Chapter 106: Chapter 106 - Attack of the Demons Part 6
The moment Zion was snatched by Gonrod, he used the chip in his head to telepathically communicate with his mom and aunt, telling them to wait for his signal.
He had put all his faith in his healing body, and thankfully, it paid off.
Once the laser thinned, then eventually subsided, everyone who was at the ascendant stage or higher rushed in for an all-out attack while the rest went to fight the enhanced demons and demonic humans.
"Go, Zion! To the academy!" Raven yelled.
"On it! Put everything into the thrusters!" As his suit created many spots for propulsion, Zion went all out then rocketed off toward the academy.
"After him!" Gonrod yelled to Anastasia.
"You’re mine!" She licked her lips and then chased after Zion.
---
Zion’s breath came in ragged bursts as he flew, the pulse of mana powering his suit. Ahead, the royal academy loomed, but Anastasia was a shadow at his back, closing in with unrelenting speed.
A blood spear shot through the air, striking his shoulder. The pain flared like fire, but Zion twisted, pulling himself upward with a rope of mana, which made it easier for him to maneuver when combined with his suit’s rocket propulsion. He shot forward, leaping across a gap, the city blurring around him.
Anastasia was fast, faster than any human, and her laughter echoed in the air as she appeared before him in a flash of blood magic. He barely managed to dodge the whips of blood that followed, leaping again and summoning another rope to yank him out of the path of a second spear.
He surged forward, but she was right there, closing in. Another spear of blood shot past his ear, and he twisted, using the rope to change direction mid-air. Zion barely managed to avoid the next attack, her blood magic lashing at him like a serpent, but his momentum was still strong.
He pushed harder, faster, summoning ropes of mana to pull himself across walls, across rooftops. He twisted his body in impossible angles, narrowly dodging blood blades and spears that followed his every move.
Anastasia’s form flickered behind him, growing closer with each step. She spoke, her voice a cold promise. "You can’t escape."
But Zion was already at the gates. His feet hit the ground in a final, desperate sprint.
He made it.
Once on Academy grounds, he turned around, blasting the vampire in the face with as much energy as he could.
While it wasn’t enough to kill her, he was enough to throw her off for a bit, giving Zion time to place a barrier around the entire school.
"You little rat! Get back here!" She yelled, banging on the barrier with all her might.
Zion ignored her, entering the academy and using a holo-map that directed him to where his people were. He ran down flights of stairs, entered secret rooms, and got lost along the way here and there.
"Fuck! This school’s layout is so stupid!" He stomped on the ground, using earth magic to cave in the floor and blasted downward toward the First Headmaster’s tomb.
"Ginger!" He yelled, breaking through the earth and entering what looked like an underground ecosystem with demonic humans and low-ranking demons fighting against Zion’s people decked out with high-tech weapons.
"Zion! You made it!" She yelled, flying over to him and giving him a peck on the lips.
"Where’s the relic?" He asked
"Behind those doors. We’ve been holding them off, but they suddenly got a lot stronger. Thankfully, we’re still able to hold them off, but I won’t deny that we’re losing ground."
"Can you get those doors open?" He asked.
"Actually, they already are. When we arrived, they had opened the door and were about to enter, but we managed to stop them from doing so."
"Great! Keep fighting, everything will be over soon." He flew toward the slightly cracked open door, pushing it open with his aura force, then closing it when he entered.
"Fuckkkkkk! This is not how I imagined obtaining my first ancient relic." Zion exclaimed, finally able to catch his breath for a bit.
In the dark room, there was only one thing allowing Zion to see without any aid, and that was the large golden glowing sword radiating a shit ton of power that even made it hard to breathe.
"This is it. Once I claim this weapon, I will have taken my first step to killing the gods!" There were butterflies in his stomach. He was nervous, anxious, and super excited.
He took a deep breath and focused his mind. Then, he grabbed the weapon.
Everything shifted. The world changed, space altered, and his mind blanked. When he woke up, he was in a grassy field with the sun shining brightly.
He looked around and saw a man sitting on a chair. His face was obscured, but his power was real.
Another thing he noticed was that he was in his soul form, the same form he was in when he met Luminera for the first time.
"So you have come to claim the Sword of Forms?" The man asked
"I have," Zion answered
"I see. It has been a while since anyone has tried to claim this weapon. Most wanted it for their own personal gain, to rule the world, kill a powerful foe, or fuck a bunch of women. Why do you seek this sword’s power?"
"Why do you care?"
"Heh. I’m the sword’s previous owner, the hero of humans. Gustall Nokon."
"Ahh, one of those guys who fought against the demons 10,000 years ago. That’s cool, I guess."
"What? That’s it? No praise? No shock? No...No nothing?"
"Well, sure, we learn about you in history class, but everything that went down was so long ago that you’ve just become a legend, and people only care about your weapon. People used to think demons were just a myth until recently. You just fell under the effects of the passage of time." Zion shrugged.
"Motherfucker. I told that Elf bitch not to put our souls in these relics and just let us reincarnate normally."
’Hmm? What does he mean reincarnate normally?’ Zion wondered
"Well, anyway, since you’re here, I’ll have to put you through three trials. If you pass, you can claim the sword; if you fail, you’ll die. You can back out now if you want."
Even though Zion couldn’t see his face, he was sure that there was a smile on it, a smile that he wouldn’t like to see.
"How about I do this instead?" Zion held out his hand, and a crest appeared on it, Luminera’s crest.
"W-What?! You’re an apostle of Luminera? How? We killed her-" He paused, placing his hand over his mouth, realizing what he said.
The world rumbled. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! GUSTALL NOKON YOU FUCKING BASTARD!" A female voice called out as a woman appeared next to Zion.
"L-L-L-L-Luminera! H-How are you here?! How are you alive?!" He fell on his butt, shivering with fear.
"If you planned to kill a God, you should be more thorough with your execution." She waved her hand, and the entire world shattered.
"Hello Zion." Luminera greeted Zion with a beautiful smile.
"Showing up after 18 years, huh? Forgot the milk or something?" He joked
"What?"
"Nothing, nothing. It was a joke back in my previous world. Anyway, what are you doing here?"
"Didn’t you summon me?" She asked
"What? No. I was just planning on using your power not to take that trial. I don’t have time for that shit."
"Haha, I know. I was able to descend here because the relic is tied to my power." She admitted.
"What do you mean?"
"While I wasn’t the one who crafted these weapons, I was the one who gave them life and power. I am connected to these weapons, so when you arrived in Gustall’s soul world, I was able to come as well."
"I see. I’ll ask about all the other details later, just help me claim the weapon. I have a demon to kill."
"I like your spirit." Luminera waved her hand, and a golden ball of energy formed in her hands. "This is the key to wielding the ancient relic. It’s what allows for only one person to use its power at a time. You can call and recall it at any time, so it’s never an extra burden to carry around. Once this enters your body, the sword is yours, but to wield its full power, you’ll have to fully accept my divine power, completely becoming an apostle. And even then, you’ll need to get stronger to tap into its full potential."
"I’m ready. I’ve been waiting for this moment. Besides, I was going to announce myself as an Apostle once I got my hands on the relic anyway."
"Good. Clench your teeth." She smiled
"What, why?"
He got his answer as Luminera literally punched him in the face, which sent a jolt of divine energy coursing through his body. He blacked out in an instant.
