Chapter 200: Chapter 191: I’m Rolling on the Bed Missing You! (One update)

Connie peeked inside and saw him fumbling awkwardly. She was simultaneously exasperated and amused. After he stuffed the clothes in, Connie pulled them back out. She had made up her mind—she’d never indulge him like she used to.

Tong Aino shot her a sideways glance. The two began a tug-of-war: she pulled out, he stuffed in. It was a silent battle—the two pairs of ears pressed against the door outside didn’t catch a single sound.

"Why’s there no sound?" Yi Luowa blinked.

"Maybe they made up and are applying medicine. You can’t talk while doing that." Teng Ai Ni, unwilling to give up, listened for a while longer, then finally shook her head in resignation.

"Let’s head to my room and keep watch. If they start fighting, we’ll hear it from over there."

Teng Ai Ni nodded and followed Yi Luowa back to the bedroom. The two even left the door open, just in case they missed any noises.

As soon as Teng Ai Ni entered the room, she flopped onto the bed. "This bed is way comfier than mine. I’m sleeping here tonight."

Yi Luowa lay down as well, turning her head to look at her. "If you don’t mind me kicking you, then go ahead."

"You didn’t manage to kick my fourth brother off, so I’m even less worried." Teng Ai Ni grinned mischievously and poked her. "Fourth Sister-in-law, when are you planning to give me a little nephew?"

Yi Luowa saw her grinning like that and glared at her. "Don’t spout nonsense! I’m still a big, unmarried maiden!"

Teng Ai Ni shot upright. "No way! Don’t tell me my fourth brother’s lost his ’fighting strength’!"

Yi Luowa kicked her lightly. "Stop being so dramatic. Your fourth brother’s perfectly fine."

Teng Ai Ni collapsed back onto the bed. "Then why haven’t you two gotten stuff done yet, sleeping together all the time?"

"What stuff? You’ve done it?" Yi Luowa smirked, like a cat who just stole some cream.

"Our family’s got a hundred pairs of eyes on me. No chances at all." Teng Ai Ni giggled.

"No chance, and yet you’re laughing like this?" Yi Luowa looked and instantly knew she hadn’t been innocent either.

"Not talking about this." Teng Ai Ni’s face flushed red in an instant.

"Fine, keep it to yourself." Yi Luowa pricked up her ears to listen for sounds from the room next door. When she found it still silent, her heart eased.

Teng Ai Ni looked at her with curiosity written all over her face. "I’m curious, though. You’ve been glued to my fourth brother these past few days with so many opportunities. Why hasn’t my fourth brother made a move on you? What tricks are you using to make him hold back?"

Yi Luowa laughed. "You think I need tricks? It’s my natural charm—just letting him look at me fills him up."

"Pffft~" Teng Ai Ni gave her a side-eye. "Keep bragging!"

"Haha... Ai Ni, I still remember when you first went to the hospital and Silly Xuan spotted you coming. He bolted to hide, saying he was scared of you. I thought you were the super cold and aloof type, but turns out you’re such a goofball."

"Silly Xuan’s scared of me because he always finds trouble, then ends up annoying me. Whenever he does, I beat him up, and no one stands up for him afterward." Teng Ai Ni chuckled. "Back then, we all lived in this big house growing up. It was so fun, but before you know it, we’ve grown up, and even getting together becomes really hard. Wonder how our Eighth brother’s been doing these past few days—out in the blazing heat, standing in formation all day. His face probably peeled a few layers by now!"

Yi Luowa pouted. "He’s living pretty comfortably—still has time to send your fourth brother some spicy videos."

"What? Spicy? He sent them to my fourth brother? How do you know? Did you see them too? Tell me, were they good?"

Yi Luowa looked at Teng Ai Ni’s eager expression and burst out laughing. "Once the parade’s over tomorrow, Silly Xuan will be back. You can ask him yourself and then take You Jia to your room to watch together."

Teng Ai Ni gave her cheek a playful poke. "You’re so bad. After You Jia and I finish watching, what’s next?"

"Make babies!" Yi Luowa teased with a wicked grin.

Teng Ai Ni rolled her eyes at her. "You first. You’re the eldest here."

"Looks like Fourth Brother really likes kids." Yi Luowa lay back on the bed, taking a deep breath with an air of melancholy. "He spends too little time in this room—I can’t even smell his scent anymore."

Teng Ai Ni sighed. "I get how you feel. I don’t see You Jia more than a few times a year either. Just like you, all I can do is sit around missing him dumbly every day."

"Ai Ni, I’ve got this urge. I want to have a little monkey that looks just like Fourth Brother. If I did that, then maybe, when Fourth Brother leaves again, I wouldn’t miss him as much?" Yi Luowa looked pitifully at Teng Ai Ni.

Teng Ai Ni sniffled. "It might help a little, but you’ll still miss him. Listening to you talk, I start missing You Jia too. Once the parade’s over tomorrow, he’ll be off again—I’ll be stuck in the same boat as you before long."

"Then why aren’t you spending more time with him!" Yi Luowa nudged her. "Go! I’ll keep an eye on those two jokers next door."

Teng Ai Ni stayed put, pulling a face. "No chance at all. The later it gets, the worse my chances."

Yi Luowa sighed. "Should I go try, then?" free we\bnove(l).com

"Right now, Dad’s probably dragging You Jia into another chess game. Don’t bother. In a few days, I’ll find an opportunity to visit him in S Country."

"Finding an opportunity is one thing, but creating one is better. I’ll help you then." Yi Luowa said boldly, then wilted immediately after. "Just don’t mess things up like you did today, alright?"

"You didn’t mess it up. Look how much progress my Fifth Brother and Connie have made. Don’t be fooled by Connie crying her heart out like she’s made of tears. I can tell—deep down, she’s thrilled. She’s been pining for my Fifth Brother for years, and now it’s finally happening." Teng Ai Ni sighed. "When I get a chance, I need to give both my brothers and my Fifth Brother a tutoring session. Time to step things up. Dad and Mom have been hugging other people’s kids for years—it’s about time they got a taste of holding their own grandkids."

"Ai Ni, I think Mom is amazing. You know, even with her holding other people’s kids, I’ve never sensed any favoritism."

"Mom doesn’t play favorites. She treats all us siblings the same—even Third Brother, Seventh Brother, Eighth Brother. She cares for them like they’re her own kids. But I think if she had her own grandchild, she’d be even happier. Dad’s a different story. He refuses to pick up a grandchild, says that belongs to someone else."

Yi Luowa smirked. That definitely sounded like something Tong Airui’s dad would do.

"Buzz buzz..." As they chatted, Yi Luowa’s phone began to vibrate.

Yi Luowa glanced at her phone and immediately broke into a radiant smile.

Teng Ai Ni noticed her glowing face and climbed off the bed, laughing. "I’d better make myself scarce. You and my Fourth Brother can enjoy your little chat."

Once Teng Ai Ni left, Yi Luowa smiled and swiped her phone open. "Fourth Brother, you actually had time to call me?"

"Just finished work." Tong Airui stared at the operation map on the wall, marking it as he spoke. "What are you up to?"

Yi Luowa giggled. "I’m lying on the bed, rolling around and missing you!"

"Haha... Take a picture and send it over. Let me see what your ’rolling around and missing me’ pose looks like." Tong Airui laughed while adding a red mark to the map.

"I look awful right now—I’m not showing you." Yi Luowa pouted. No way was she letting him see her puffy, tear-filled eyes.

"What’s awful about it?" Tong Airui frowned slightly. "Wife, what’s going on?"

"Nothing. I’m fine, just not in the mood for pictures right now. Fourth Brother, do you have time to listen to me ramble?" Yi Luowa gripped the phone tightly, afraid he’d say he was busy.

Tong Airui laughed. "Tonight is entirely yours. Say whatever you want—I’m all ears."

Yi Luowa chuckled at first, then pouted. "Don’t lie to me. You’re so busy—how could you possibly keep me company all night? Besides, even if you had the time, you’d need rest too."

"You’re worried about me?"

Hearing his laughter on the phone lightened Yi Luowa’s mood considerably. "Of course, my man—who else would I worry about? Fourth Brother, you agree I’m right, don’t you?"

"Absolutely! Whatever my wife says is right!" Tong Airui chuckled. "So, how was the day? Productive?"

"Productive, sure, but I was just missing you the whole time. Fourth Brother, I did something big today..." Since he said he had time, Yi Luowa began recounting the day’s events.

Tong Airui burst out laughing, dropping the colored pencil in his hand. "What a brainless move by Fifth Brother! Wife..."

A female major general in the Haotian army pushed the door open. Tong Airui glared at her coldly, but the woman didn’t flinch under his hostile gaze. "I need a temporary operations meeting here in five minutes..."

Tong Airui covered the phone, barking sternly, "Get out!" f.(r)eew ebnov\ll.com

"Captain Odric, you came to Haotian to fight wars, not to whisper sweet nothings!" The Haotian major general shot him a frosty look. "If you keep this up, you can take your lovey-dovey attitude and get out of Haotian!"

Tong Airui shouted toward the door, "Yuan Hang!"

No response.

The female officer sneered. "Don’t bother calling. Your men are useless. I barely lifted a finger, and they’ve already fainted."

Tong Airui’s expression darkened immediately. Knowing Yi Luowa was still waiting on the phone, he softened his tone. "Wife, I’ll call you back in a bit."

Yi Luowa replied gloomily, "Alright, go ahead. I’ll check on the pair next door."

"Keep your phone with you. I’ll finish up shortly." Tong Airui heard her low spirits and only hung up after her subdued response.

The female officer mocked, "So reluctant to part. Why don’t you just stay home cuddling your wife? What are you even doing in Haotian meddling in military affairs?"

"It’s a disgrace to Emperor Haotian to have a daughter like you!" Tong Airui sneered. "I don’t hit women, but you don’t qualify as a woman in my eyes. This is your last warning—when you enter my room, knock! And stop targeting my men!"

The major general’s face contorted viciously. "Are you blind? Where am I lacking? How am I not a woman..."

"Smack!" Before she could finish, Tong Airui landed a slap on her face. "If you dare insult my mom again, I’ll end you!"

She reached for the gun at her waist, but before her hand could fully move, the barrel of Tong Airui’s handgun was already pressed against her forehead.
