Chapter 198: Chapter 189: Fighting Makes You Healthier! (Second Update)
"Are they really about to start fighting..." Tong Yao looked worriedly toward the door.
"Do you think that’s possible?" Long Che curled the corner of his lips slightly. "If us elders went over, they might actually fight just to save face."
Yi Luowa glanced at her anxious mother-in-law and discussed with Duoduo, "Duoduo, would you mind playing with Grandma for a bit? Auntie needs to step out for a moment."
Duoduo whimpered softly and clung tightly to her neck.
Little Raindrop and Monica strode out of the dining room, noticing Duoduo clinging to Yi Luowa and refusing to get down. Little Raindrop impatiently barked, "Go to Grandma!"
Duoduo blinked his purple eyes, begrudgingly turned his head to look at Tong Yao. Tong Yao quickly stood up, took him into her arms, and said to Little Raindrop, "You go and check on them. Make sure they don’t start throwing punches."
"Alright," Little Raindrop responded and pulled Yi Luowa along as they headed out.
In the garden, Connie was sitting on the swing while Mai Zekai repeatedly pushed it gently.
Connie smiled awkwardly, "Seventh Brother, I’m already so grown up, letting you push me like this—I feel embarrassed."
"Girls love this sort of thing," Mai Zekai smiled and tugged at his lips. "We used to push Ai Ni like this all the time when we were kids. Connie, Fifth Brother won’t hold out for long. When he shows up later, let’s stoke the flames a bit more, then he’ll probably spill what’s really on his mind."
Connie froze, clutching tightly to the ropes of the swing, turning her head toward Mai Zekai, "Seventh Brother..."
Mai Zekai chuckled, "Don’t take me for a fool. Just the way you three came downstairs flashing your knowing looks—I knew you were up to something today. Out of all the people here, only I’m suitable to be your sacrificial lamb, so I took the initiative and joined in."
"Seventh Brother, I’m sorry!" Connie said with an apologetic smile.
"There’s nothing to be sorry about. As long as you’re all happy, I’ll be happy too. Fifth Brother isn’t as much of a troublemaker as Fourth Brother, but his emotional intelligence is lacking. When you make the first move, he plays coy. When you don’t make the first move, he becomes even more infuriatingly coy... Oh, here he comes, looking like he’s storming in with a thundercloud face."
Connie’s heart leapt to her throat. She glanced timidly in the direction Tong Aino was approaching.
"Stop looking at him; we’ll talk about our own thing," Mai Zekai smiled warmly as he shifted in front of Connie, bending down to look at her.
They were so close Connie could feel Mai Zekai’s breath. Nervously, she tilted her head back slightly. Mai Zekai shook his head, "Don’t be scared. I wouldn’t do anything to you."
Connie pursed her lips, smiling, "I know Seventh Brother is a true gentleman, but I’ve never been this close to a guy before."
Mai Zekai sighed and shook his head, "You shouldn’t have gone to an all-girls school."
"What’s wrong with an all-girls school?" Connie asked, puzzled.
"No men." Mai Zekai smirked mischievously. "Other than your relatives, you only know Tong Aino. Honestly, Tong Aino isn’t as wonderful as you think he is. Take me for example, he definitely pales in comparison to me..."
Before Mai Zekai could finish speaking, his collar was suddenly yanked by a large hand. Tong Aino, with a dark expression, pulled him away and asked grimly, "How am I worse than you?"
"You’re worse than me in emotional intelligence," Mai Zekai grinned cheekily, "If you’re not convinced, let’s test it—let’s both pursue Connie and see who wins her over first."
Tong Aino turned his head to look at Connie. Connie jumped off the swing and nervously squeezed her fingers.
Tong Aino chuckled faintly, "I wasn’t wrong at all. You really haven’t seen many men, so you end up fixating on any guy you meet—even any random cat or dog could catch your eye."
Connie clenched her fists tightly and glared at him. It didn’t bother her entirely that he belittled her, but lumping Mai Zekai in with ’random cats and dogs’ was something she couldn’t tolerate.
"Apologize!" Connie said coldly.
"Apologize? To whom?" Tong Aino shoved Mai Zekai away, his entire presence radiating an icy chill as he approached.
His face drew closer and closer to Connie’s. Connie’s gaze flickered momentarily, but she quickly steadied herself and fixed her eyes firmly on him. "Tong Aino, you apologize to Mai Zekai immediately!" she demanded, her tone deliberate and forceful.
"What if I don’t?" Tong Aino stared resolutely at her. Wasn’t she attracted to him all along? Yet today, she somehow managed to cozy up to two guys—how remarkable!
"Apologize!" Connie shouted fiercely.
Mai Zekai shook his head. These two were really making a scene. "Connie..."
Tong Aino glared at him. "Shut up! I’ll deal with you later!"
With a dull "bang," Connie’s fist landed squarely on Tong Aino’s stomach. That punch was packed with all her fury from the day and struck heavily against him.
Tong Aino grunted, turning back in disbelief to look at her—she dared to hit him!
Connie raised her chin, her voice clear and decisive as she said, "You’re right, I’ve seen few men, which is why I stupidly ended up liking you. Tong Aino, you’re nothing but a lowlife. Starting now, if I so much as say one more word to you, I won’t consider myself my parents’ daughter anymore!"
"Connie! Don’t say something so harsh. My Fifth Brother didn’t mean it!" Mai Zekai, rubbing his forehead, walked over. "Fifth Brother, enough now—apologize to Connie."
"She’s an idiot! Why should I apologize to her?" Tong Aino pushed Mai Zekai aside.
Connie’s face burned red with anger. She lifted her foot and kicked Tong Aino—not bothering to care about being ladylike today, as she wasn’t going to swallow this rage.
Tong Aino hadn’t expected she’d hit him yet again. He took the kick head-on and finally lost his cool. "If you dare hit me again, I’ll hit back!" he threatened.
Connie didn’t hesitate to swing her fist—it was an all-out barrage.
Tong Aino claimed he’d retaliate, but how could he possibly strike a girl? All he did was lift his arms to shield his face, but his actions led Tong Ai Ni, who had rushed over, to mistakenly think he was about to hit back. She broke free from You Jia’s grasp and charged toward him.
Standing taller than Tong Lao Wu, Tong Ai Ni wrapped her arms around his back. With two against one, Tong Aino had no chance to fight back.
Mai Zekai, watching from the side, shouted, "Don’t hit his face! Grandma will feel bad for him if she sees."
Seeing her fist about to hit Tong Aino’s face, Connie’s hand redirected and struck his ear instead.
The blow caused Tong Aino’s ears to buzz painfully. He struggled and shouted, "Tong Ai Ni, let go of me!"
This really was his biological sister—while he was being hit, she clung on so tightly he couldn’t even escape.
"I won’t. If I let you go, you’ll hit Connie!" Tong Ai Ni tightened her hold.
You Jia, standing in the distance, wanted to laugh but didn’t dare to. After all, this wasn’t his home—laughing might earn him some serious scolding.
By the time Little Raindrop and Yi Luowa arrived, Connie was still throwing punches. The two exchanged a glance before rushing over to pull Connie away.
Tong Ai Ni finally released Fifth Brother when more people began to intervene.
Looking at the utterly disheveled Tong Aino, Yi Luowa burst into laughter. "Fighting improves health!"
Tong Aino, rubbing his ear, suddenly darted forward to stand right in front of Connie. Yi Luowa paused for a moment, stepped forward slightly, and shielded Connie behind her. "Tong Aino, men who hit women aren’t real men!"
Tong Aino didn’t say a word and simply grabbed Yi Luowa like a kitten to move her aside. Then he seized Connie and started walking toward the greenhouse.
"Tong Aino!" Little Raindrop called out sternly.
Without looking back, Tong Aino replied, "I am a man. I don’t hit women!"
"Tong Lao Wu, let go of Connie!" Yi Luowa chased after them. "You’re completely lacking in gentlemanly behavior. This will leave scars on her heart, and you’ll regret it later!"
"I’ve already regretted it. This crazy woman needs some proper discipline." Tong Aino’s pace quickened.
Dragged along in a stumbling manner, Connie turned to Yi Luowa. "Luowa, don’t worry about me. Today I’m going to settle things once and for all!"
"This is getting out of hand!" Yi Luowa massaged her temples and ran to block their path with her arms spread wide.
Tong Aino glared at her frostily, "Do you want to watch a live performance?"
"Watch what live performance?" Yi Luowa asked with a bitter smile.
Tong Aino pulled Connie into his arms and leaned down, pressing his lips to hers. But it wasn’t a kiss—it was more like a savage bite.
"What the...!" Yi Luowa exclaimed, mouth agape.
Everyone in the courtyard stared in stunned silence. What was going on? They had been fighting like mortal enemies moments ago, and now they were biting at each other like wild beasts.
Connie was completely stunned by the abrupt aggression. Her body stiffened as she was forced into the so-called "kiss." Soon her lips burned with pain, and the taste of blood filled her mouth. Startled, she stared at the face she had loved for nearly ten years, now twisted into a somewhat feral rage, as though he wanted to devour her.
Enraged, Connie turned the tables. If he bit, she was prepared to bite back!
The "spectacularly dire" scene was too much for Yi Luowa. She weakly reached out to grab Tong Ai Ni’s hand.
Tong Ai Ni pulled her gaze back from Fifth Brother and whispered, "Is this kissing or a fight?"
"A mix of both," Yi Luowa shrugged. "Should we stick around or make ourselves scarce?"
"They won’t start fighting again, will they?" Tong Ai Ni wasn’t sure about Fifth Brother’s intentions. "It’d be good if my brother were here—he could keep Fifth Brother in line."
"Ugh, please don’t mention your brother. Just thinking about him makes me miss him." Yi Luowa rubbed her eyes. "Ai Ni, let’s go. If we keep watching, we’ll definitely get sore eyes."
"Their kissing lacks finesse. One day, when I have time, I’ll give them proper lessons." Mi Chenshuo’s amused, low voice came from nearby.
Yi Luowa’s mouth twitched slightly. Why were the Mi family brothers always so keen on teaching people? Memories of the absurd video Xia Xuan had sent and last night’s "heart-to-heart encounter" made Yi Luowa’s cheeks flush all the way to her ears.
Tong Ai Ni lowered her gaze to glance at her, noting her peach-like blush and mistaking it for shame. She took Yi Luowa’s hand and led her back to the hall.
"Are we not stepping in?" Mai Zekai asked, furrowing his brow as he watched the sisters retreat. He glanced at Little Raindrop suspiciously.
Little Raindrop shook his head and whispered, "If you stay and keep watching, Fifth Brother might keep kissing Connie until nightfall."
Mai Zekai adjusted his glasses. "Was this all a show for me?"
"What do you think?" Little Raindrop tugged on Mai Zekai’s arm and pulled him back toward the hall.
You Jia and Monica exchanged glances and smiled before following Mi Chenshuo back inside.
