Chapter 126: Killing Snow Blood Golems (I)
As Vlad’s thoughts turned to the potential death of the Snow Blood Golems, his eyes grew sharp, and he immediately jumped away as the creatures began to move, trying to surround him. Now that they had lost their home—the thick layer of coagulated blood snow—the Snow Blood Golems would not just lay there; they would attack with all their killing intent toward the responsible party.
Vlad frowned as he saw the Snow Blood Golems lunging toward him. There were nine of these gargantuan creatures, each very powerful, and he had consumed much of his energy using the Infernal Comet Runic Set’s ability. If he were to fight them alone, he would face an uphill battle and might even perish.
"Lightning Raven!"
"Frost Blast!"
Just as the Snow Blood Golems were about to surround Vlad, the air crackled with energy. Creatures of lightning and blasts of frost energy came crashing down, surprising the monsters and distracting them.
Vlad’s eyes narrowed as he saw the opening. He flashed forward with all his strength, attempting to break free of the siege.
The young man’s quick reaction and speed surprised most of the Snow Blood Golems, but one of them was fast enough to get in his path. The golem’s empty eye sockets focused on Vlad, fury emanating from its spirit as it prepared to push the young man back into the encirclement with a ferocious punch.
Just as the Snow Blood Golem was about to strike, a figure of a young woman materialized behind it. She was a fraction of the size of the monstrous creature, but her strength was immeasurable. She sent the golem hurtling away with a single strike of her mace.
Freya did not stop after taking care of the golem. She flashed forward with her shield, blocking a massive fist aimed at Vlad’s back.
"¡Boom!"
A powerful explosion echoed as the massive coagulated blood snow fist charged with demonic energy crashed against Freya’s shield, enhanced with her Force. The young woman clenched her teeth as she endured the blow, the ground beneath her feet cracking due to the pressure.
Fury and bloodlust merged in Freya’s eyes as she activated her totems and unleashed red energy that made her strength rise to the next level. This allowed her to stabilize her base, pushing the fist away with her shield before striking the Snow Blood Golem’s chest with her mace!
"¡Boom!"
Another blast echoed across the mountain as the mace sent the Snow Blood Golem flying away with a deep indentation in its chest, as the strike had destroyed a significant portion of it!
Freya’s eyes burned with increasing bloodlust as her tattoos glowed with more and more power, urging her to flash forward. Still, her rationality prevailed as she saw the other seven Snow Blood Golems marching toward her, all ready to kill.
She had fulfilled her goal, allowing Vlad to escape the encirclement of the Snow Blood Golems. The young woman jumped back, putting distance between her and the golems, and approached the rest of the group.
Immediately, Vlad, Jormungandr, Freya, and Grey Hawk were together, facing the massive Snow Blood Golems.
Vlad took a deep breath as he felt the state of his body and analyzed the situation. The avalanche had taken their cover and drastically diminished their regenerative abilities, but they were still massive monsters with immense power and no vital points whatsoever.
His eyes soon focused on the two Snow Blood Golems that Freya had sent flying away with her attack. The monsters were already up and using the thin layer of coagulated blood snow on the ground to regenerate the lost tissue. It was just a matter of minutes before those two were fully healed.
Even the one that Vlad’s explosive fall had blasted away was regenerating, a small humanoid figure already appearing and growing larger.
One path was to repeatedly destroy the Snow Blood Golems until they finished the thin layer of coagulated blood snow around them, but that would take hours. They would most likely end up completely drained and exhausted before the coagulated snow blood was depleted.
Vlad’s mind raced, discarding the initial plan and formulating a new one. He knew they needed a strategy that would ensure their victory. "Freya, you will take the vanguard. I am injured but still have enough strength to cover you."
Freya did not even turn to Vlad, her eyes fixed on the Snow Blood Golems, but she immediately took several steps forward, assuming the vanguard position ahead of all, shield and mace in hand.
"Those things have no vital points, so aiming at the head is the same as aiming at an arm. Jormungandr, use your explosive spell to attack the legs of those Snow Blood Golems, hindering their movements." Vlad immediately focused on the small yellow cat, who would take the central role of offensive spellcaster.
Jormungandr nodded, jumped off Vlad’s shoulder, and landed behind the young man. He began to charge a massive amount of lightning and conjured the explosive Lightning Eagles.
"Grey Hawk, you will focus on freezing the coagulated blood snow beneath our feet. It would make it even harder for the Snow Blood Golems to use it to regenerate. Also, freeze any loose pieces that fall from their bodies so they cannot use them to regenerate." Vlad commanded the old Viking, giving him his role in the battle formation, before turning his focus to the small Snow Blood Golem that he had exploded and was already half a meter tall and growing. "And freeze that small bastard!"
The old Viking was a seasoned warrior. No matter his personal feelings toward Vlad, he recognized the young man’s battle mind, so he did not hesitate before sending a blast of frost energy toward the small golem.
It was impossible for the old Viking to freeze a full Snow Blood Golem, but one that was less than half a meter tall was not a problem. The next second, the only thing that remained was a red humanoid figure encased in ice.
