Blade of the Goddess -
Chapter 236
Chapter 236: Chapter 236
After reaching the Mystic stage and getting a power increase from Erebosa, Zion didn’t think he would have trouble fighting against the other Divine Apostles, especially after killing one already.
So, when he started fighting Sylveth, his mindset was the exact same. However, there was one thing that changed the playing field. The Ancient relic Sylveth had.
Zion easily eclipsed the wolf in power and could kill him with the swipe of his hand, but the medallion of power was different. It didn’t just give the wielder more power, but it also had them adapt to the power of the person they were fighting against, making it a very valuable relic.
Because of this, Sylveth was actually able to put up a challenge against Zion.
"Come on, Zion! Don’t tell me that’s all you got?!" The wolf punched Zion hard, the shockwave sounding like thunder.
Zion grunted, but didn’t waver. He used aura force to pull in Sylveth, punching him back with even more force.
"Agh! I see you still have some fight left in you! Show me the rest of your power!" Sylveth charged back in, not wasting a single moment.
Zion frowned. ’This guy is just out for blood at this point.’
[Says the guy who slaughtered thousands of angels.]
’Fair.’ Sylveth attacked, but Zion dodged, kneeing him in the face, then blasting him with laser vision. NovelFire
[That relic keeps boosting his power. Soon, he’ll be at your level.]
’I know. He hasn’t even used his apostle form yet.’
Sylveth lunged at him, but Zion kicked the wolf back to the ground.
’Hmmm. I’m going to test something.’
[What is it?]
’Ancient relics can’t be used at their full potential until their wielder is in the mystic stage. So what if I force him to expend more energy than he can take?’
[Overloading him!]
’Exactly!’
[How do you plan on doing that?]
He smirked. ’Watch and learn.’
"Hey, mutt! See if your stupid medallion can match this amount of power!" Zion activated every ounce of his power, no matter how small it was. Even Aryah joined in on the action, merging with him to increase his power even further.
By the time Zion completely transformed, he was surging with so much power that it was felt from across the land.
’Holy Cernunnos! How can a person have that much power?! No! I can do this! I won’t back down! My people need me! Lord Cernunnos needs me!’
And so, Sylveth activated his apostle form as well.
His skin turned to fur, and he grew in size. Normally, when a beastkin transforms, they would become the animal they belonged to; however, in Sylveth’s case, he became a lycanthrope instead, standing up on two legs while fully being a wolf. To top things off, the medallion powered him up even further.
"Now," His voice boomed. "I’ll put an end to this!"
Zion laughed. "I’d like to see you try!"
The two charged at each other and clashed fists, the explosion vaporizing everything in sight.
Zion clutched the wolf by the throat, dragging him against the ground as he flew at super speeds. Sylveth hicked Zion off, but he flew back, grabbed Sylveth’s tail, and punched him in the face.
"AROOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Using one of his abilities, Sylveth summoned the whole animal kingdom to attack Zion.
"Using your pets now, are we?" Floating up in the air, Zion easily lasered every one of them to death.
But Sylveth used that moment to slash Zion’s back, drawing blood. He grabbed Zion’s head from behind and crushed it into the ground, then kicked him up in the air, followed by what would have been a strike to the ground, but Zion flipped around mid-air and clobbered the wolf right in the snout.
"Gotta do better than that! Your breath can only knock down straw houses, not my fists, which are made out of bricks!" Zion delivered a combo of punches that took Sylveth higher and higher into the sky until he collided with the dome.
The kinetic energy pushed him back down, which led to Zion’s spinkick to the back, and he played tennis with the dome using Sylveth’s body.
"Enough!" Sylveth shouted as his body exploded with more power. The medallion was working overtime now to keep up with Zion’s strength, and just like Zion expected, it was too much for the wolf to bear.
"Hey, there, mister big bad wolf. Someone is getting angry. What? Can’t keep up? Use that medallion of yours. I bet it will help you out." Zion pulled out the staff of magic and rained down fire meteors on him.
"You may have two ancient relics, but I have the power of a god and the medallion on my side!" Sylveth shouted, flying toward Zion.
But right before he could do anything, his body did a factory reset, and he fell to the ground.
"Bro’s system just crashed haha! System reboot failed headass." Zion flew down and landed on Sylveth’s head, crushing it in the process, and grabbed the ancient relic.
Because the relic wasn’t in a temple, he didn’t have to go through the process of doing a trial and meeting the old hero. Instead, the relic automatically resonated and bonded with him.
"Nice! Two more to go! I can see why this is a must-have when I fight the gods." He didn’t even activate the relic, and he could already feel how much power it gave him.
"Well, time to head back. It was fun while it lasted, I guess. Not really, this was pretty boring. I wonder if the others are having fun."
[Ginger and Aurora finished their fight, Lacey, Alice, and Lidia are almost done with theirs. It was a wash, not gonna lie.]
"What do you know about that terminology? I’m impressed."

"Nah, you don’t hang out with me enough. And you still haven’t completed your body."
[It’s done, but I have some upgrades in mind.]
"Already? Can you just upgrade it now?"
[The sentinels.]
"You sly dog. That’s genius. I approve."
