Chapter 298: Chapter 213: Are You Capable of Bearing the Consequences of Revealing Secrets?_3

She probably knew why Oliver Turner was acting this way, but she couldn’t put it into words.

Faye Townsend didn’t move nor respond. Owen Lennon seemed indifferent, patting her on the shoulder, "Let’s go."

She withdrew her gaze and left the bar with Owen Lennon.

After arranging for a driver, Owen Lennon headed back first.

Faye sat in the back seat of the car, her eyes somewhat deep in thought.

After the driver got in the car, she asked him not to start driving yet.

After a little hesitation, she found Xavier’s number and dialed it. Once the call connected, Xavier puzzledly asked, "Is it Faye?"

"Yes, it’s me, Director Xavier."

"What a surprise, why would you call me?"

Evidently, Xavier was quite shocked, as he usually didn’t have personal interactions with Faye.

"Do you know how Oliver is doing lately?"

"Why did you suddenly become concerned about him? Aren’t you supposed to be happily married and have long forgotten who Oliver Turner is?"

Xavier was mocking her, and she understood.

"Xavier, regarding the matters between Oliver and me, I don’t think you really have any right to speak."

"I don’t want to interfere, but Faye, you’re really awful as a person.

Oliver treated you so well, and you have the nerve to hurt him.

If it were just you hurting him, fine, but you even led Clara astray.

Do you know that by doing this, you both—the women he trusted the most—have essentially destroyed him?

And now you call me to ask how Oliver is doing.

Why don’t you go find out yourself?

Honestly, in all the years of friendship, I’ve never seen Oliver in such a sorry state.

I don’t want to blame you for anything, but as a person, don’t go too far.

Who knows, there might be consequences in the future."

Faye sighed; she didn’t call to start a quarrel.

"I’m at the Sahara Bar, and I saw Oliver drinking alone.

Aren’t you his best friend? Can you come help take him home?"

"Is he drinking again?" Xavier sounded a bit helpless, "He really wants to fall into the abyss."

"Let’s not talk about that for now. Can you come over?"

"I can’t today; I’m in Singapore on business.

The soonest I can return is the day after tomorrow. You’ll have to find a way today."

Faye sighed, and after hanging up the phone, she turned to look at the entrance of the Sahara Bar.

After hesitating for a moment, she asked the driver to wait for her, then opened the car door and went back to the bar.

By this time, more and more people had started coming into the bar.

Seeing Faye return, the staff came over to attend to her.

Faye waved them off, "Go about your business. Don’t tell Owen I came back; I’ll be leaving soon."

"Sure, Director Townsend."

Faye walked past the staff directly through the crowd to where Oliver Turner was.

He was slumped on the sofa, eyes half-closed, staring into the crowd, with a fine glass of wine swirling in his hand.

Faye appeared, directly blocking his view.

He raised his eyes to her face and sneered without uttering a sound.

Faye stepped forward, snatched the glass from his hand, and placed it aside, staring straight at him.

He ignored her and picked up the glass again, bringing it to his lips.

Faye frowned, "Oliver."

"Don’t call my name. Pretend you don’t know me and get out of my sight."

She reached out and grabbed his glass, her eyes showing a trace of pain, "Don’t be like this."

Oliver coldly gazed at her, "Don’t be like what?"

Her lips fell with sadness, "Oliver, do you know how much it hurts me to see you like this? I’m so guilty, do you understand?"

"Guilty...? I don’t need it. I don’t need your guilt.

Take back your pity for me. I am Oliver Turner, I don’t need anyone’s pity."

"I’m not pitying you. Even if we can’t be a couple, you’re still the person I trust the most, my most reliable friend.

I failed to fulfill the promise of marrying you, and even introduced Clara to someone else. It’s my fault; it’s truly my fault.

But you can’t do this; you’re using the way you’re torturing yourself to torture me and Clara, do you understand?

In this world, no one could care for you as much as we do.

Like this...what are Clara and I supposed to do?"

Oliver laughed coldly and stood up, his body already swaying from drinking too much.

Faye hurriedly stood up to support him.

He pulled his wrist away from her hand, "Enough, take back your kindness.

Faye, if I hadn’t turned into what I am now, would you even care about me?

You wouldn’t. Haha, you wouldn’t at all.

Isn’t this pity? Tell me, what is it?"

Oliver yelled towards the end.
