaitlin." Hundreds of daggers made of mana materialized into the air over Luna’s head, firing toward Nollto at high speeds. They tore through rocks, trees, and plunged into the ground if they missed their target.

"Gotta be quicker than that!" Nollto mocked, dodging her attacks with ease. But as he backflipped away, his body suddenly froze in place.

"What the hell?" He yelled, trying to break free.

’This is why studying is more important than sex.’ Luna thought to herself as she used Aura Force to stop Nollto in his tracks and slam a mana dagger right into his chest, breaking a charge.

"Did you forget about me?!" Korribit asked, slamming into Luna before she could react.

"Agh! Dammit!" She cursed

"Luna!" Zion shouted as he arrived with Valindra.

"It seems my training wasn’t enough. I apologize, Zion." Luna vanished in a bright flash of light alongside Kaitlin, costing their team six points.

"Hahahaha! That’s what you get weak huma-" A lightning bolt that tore through Korrbit’s mouth cut off his speech, breaking his last charge and eliminating him. He wasn’t dead, but he would need immediate medical attention.

"Y-You! You’re insane! Ahhhhh." Nollto tried to run away, but he bumped into Zion, who was already in front of him.

"Wait. WAIT! Spar-"

Zion slammed his fist into his face, completely crushing the ground beneath them as he destroyed Nollto’s last charge.

"Was going that far necessary?" Valindra asked

"There is no limit I wouldn’t cross when it comes to my people. Think about those words." He said, rocketing off to find the rest of his teammates.

Lars huffed and puffed as he managed to defeat Jynbria after a hard-fought battle. She was fast, really fast, but thanks to his patience and the trust he had in his abilities, he was able to beat her, even though it cost him two of his charges.

What he didn’t know was they he just guaranteed the humans at minimum third place.

"Fuckkkkk!" He groaned, falling to the ground tired as fuck.

"Nice job. Here."

"Thanks." Lars nodded, accepting the water that was given to him.

"Wait what the fuck?! Who are you?!" He turned around to see Zion standing there, looking at him with a smile.

"Oh, it’s just you. Almost gave me a heart attack." He sighed in relief, clutching his chest.

"Did you just get out of a fight?" Zion asked

"Yeah, some cheetahkin. She was strong, sure, but that speed of hers was no joke. Cost me two charges just to beat her. Sorry, man."

"Nah, don’t sweat it. I beat four beastmen, and you defeated one; that makes five. This means the beastmen are eliminated from the tournament. You just guaranteed us third place, man."

"Seriously?" Lars asked, standing up too fast, almost losing his balance in the process.

"Yup. So just take a break and relax. It doesn’t matter if you get eliminated or not. I’ll go find the rest of our team."

"Sweet! Also, why are you with an elf?" He asked

"Oh. Valnindra and I teamed up. Well, I guess we don’t need to team up anymore, huh?" He smiled, looking at the elf.

She smiled, getting into a battle stance. "You plan on betraying me now?"

"Maybe."

"Why don’t I help you out with that?" A voice said from above, piercing Lars with a spell that eliminated him and also hitting Valindra in the chest, knocking her into a tree, breaking a charge.
