Chapter 92: Chapter 92 - Starfall Showdown Tournament Part 10

The hour passed, and the next event was about to start. Everyone was in position and was waiting on the tournament officials to teleport them into another artificial fracture where the next event would take place.

"Did you do something to them?" Luna asked, looked at Syrune and Valindra staring daggers into Zion’s back.

"Young love." He answered back.

"Hmm. I get it."

"So you admit that you like me?"

"Isn’t that common knowledge? After I finish my studies, we can be together." Luna answered.

"You know I have a harem, right?"

"That isn’t of relevance to me. I’ll be your wife, so why should I care about other women you’ll just be using for pleasure?"

"Fair point." He nodded.

"Are you ready?" She asked

"Yup. I hope we don’t get sent to a snow biome, though. I hate the snow."

The tournament officials teleported everyone inside the fracture, and the second event began.

After the initial feeling of space warping around him, Zion opened his eyes, and the first thing he saw was a massive forest covered in snow.

"Goddammit!" He kicked the snow, then flew into the air.

’Tes-’

[Scanning.]

"I see you’re already on top of things."

[It’s my job to be on top of things.]

’Like this dick.’ He joked

[Zion, are you stupid? I’m an artificial intelligence, I can’t engage in sexual intercourse, stupid.]

’It was a joke, jeez.’

[Just be patient and wait until my body is finished being built. You’ll be able to fuck me then.]

’Wait, what?"

[...]

’Tessa, repeat what you said.’

[...]

’I command you to repeat what you said.’

[The host’s words are not registering with my database.]

’Nah! Don’t give me that robot speech you bitch! Tell me what you said!’

---

"You’ve got to be joking! Why are you all coming after me? I wasn’t even behind what happened to you all!" Valindra shouted as she ran away from Zyntril and Drivhurn, throwing daggers of light behind her to slow them down.

"Haha! Doenst matter! As long as we get rid of everyone, the person who did that to use the last round will pop up eventually!" Being a bearkin, Zyntril wasn’t affected by the snow and pressed on like normal.

She stomped her foot onto the cold, snowy ground, causing a mini earthquake which threw Valindra off balance.

"Shit!" A vine materialized in her hands, and Valindra aimed at a tree branch to swing herself to safety, but as she left the ground, Drivhurn closed the distance, slicing the vine in half.

"Nice one, Drivhurn!" Zyntril shouted, ramming into the falling Valindra, sending her crashing into a tree, which broke one of her charges.

"Argh!" She cried in pain. But she didn’t have time to relax. Quickly acting, she put a barrier around herself that shielded her from the onslaught of attacks that came from the two beastmen.

"You think that weak bubble will save you from me?!" Zyntril yelled, slamming her fists into the barrier with all her strength

"I’ll shatter that shit like its paper!" Drivhurn smirked

"Paper doesn’t shatter you stupid fuck!" A voice called out as a massive earth pillar slammed into Drivhurn’s chest.

"Look at you, already needing my help. Well, don’t worry, your fiancé is here to save you."

Back in the stands, Queen Melina was losing it, but she was held back by the others once more.

"Zion?" Valindra asked

"That’s me." He smiled.

Zyntril growled lowly, sniffing Zion’s scent. "You look strong, human."

"A bearkin huh? Damn your tits are big."

"Haha! I see you like big breasts as well! You have good taste, human. Shame that I’ll have to eliminate you now. We can have a feast together after this tournament is over."

Zion nodded. "I’d like that, but it’s you who will be eliminated."

"I like men who are confident. But being overconfident will get you killed."

"Use your own advice."

"Hahaha! Very well, let’s see how strong you really are!" She partially transformed into her animal state, her legs, arms, and face slightly altering to that of a bear.

Her attacks were more brutal than before, each strike laced with power and precision. If she were up against any other combatant, they would have definitely been overwhelmed, but for Zion, this was barely a warmup.

Catching her paw mid-strike, he twisted her arm and punched her in the gut, shattering one of her barrier charges.

"Great Spirits! You are strong, I admit. It seems I underestimated you. I won’t make that mistake again."

"Indeed, you won’t." Before she could even react, Zion appeared behind her, knocking her to the side with concussive force, shattering another barrier charge, but he wasn’t done. Once her final charge activated, he struck her again, destroying her last charge.

"Aghhh. It seems I was the one who was overconfident. What is your name, human? I’d like to spar with you once more!"

"Zion Zagan. I’d like to get to know you better as well."

[To fuck her that is.]

’You know me so well.’

"Hahahaha! I shall see you next time." Zyntril laughed before disappearing.

Zion also eliminated Drivhurn, getting rid of two beastmen back to back. After that, he approached Valindra.

"What? You’re gonna eliminate me as well?" She asked, her tone slightly showing her anger.

"Nope. Let’s team up."

"Seriously?" She asked, not believing him.

"Yup."

"But we have to fight against each other to qualify."

"We’ll just get rid of the beastmen, and then we’ll automatically qualify. Easy."

"Whatever. Help me up." She raised her hand, and Zion pulled her up.

"So, about this fiancé thing. Am I really engaged to you now?" He asked, walking with her to wherever they end up going.

"Sort of, but not really. You see, you aren’t officially my fiancé, the kiss isn’t definite."

"What do you mean?"

Valindra sighed. "Only people who express their love for each other can kiss on the lips, excluding family members. So when that happens, it means that you’re ready to commit to each other for the rest of your lives. So you become engaged and eventually marry."

"That’s dumb. What about if someone you don’t like kisses you?"

"Well, if that happens, the kisser would be taken into custody. If they have influence, then there is a waiting period."

"Waiting period?"

"You’ll be given ten years to get to know and learn about each other. It’s a period of time to build the relationship before officially being engaged. If one or both don’t like each other, then nothing will happen. If they do like each other, then, well, I’m sure you can understand the rest. During this time, background checks will be run on both sides, and the parents of the parties will see if whoever is getting engaged is worthy of their child. There are also ways for the engagement to be annulled, like if the Queen demands it, or if an important figure files a valid complaint. There’s more, but you get the point."

"I see. I understand why you would be upset then. However, that doesn’t explain why you acted the way you did toward Lidia. I can understand being angry at me, but acting like that toward Lidia wouldn’t make any sense, unless you plan to stay engaged to me."

She looked down and blushed slightly but quickly regained her composure. "I talked with my mother before this round started. She’s upset with you. I’m still mad at you as well, but I’m working around those feelings."

"I bet."

"And she introduced me to your mother. Turns out that they are friends. So, for the background check, you passed that with flying colors, being the son of the most important noble in this human kingdom."

"I’m feeling like a ’but’ is coming."

"But you’re not an elf and aren’t used to our customs and traditions. Also, we don’t know each other, and you didn’t kiss me with the intent to marry me."

"Yet you still want don’t want to cancel the engagement? What, did my charm influence your mind?"

"Out of my 103 years of life, you are the most handsome human I’ve met. Wouldn’t you accept marriage from a beautiful woman with no strings attached?" She asked

"Yeah, you’re not fooling me. I bet you have a marriage candidate back at home whom you hate, and you’re using me as a scapegoat so you don’t have to marry him."

She smiled wryly, looking down at the snowy ground. "Is it that obvious?"

"No, just cliche. That’s the type of shit you read in novels."

"Well, you’re right. I don’t want to marry that guy, and you can tell I don’t like him if I would rather marry a human, no offence."

"None taken. I kind of like this love triangle story. Use me as you wish."

"Really?! That’s great! When you have the time, come visit me in the Alfheim so we can make things official!"

"Aren’t we moving a bit too fast?"

"Trust me, we aren’t moving fast enough. When I tell you I hate that man, I really mean it."

"And what about Syrune?" He asked

"Ahh. She’s a bit more reluctant than I am. She never planned on getting married and wanted to dedicate herself to being the most powerful ranger the elven kingdom has ever had. But after I told her about my plan regarding you, she became hesitant to annul the engagement. She’s my closest friend and she’s followed me around since childhood."

"Well, don’t worry, I’ll take care of you both. And if she accepts me, I can help her achieve her dream."

"How so?"

"Do you think you can beat the dragon contestants in a duel?"

"No." She shook her head.

"Well, I believe I can. And I’m not talking bullshit. I don’t want to spoil things now, but just know I have a way to beat the dragons, and it’s not some cheap trick. It’s just me and my own effort and strength."

"Ohh? You’re implying that we Elves are going to lose next round."

"Small sacrifices have to be made to witness greatness." He laughed

"Well, if Syrune and I accept you as our husband, you’ll teach us this power?"

"Yup. All of my people have this power. My mom, aunt, sisters, Lidia, everyone. I’m sure you noticed how strong my mother was, right?"

"Yeah. She’s at the transcendent stage. I couldn’t even believe it, to be honest."

"Well, she got that strong because of me. She was already at the Supreme stage by the time I was born, but her current strength is because of my efforts."

"I’ll look forward to your fight then. However, if you disappoint me, then I won’t bother interacting with you again."

"Deal."

"AGRHHHHHHHHHHH" Out in the distance, a gut-rechting scream caused snow to fall from the treetops, alerting Zion and Valindra.

"Let’s go." Both of them raced in the direction of the scream to figure out what was going on.
