Chapter 25 - Graphene Supercapacitor Technology
Chapter 25. Graphene Supercapacitor Technology
Half an hour later.
At Liwan Pavilion.
Inside a private dining room, several exquisite dishes steamed on the table, their rich aromas filling the air.
There was a steamed red grouper, half a roasted goose, a large bowl of yam and pork rib soup, and a plate of lettuce in oyster sauce.
A bowl of vegetable porridge completed the meal—light yet nutritious.
“Husband, this rib soup is really good. Have some more.”
Bai Xiyan ladled a steaming bowl of soup for Ye Chen, then playfully picked up a spoon to feed him.
“Ah—”
“Good boy!”
As they ate, the two occasionally indulged in some sweet, coupley moments.
The meal lasted an hour.
After finishing, Ye Chen asked, “Wife, where do you want to go this afternoon?”
Bai Xiyan grinned. “I’m heading back to my alma mater. Professor Zhang wants to see me about something, so I won’t be able to hang out with you this afternoon.”
Ye Chen raised an eyebrow. “Professor Zhang? That really impressive female professor?”
Bai Xiyan nodded. “Yep, her.”
An image flashed through Ye Chen’s mind—a silver-haired but youthful-looking old lady.
She appeared kind and gentle, but she was a state-subsidized expert.
In Shanghai’s academic circles, her former students and connections were everywhere. She was practically a powerhouse in her own right.
“Then let’s go. I’ll drive you.”
Bai Xiyan smiled sweetly. “I can just take a taxi.”
Ye Chen shook his head. “I’ve got nothing else to do. Why waste money on a taxi? Come on, I’ll take you!”
Without waiting for her reply, he strode out.
Behind him, Bai Xiyan’s smile grew even sweeter.
An hour later, Ye Chen dropped Bai Xiyan off at Fudan University’s gates. She waved at him from the entrance before stepping onto campus under the curious gazes of onlookers.
Ye Chen started the car again and drove off.
But he felt a little lost—he wasn’t sure where to go.
Back to Zhongliang Yihao?
He didn’t want to run into certain people.
The gym?
Nah, he wasn’t in the mood.
Finally, he sighed.
“Fine, I’ll be productive today. Let’s go check on Hanhai Energy.”
Thirty minutes later, he stepped into the tech building of Hanhai Energy.
A few minutes after that, the company’s CEO and chief technical officer arrived in the conference room.
“Chairman Ye, what brings you here today? You haven’t visited in two months,” Zhou Qiao, the CEO, teased with a chuckle.
Beside him, the chief technical officer, Mai Jia, smirked.
“Hey, Zhou, don’t you know? Chairman Ye recently broke free from his cage. Now that he’s in a good mood, he finally remembers us.”
Both Zhou Qiao and Mai Jia were people Ye Chen trusted completely—not just because of the system’s special bond-enhancing items, but because Ye Chen had personally scouted and mentored them.
He had given them their big breaks, and their relationship was close enough for some lighthearted ribbing.
“Tch, you two single old dogs dare to mock me?” Ye Chen shot back.
“Look at me—young and already on my second marriage. Meanwhile, you two are top executives, future billionaires once our products launch, yet you don’t even have girlfriends. Honestly, it’s embarrassing for me as your boss!”
The two executives immediately faltered, clasping their hands in surrender.
“Chairman, have mercy! Don’t hit where it hurts!”
“Yeah, Chairman, look at me—I’ve gone bald for the company’s sake! And you’re still roasting me like this?”
Ye Chen grinned. “Cut the crap. You were already bald when I first met you.”
Mai Jia chuckled, then touched his bald head and sighed dramatically.
“I’m only thirty years old!”
Ye Chen shook his head, amused.
After a few more jokes, his expression turned serious.
“Alright, enough fun. I’m here to check on the mass production trial for the graphene supercapacitors.”
“Lao Zhou, as CEO, give me an update on the capacitor testing progress.”
Zhou Qiao straightened up and turned on the projector.
“Chairman, Hanhai Energy has entered the final extreme testing phase for the graphene supercapacitors.”
“Last month, we completed trial production of 3,000 units across various models. From a manufacturing standpoint, mass production is fully feasible.”
“We’ve also finished half of the extreme tests, and the results are highly promising.”
“Our graphene supercapacitors far outperform the lithium iron phosphate batteries commonly used in electric vehicles—both in performance and stability. Most notably, our supercapacitors can charge up to a thousand times faster than standard lithium batteries.”
“However, we’ve found that charging at maximum speed carries some risks. The smaller the battery capacity, the more we need to adjust the charging rate.”
“Because of this, we’ve fine-tuned the charging speeds based on usage scenarios.”
“But even with these adjustments, a 5,000mAh graphene supercapacitor (equivalent to a typical smartphone battery) can fully charge from zero in just one minute.”
“For larger applications—like a 90 kWh graphene supercapacitor (matching a Tesla Model S battery pack)—a slow charge takes about ten minutes, while a fast charge (20% to 80%) needs under two minutes!”
“And with further R&D, we can reduce these times even more.”
“So, as of now, I believe our graphene supercapacitors are ready for market launch.”
Ye Chen nodded in satisfaction.
“Good. Excellent.”
“Lao Mai, what about your side?”
Mai Jia sniffed and grinned.
“Chairman, our graphene supercapacitor tech is now mature enough for full-scale commercialization.”
“We’ve also retrofitted three production lines using imported equipment. Running at full capacity, just one line can meet Unicorn Motors’ initial EV strategy.”
“But I recommend expanding production before the official launch. Our technology will disrupt the global energy sector—stepping on the toes of many wealthy oligarchs.”
“Once we go public, attempts to block our supply chains are inevitable. If we wait until then to scale up, we’ll be strangled.”
