Chapter 395: Chapter 208: You’re Transferred to be an Assistant in the President’s Office at Skyward Group_3
Around ten in the morning, the manager walked in from outside, clapping his hands: "Come, everyone, let’s gather our attention over here."
Everyone turned their heads, and the manager exclaimed excitedly, "The new person in charge sent by Skyward Group is here, let’s all stand up and welcome him."
Everyone in the office stood up and clapped along with the manager.
Outside the door, a man in a royal blue suit walked in, stepping in exquisite black leather shoes.
Two other executives from the newspaper, the chief editor and the finance manager, followed him in.
Everyone in the office continued to clap, except for Jane Quinlan, who froze.
Kay... Kay Forrest?
Her heart raced, suddenly understanding what he meant by "see you tomorrow" last night.
Kay Forrest spotted her immediately among the crowd, smirked at her, and then swept his gaze across the entire office.
The manager raised his hand, and the applause stopped. Kay Forrest introduced himself to everyone.
"Hello everyone, my name is Kay Forrest. I will be responsible for everything at MetroTimes from now on.
Let’s collaborate well in the future, and I look forward to working with all of you."
Applause rang out again, but Jane Quinlan remained in a state of bewilderment.
After the brief introduction, Kay Forrest took the newspaper’s manager into his office.
Shortly after, the HR manager was summoned into Kay Forrest’s office.
Then the finance manager, the chief editor, the managing editor...
Jane Quinlan watched as one by one, everyone entered Kay Forrest’s office, introducing themselves, even office staff went in.
Finally, it was her turn.
When she pushed the door open and walked into his office, she didn’t realize her expression was that of extreme awkwardness.
All she knew was that she was standing in front of his desk, watching him smile while lounging in his chair with her resume in hand, still looking quite handsome.
"Have a seat."
Jane Quinlan looked at the chair beside her and hesitated for a moment before sitting down.
What’s going on now?
This man whom she dragged home to pretend to be her boyfriend for three days.
This man whom she owes a lot of debts.
This man whom she made eat eleven steaks last night...
Is her new boss.
Should she find a place to cry?
"Why aren’t you saying anything?"
Jane rubbed her forehead: "What should I say?"
Kay Forrest chuckled, "True, if I were you, I’d want to find a hole to crawl into too."
"Did you know beforehand that your company was going to acquire our newspaper?"
"Not at all," it was a decision he made after returning from an overseas trip.
"But you must have known yesterday. Why didn’t you tell me?"
"It was a surprise."
Jane Quinlan shook her head, "You really shouldn’t give surprises so casually, because every time I receive one, it turns into a shock."
Kay Forrest laughed, "Hey, I say you’re really strange.
When we meet again like this, shouldn’t you be happy?
At least we know each other."
Ugh, what’s there to be happy about, thinking about what happened between them before...
Seriously, would a normal person go through this?
"Just because we know each other, I should be happy?"
Kay Forrest pushed her resume toward her: "If someone else had taken over this newspaper, you’d probably have to pack up and leave."
Jane Quinlan pouted, she had to admit this point.
"But we know each other, so you don’t have to leave.
I remember you said back in your hometown that you found a job you love, right?"
Jane Quinlan nodded, "Yes."
"You also know there probably won’t be many new employees here for you to train for now, because we need to restructure.
And the changes might be substantial, so are you interested in switching positions to stay here?"
Switching positions, this was exactly what she was hoping and wishing for before she fell asleep last night.
And now, she really felt it was advantageous to know someone in such times.
"I think so," she nodded.
Kay Forrest nodded, "Okay, since you want to stay, there’s no problem.
I just got a rough understanding, and there are quite a few employees wanting to change positions.
So I will further discuss everything with the HR manager, you wait for my notice."
"Alright."
Kay Forrest was silent for a moment, then looked up at her, "Do you have anything else to say?"
"Ah? Oh, no." She quickly stood up, "Then I’ll leave first."
"Please call Maddox Golden in for me."
"Okay," she turned towards the door, but before opening it, she turned back, "How should I address you in the future?"
"As you like, if you prefer, you can call me Kay and I won’t object." He grinned mischievously.
