Chapter 105: Chapter 105 - Attack of the Demons Part 5
Grunts and groans of pain cried out as the majority of the people aiding with the barrier collapsed to the ground, unconscious, vomiting, hands shaking from intense pain, or the sheer strain of having their mana reserves almost be emptied out.
"W-Wha-What was that!" Zircon coughed out, his hands red from his blood, and his complexion white as snow.
"That’s a power no mortal should have." Drakoth stood there in shock, his hands already healed, but still coming to terms with what had just happened.
Everyone else was just as shocked as they were; some were so blown away that they stood there foaming from the mouth because never in their life had they experienced something of that caliber, and their minds simply couldn’t comprehend it.
"I think worrying about that is the least of our problems, look." Zaleena pointed.
Inside the barrier, Anastasia was seen regenerating, her body going from a brown, charred, grim-looking creature, back to her blood-red-headed headed beautiful self.
But her face said it all. She was angry. She wanted to retaliate, gut everyone there and feast on their blood, but she didn’t because she could feel it. Everyone could.
They all could feel the immense pressure the cocoon gave off as it finally completely shattered, releasing the demon they had tried so hard to stop from descending.
"How?! How did the laser not do anything?! Is the demon that powerful?" Zion asked, shocked that his creation, something that would tip the scales in this world, had failed.
[Not necessarily. The laser struck the cocoon, not the demon.]
’Tessa, if the laser couldn’t break a simple cocoon, then imagine how powerful the being coming out of that cocoon would be!’
"Lord Gonrod! You’ve awoken!" Anastasia bowed in his presence. Even though she herself was a high-ranking demon, he was on a higher scale than her.
Gonrod looked around, his mind adjusting to being in the middle world after Mileina.
His skin was dark grey with black scales on his shoulders, arms, and parts of his chest. His eyes were yellow with a black slit iris. He had horns that extended slightly backward and ears that looked akin to some marine life. Even his hands were webbed.
"Interesting." He muttered, summoning a sword with a black hilt and a yellow blade. In one quick motion that was too fast for even Zion to register, he sliced through the barrier like it was paper, the force of the action so powerful that the shockwave still sliced through mountains miles upon miles away.
He took a single step, and the world screamed.
Reality groaned beneath him as space itself cracked, fracturing like glass under his heel. He wasn’t flying. He wasn’t descending. He was walking, one deliberate stride at a time, using the very fabric of space as a staircase. Each step left behind a ripple in the air, a distortion that shimmered and pulsed before vanishing into silence.
"You stand before me, yet you do now bow?" It was as if the world was engulfed in his power as he spoke those words, forcing everyone to their knees.
"Gonrod." Drakoth cursed, the only one able to withstand the pressure of Gonrod’s power.
"Little boy Drakoth. You’ve grown, yet it seems you still don’t know your place." He held up a finger, and a black energy mass grew. It wasn’t demonic energy, it was water, black water.
Drakoth protected himself just in time because if he was even one second late, the black water that moved faster than light itself would have pierced through his head in an instant. Even then, Drakoth was still injured, and his arm was bleeding.
’What the fuck?! Drakoth was injured by that demon! Is this the power of a high-ranking demon?! We’re so fucked!’ Zion thought to himself
"Where is our army?" He asked Anastasia
"Most of our forces have been wiped out by some strange power. If it wasn’t for my strength, I would have died as well. The rest who survived are fodder."
"Even fodder has its purposes." Gonrod raised a finger, and every demonic human and demon was strengthened by ten times.
"And who was the person who wiped out most of our forces?" He asked
"Him!" She pointed to Zion. "He has some weird weapon that can negate demonic energy and mana! Olzak warned me of it, but I never expected it to be that powerful. He’s also the one who made that barrier you destroyed."
"This boy?" He raised a hand and Zion was sucked into Gonrods clutches.
"Agkkk!" Zion tried to pull Gonrod’s hand off his neck, but he was too strong. So he resorted to the next best thing, attacking.
’Maximim power, Tessa!’
[Enhancing mana output to EX]
He stuck his hand in Gonrod’s face and blasted him with a beam of energy so violently powerful that no human would survive. But Gonrod wasn’t human.
"How amusing, your strength isn’t half bad. You’ve managed to ruffle my hair."
Zion couldn’t believe what he was seeing. The man had no scars, no bruises, no burns, no damage whatsoever. Not even his hair was burned. The only thing Zion did was slightly blow his hair as if his attack was an overglorified hair blower.
"Where is the relic?" Gonrod asked
"Over there in that building." Anastasia pointed. "We have a team working on extracting it."
"Good. Let us make our way there." Gonrod placed a hand on Zion’s chest, and a beam of black water pierced through his heart.
His mana couldn’t protect him. His Strength couldn’t protect him. Not even his suit could protect him. In front of Gondrod, Zion was an ant, and Gondrod was the person who stepped on him.
But everyone didn’t move. They didn’t react. They stood there, watching as Zion fell from the sky.
Zaleena and Raven wanted to jump in. They wanted to save him, but they knew not to. They had to wait.
[Message relayed]
"NOW!" Zion yelled as his heart healed.
Then there it was, another powerful laser strike that directly hit Gonrod at full power.
This time, Anastaisa wasn’t affected, but she still backed away to avoid being hit.
Zion’s barrier reappeared and protected everyone from the wave of energy that would have come their way.
And finally, Gonrod was seen taking damage from the attack as he was forced to the ground, barely able to stand up.
