Chapter 166: Assassination on Strong Hammer Military Base (V)

"Explode!" Orion shouted in rage as a massive burst of flaming energy emerged from her wings, sending Amara flying away and setting the room on fire.

That was a very Bloodline Ability from the angelic woman, allowing her to unleash a massive amount of fiery energy in a fraction of a second. It was clear that even if she was a Mage, Orion was not someone who would be helpless in a close-range fight.

The Royal Guard felt her internal organs trembling from the burst, and had it not been for the armor enhancing her defenses, the damage would have been much worse. Summoning every ounce of her agility, she twisted mid-air, her muscles coiling like springs, and landed with cat-like grace against the wall, her legs absorbing the brunt of the collision.

Despite her successful landing, Amara knew she was far from safe. Her eyes locked onto Orion, who now channeled all her fiery energy into a massive sphere of white flames above her head. The raw power of the spell was palpable, its heat distorting the air around it.

"Die, cockroach!" Orion’s scream was a mixture of rage and madness as she hurled the sphere of white flames toward Amara, disregarding the devastating consequences of such an explosion in the confined space.

Amara’s heart pounded, but her composure never wavered. She calculated her move with precision, using the momentum from her landing to propel herself sideways, narrowly evading the direct hit of the fiery sphere. The sphere exploded with a deafening roar, its shockwave engulfing the room in an inferno!

"BOOOOOMMMMM!"

The massive explosion shook the entire Strong Hammer Military Base. Flames consumed the penthouse, and the sound of shattering glass and crumbling walls filled the air. Outside, soldiers and angels alike paused, their eyes widening in horror and awe at the sheer destructive force unleashed by the white flames.

The angels’ shock and awe only increased as they saw how a figure propelled itself away from the penthouse and fell to the ground.

Those with greater eyesight saw that the figure belonged to a woman in dark leather armor, who emerged from the blaze that engulfed the penthouse, surrounded by a dark energy barrier that kept the flames away!

Amara’s eyes were sharp as she fell from the sky. The penthouse was over sixty meters from the ground, but there was no fear in her eyes as she extended her arms, allowing a thin membrane to emerge. This enabled her to glide with the air, reducing her falling speed.

Even with the danger of the situation, a small smile appeared on the Royal Guard’s face as she perceived the power of her armor.

The name of the Rank 2 Alchemy Artifact was Shadowbane Leather Armor. Crafted by Jormungandr from rare demonic components and explicitly designed for Amara, this leather armor offered exceptional abilities. Still, the mightiest of all was the Dark Energy Barrier, capable of resisting the full power of a Champion Spell!

There was no more dangerous time for an assassin than right after making her move, which was why Vlad and Jormungandr chose this armor for the Royal Guard, as it would give her a chance to escape even when facing someone as powerful as Orion.

Thanks to the Shadowbane Leather Armor’s aerial components, Amara was able to land safely on the ground just as the Dark Energy Barrier shattered. It was a powerful defensive ability but could only be used once, and now the young woman would have to rely on her own skills to escape.

Amara took a final potion from her space ring, which was a small vial with black liquid. The potion’s name was Demonic Combustion, and it greatly enhanced her body and energy pool for a short amount of time. However, once the effect was gone, it would be lucky if she could continue walking.

Determination appeared in the young woman’s eyes as she downed the potion, her strength bursting before pushing her Runic Set and Force skill to the limit.

Back in the penthouse, the massive angelic guard stood in the center. The white flames had significantly harmed him, but he stood resolute as his wings moved, revealing Orion’s figure. Thanks to the metallic wings covering her figure, there were no burn wounds on her body.

The massive angel guardian had flashed toward Orion as soon as he detected Amara’s presence. The man failed to reach her before the Royal Guard’s dagger fell, but he was able to use his wings to cover Orion from the explosion of flames.

The white flame explosion had damaged his wings greatly, but Orion’s face had no gratitude as she glanced at the man, only coldness.

Orion did not care that the man protected her from the flames, as she blamed him for failing to stop the assassin. However, she did not waste time punishing the angel as there were more important things to do.

Her only eye moved around the room, searching for Amara’s corpse, but the only thing she saw was General Omar’s charred body. The old general was no longer useful to Orion, so she did not care that her attack killed him.

Immediately, Orion looked outside the building and managed to catch a glimpse of Amara’s figure just as she headed toward the exit of the Strong Hammer Military Base. Pure hatred emerged in her heart as she saw Amara vanish, but then a flash of horrible pain assaulted her, and she could not help but fall to her knees while placing her hand on the cut on her face.

Confusion appeared on Orion’s face as she felt a strange force on the wound, and the next second, terror assaulted her as she realized the nature of the strange power, "Cursed energy!"

A curse would make any wound extremely dangerous and slowly weaken her, but the worst part for Orion was that it would also hinder any form of healing, meaning she would be left with a horrible scar.

The idea of a scar in the middle of her gorgeous face terrified Orion, and she turned toward the man with panic. "Kor, find the woman and bring me the cursed weapon. If you fail, I have no use for you!"

Fear appeared in Kor’s eyes as he knew what those words entailed. He immediately took a white gem from his space ring and shouted, "An assassin! She is heading for the exit! No matter what, do not let her escape!"

...

Amara was moving as fast as she could, and the wall to the exit had already appeared in her line of sight when suddenly she saw how dozens of potent auras and perceptions flooded the area. The radiant crystal burst with energy, covering the area with light.

The Royal Guard knew that if she kept moving forward, it would be impossible to fully hide her presence, and she would have to face many enemies, but not even for a second did she diminish her momentum, flashing with even greater speed.

Amara’s senses sharpened as the energy from the radiant crystal surged, illuminating the area and exposing her position. She adjusted her path slightly, utilizing the shadows cast by the bright light to her advantage. With a swift motion, she made her shadowy Force explode, creating a dense cloud that obscured the vision of the human soldiers and angels rushing toward her.

Energy beams shot through the smoke, their searing heat cutting through the air, but Amara’s agility was unmatched. She twisted and turned, her movements fluid and precise, narrowly dodging each beam with a combination of natural skill and the enhancements provided by the Demonic Combustion potion. Her body moved like a shadow, elusive and uncatchable.

Amara spotted an angel soldier in her path, his wings outstretched and a sword covered in energy in his hand. Without breaking her stride, she drew a throwing knife from her space ring and flicked her wrist. The blade flew true, embedding itself in the angel’s throat, causing him to stagger and collapse. Before his body hit the ground, she was already past him, her eyes locked on the wall ahead.

Two more angels descended from above, their spears aimed at her. Amara spun on her heel, her daggers flashing in the dim light. She parried the first spear thrust and sidestepped the second, her movements a deadly dance of precision and grace. Her daggers found their marks, slicing through armor and flesh with ease. The angels fell, their lifeless bodies crumpling to the ground as Amara continued her relentless advance.

She reached the wall and leaped, her enhanced strength propelling her upward. As she scaled the wall, she felt the strain from the potion beginning to take its toll, her muscles burning and her energy waning. But she couldn’t afford to slow down. She reached the wall’s edge and glanced back, seeing more soldiers and angels converging on her position.

Amara launched herself over the wall with a final burst of speed, jumping over seven meters, and landing gracefully on the other side.
