"What’s going on?" Tong Yao came over, holding Duoduo. \nv.e\l.com
Yi Luowa blushed slightly, pouting, "Well, Mom, I think you should change your screensaver." f.(r)eew ebnov\ll.com
Tong Yao paused for a moment, then burst into laughter. "I just love using yours and Rui’er’s! Have the two made up?"
"Doesn’t seem like it. It’s more like brawling beasts—we couldn’t stand watching anymore." Ai Ni turned back to the incoming group, "Aren’t you guys keeping an eye on them for a while? What if they start another fight?"
"They can’t fight without spectators." Raindrop sighed lightly, "If Fourth Brother had even one-tenth of Fifth Brother’s emotional intelligence, today’s mess wouldn’t have happened."
Long Che raised an eyebrow slightly, "Fifth Brother takes after your mom!"
Tong Yao glared playfully at him, "Who’s going to keep an eye on them in Grandma’s bedroom? If they fight, you can help break it up."
"Mom, you’re the most suitable candidate for this." Ai Ni grinned and hugged her mom’s shoulders tightly.
"Silly!" Duoduo raised his hand, pushing hers away—he clearly didn’t want her touching Grandma.
"I’ll bite you!" Ai Ni opened her mouth and playfully bit his chubby little hand.
Watching from the side, Yi Luowa’s lips twitched uncontrollably. These three siblings—same tactics—always biting at the slightest disagreement.
Duoduo pouted, then suddenly shouted like a machine gun: "Fight, fight, fight, fight!"
Tong Yao smacked Ai Ni angrily, "Stop bullying Duoduo!"
Long Che saw his wife hitting their daughter and squinted his eyes slightly, "Ni’er, come sit with Dad."
Ai Ni giggled as she sidled up to her dad, "Dad, why don’t you go referee? I’ve noticed something—if my brother isn’t home, only you can handle Fifth Brother."
Long Che shot her a sharp look, "No wonder your mom smacked you!"
"Why don’t you smack me too? Then I’ll use it as an excuse to find my great-uncle and tell him you’re all bullying me." Ai Ni mischievously stretched out her hand.
Long Che gave her a light tap, "Don’t provoke me—go and watch them!"
"This is my fault—I’ll go." Yi Luowa, looking remorseful, darted to the bedroom.
Seeing her leave, Duoduo waved his tiny hands and called out, "One, one, one, one..."
Tong Yao shook her head helplessly, "Let me clarify that I’m not monitoring Tong Fifth—I’m just ensuring Duoduo doesn’t get separation anxiety over Luowa."
"He’s your son. If you want to watch, just watch. No need to explain." Long Che said seriously, waving his hand, "Hurry up! Go now, or you’ll miss the show."
Everyone in the room stifled laughter and looked at Tong Yao.
Tong Yao pouted, "You know, whatever I say never hits the ground—someone always catches it!"
"Mom, there’s no one left out there!" Before Tong Yao could enter, Yi Luowa ran back out.
"They’ve probably gone to the greenhouse." Ai Ni eyed her dad, "Can your equipment still work? That spot’s not ideal for spying."
"Want a live stream?" Long Che picked up the remote, pressed a few buttons, and handed it to his daughter, "Figure it out yourself."
Ai Ni turned on the TV, and everyone looked over—but the screen showed only Tong Aino.
At the moment, Tong Aino looked like a trapped beast rampaging through the greenhouse. Wherever he went, either flowerpots flew or wooden chairs toppled.
After venting, Tong Aino wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and turned to run off in another direction.
Ai Ni quickly turned off the TV, "My Fifth Brother’s coming in. But where’s Connie?"
"Thud, thud..." Footsteps echoed in the hallway. Moments later, Tong Aino entered, with a defiant Connie tucked under his arm.
Seeing everyone approaching, Tong Aino shouted loudly, "Stay back, all of you!"
Tong Yao handed Duoduo to Yi Luowa and barked sharply, "Tong Aino, Connie is a guest—stop being disrespectful!"
"I’m not doing anything—just escorting her upstairs!" Tong Aino replied, heading resolutely upstairs with Connie.
Connie struggled, but she couldn’t match Tong Aino’s strength.
"Stop right there!" Long Che, seated on the couch, spoke coldly.
Tong Aino froze mid-step and turned to look at his father.
"Put Connie down." Long Che’s voice wasn’t loud, but it was commanding.
Tong Aino frowned slightly but obeyed, setting Connie down.
Connie, teary-eyed, turned to Tong Yao, "Auntie, it’s my fault today—I couldn’t control my emotions. I’ll leave now."
As she spoke, Connie headed toward the door, but Tong Aino grabbed her. "I just fetched you, and now you’re running again! If you’re leaving, take your luggage with you!"
Tong Yao slapped her son’s hand hard, "Don’t be rough—you’ve got those big hands; they’ll leave bruises."
Even though he got smacked, Tong Aino didn’t let go. He looked down at Connie, "I’ll help you pack—come upstairs with me."
"Tong Fifth, behave yourself!" Tong Yao warned loudly. But when she noticed her son’s mouth was bleeding, her heart softened. Taking another look at Connie, who was in an even worse state, she sighed, softening her tone, "Talk things out nicely—no more arguing. The main fault lies with Tong Aino today. Connie, if you leave like this, I’m afraid your dad will feel upset when he sees you. Why don’t you stay the night? I’ll arrange for someone to send you home tomorrow."
Yi Luowa pursed her lips, holding Duoduo tightly, "Connie, I’m sorry; it was all my bad idea. Please stay."
"It’s not your fault. If you hadn’t suggested it, I wouldn’t have seen this side of him clearly." Connie shook off Tong Aino’s hand unsuccessfully, tearing up as she said, "Let go of me—I’ll listen to Auntie and leave tomorrow."
Tong Aino’s grip loosened slightly but stayed firm, "I’ll escort you upstairs."
"I’m not going up!"
Duoduo was frightened by the shouting and clung tightly to Yi Luowa.
"Duoduo, don’t be scared." Yi Luowa patted his little bottom, while Raindrop hurried over to take him.
"I’ll go with you upstairs," Yi Luowa said feeling guilty, gently wiping the blood off Connie’s lips. "Mom, do we have medicine in the house? I’ll apply it for Connie."
"I’ll get it." Tong Aino finally let go this time, quickly heading to another room. Just before entering, he looked back at Connie.
Yi Luowa pressed her lips together and helped Connie up the stairs as Ai Ni followed behind.
As soon as they entered the room, Connie collapsed into Yi Luowa’s arms, sobbing, "Tong Aino is a complete jerk!"
"Yep, he’s a total jerk!" Yi Luowa gently stroked her back. "He twists everything he says—he clearly cares about you but can’t express it properly."
"He doesn’t care about me at all! Waaaah..." Connie wailed.
"If he didn’t care, he wouldn’t be jealous." Ai Ni grabbed some tissues and handed them over, wiping away her tears. "My Fifth Brother is just like that—has feelings but doesn’t know how to talk. Don’t be mad."
"Me? Me... Waaah..." Connie was so choked up that her words couldn’t come out.
"If you keep crying, the two of us will end up crying together." Yi Luowa pointed to her own eyes. "If you keep this up, my state today will be yours tomorrow."
Connie sniffled and managed to stop crying.
"Honestly, you didn’t lose out today. You fought, you bit, and you figured out his feelings—you struck gold." Yi Luowa took the tissues from Ai Ni and continued wiping Connie’s face. "There’s ointment from Soya; apply it tonight, and your lips will heal by morning. And let’s keep it to ourselves—don’t let Tong Aino use it. Let him hurt! A little pain might actually teach him something."
Connie pouted slightly. She knew how hard she herself had bitten—but knew Tong Aino’s bite lacked her strength. Her heart ached briefly before she shoved the thought aside. No way would she let herself feel sorry for him!
Ai Ni could see Connie calming down and said gently, "Connie, Fifth Brother went to get medicine for you—that’s a big step for him. Previously, he’d never go out of his way for you. I think he sincerely wants to change—maybe consider letting things go. I’m not sticking up for him; it’s just that he’s never had a girlfriend before. Honestly, his emotional intelligence is pretty much nonexistent—you’ve got to give him some time."
Yi Luowa blinked her large, fluffy eyes, "What about Fourth Brother—did he ever have a girlfriend?"
"He’s been living in a monastery—how’s he supposed to meet anyone?" Ai Ni rolled her eyes. "You’re the luckiest one, finding someone with high EQ!"
"I think You Jia’s emotional intelligence is the best—such a great personality, always giving in to you." Yi Luowa pouted playfully.
Seeing the others had all snagged partners with high emotional intelligence, Connie felt her own fortune was lamentably bleak. Her eyes reddened, and fresh tears streamed down.
Yi Luowa glanced at her, face turning sullen, and with a hint of tears in her own voice, said, "I miss my Fourth Brother. Connie, be merciful—stop crying! Otherwise, I’ll start crying too."
Connie, seeing her eyes actually reddening, quickly held back her tears. "I won’t cry, so you don’t cry either."
"Thank you, sweetheart." Yi Luowa stuck her tongue out playfully at Ai Ni—a trick guaranteed to work better than reasoning.
Suddenly, footsteps sounded outside the door. Connie turned away quickly. "Luowa, don’t let him in."
"Got it—I’ll go grab the medicine from the door." Yi Luowa ran to the door, signaling Ai Ni with a wave.
Ai Ni understood and patted Connie’s shoulder. "I’ll help block the door—no crying, okay?"
Connie nodded and sat down on the sofa. Despite all the drama, a tiny part of her heart secretly felt a bit sweet. Tong Aino’s attitude today clearly showed he cared for her—even kissed her—no, even bit her...
A sudden clatter interrupted Connie’s thoughts. She turned, spotting her luggage toppled on the floor, with clothes spilling everywhere. To her surprise, Tong Aino stood right beside it!
The door was shut, and neither Luowa nor Ai Ni was anywhere in sight.
Connie sprang to her feet, glaring at him, "Why did you knock over my suitcase!"
"Accidentally bumped it." Tong Aino walked up holding ointment. "Let me apply the medicine for you."
It was obviously a line taught to him by Ai Ni.
"I have hands!" Connie scowled, sidestepping him to pick up her fallen clothes one by one.
Tong Aino paused briefly, then followed her over—but he wasn’t helping. Connie picked up one item; he tossed another back out.
"Tong Aino!" Connie yelled, exasperated.
He acted as though he hadn’t heard, pulling out the last piece of clothing and gathering them all together before heading toward the wardrobe.
"Tong Aino, are you insane!" Connie chased after him.
Ignoring her, Tong Aino kicked open the closet door and shoved all her clothes into it, without caring about their delicacy, worth, or whether they’d wrinkle.
