Kay Forrest nodded: "Okay, I admit defeat, but are you sure that’s a human stomach? Feels like it’s bigger than a cow’s appetite."
Jane Quinlan pouted: "If you ask me, you civilized folks are just too fussy.
I can’t believe you can be full with just a tiny piece of steak, some pastries, and some shrimp.
If a woman like me can’t get full, how could a big guy like you be satisfied?"
Kay Forrest was at a loss for words, she really was good at making excuses for her big appetite.
"So, you’re sure you’re full now?"
"Of course."
"Then let’s go," Kay Forrest stood up.
Jane Quinlan stared at the leftovers on his table: "Not eating anymore? There’s still some left."
"You want to take it away?"
"Can’t we do that here?" Jane Quinlan asked somewhat embarrassed.
Kay Forrest laughed and gestured to call over a waiter: "Pack these up and bring them to my car."
"Yes."
As they were leaving, Jane Quinlan noticed that he hadn’t paid the bill.
At the entrance, she asked him, "Don’t we need to settle the bill?"
"I’ve paid already, let’s go."
He saw her to the car, and the waiter respectfully delivered the packed pastries and saw them off.
Kay Forrest asked her, "Where do you live? I’ll take you home."
"I’m really basking in your glory today. The roads aren’t congested now, and the buses aren’t crowded, just drop me off at a bus stop, I can take the bus home."
"What’s the matter, afraid I’ll eat you up if I find out where you live?"
Kay said, glancing sideways at her sitting in the passenger seat: "I’ve shared a room with you and didn’t do anything, right? You’re not my type, rest assured."
"You’re not my type either, okay?" She was quite annoyed: "I live in Block 5 of Chenfang Road neighborhood."
She was clearly reluctant to trouble him, but he loved to make things hard for himself.
"Chenfang Road? That’s quite far from where you work."
She turned to look at him: "You know where I work?"
He smirked: "I was your boyfriend for three days, how could I not know?"
"I didn’t tell you, though."
"You mean to say that your parents wouldn’t tell me?"
Only then did Jane Quinlan realize, so that’s what it was.
She suddenly felt like chuckling.
Lucky for her parents selling her out, otherwise, they probably wouldn’t have met again.
Thinking this, her mood became very good.
"You live so far away, is it convenient to get to work?"
"Getting there is convenient because it’s the starting station for the bus, so I always get a seat.
But going back is not so convenient, you generally have to stand for an hour and a half before getting a seat.
But I’m used to it."
Used to it? It would be fine not to get used to such a lifestyle.
Since he was driving and it wasn’t rush hour, it only took him forty minutes to drop her off at the entrance of her neighborhood.
He had no plans to go in, nor did she invite him.
After getting off the car, she leaned over the car window to wave at him: "Thanks for bringing me back today, and for dinner."
Kay Forrest looked into the neighborhood, all six-story buildings.
The main gate of the neighborhood was wide open, anyone could enter.
Vehicles inside were parked haphazardly everywhere, and there were street vendors outside the gate.
He was somewhat amazed, wondering how one lives in such a place.
Seeing him examining the neighborhood, she nudged her mouth: "It’s late, you should go back."
Kay Forrest raised an eyebrow: "Go inside then, see you tomorrow."
Jane Quinlan waved goodbye and turned towards the community.
However, she hadn’t walked far when it dawned on her, see you tomorrow?
Hissing, she turned back and saw his car had already driven far away.
What did he mean by see you tomorrow?
Oh right, she hadn’t paid him back today.
But... did she forget to get his contact information again?
She knocked on her head with her hand, despite not being old, why did she always forget important things.
The next day, everyone at the company was doing a big clean-up.
After putting down her bag, she joined the group cleaning.
She walked up to Daisy Zenith and asked, "Why is everyone so diligent today?"
"Didn’t you check WeChat last night? The boss said the new BOSS is coming to the newspaper for a meeting today, we have to come early and clean up to make the office look brand new."
Jane Quinlan went straight to sleep last night and didn’t look at her phone at all.
No wonder everyone came so early today, she thought she was late, but it wasn’t the case.
After cleaning, everyone returned to their seats to prepare for the day’s work.
However, today the office was fully staffed, even the reporters who went out for news gathering didn’t leave.
