Chapter 131: Weapons (1)
Chapter 131: Weapons (1)
Xavier arrived at the home belonging to the man he had been searching for. The very man who had a lot to answer for his part in taking Selene’s home away from her.
Xavier entered away from the main gates to not be spotted by any of the servants. To his surprise, for such a home of a man from the court, there weren’t too many servants or guards as if the owner was struggling.
That should be impossible.
It couldn’t be that Lawrence used the same trick as Xavier to keep his guards out of sight.
When Xavier did come across any servants, he sent them the other way by controlling their bodies before they spotted him. There was a headache which came from using this skill on vampires but Xavier pushed through it.
Soon, he found himself near a room where he heard Lawrence’s voice.
Xavier opened the door and leaned on the frame. "You are a man of many lovers. Is she not too young for you?"
"You!" Lawrence, a man from the court, exclaimed. "Who let you in here?"
Xavier glanced at the young human woman who was in tears. He would be too if he had to sit on Lawrence’s lap to be groped. "Let go of her. We have much to speak about."
Xavier sighed since Lawrence wouldn’t let the young woman go. "I thought your lack of servants and guards meant you were going broke but is it that you don’t want it to get out you entertain yourself with human women? By force from the looks of it. She doesn’t want you and I don’t blame her."
"What?" Lawrence asked, offended by whatever Xavier was trying to insinuate.
"You don’t get it? Very well. I mean, despite how youthful-looking purebloods are since we stop ageing at a certain point, you’ve managed to look old. I hope the palace is looking into this rare occurrence," Xavier said.
Xavier continued, "I wonder if there is a curse for those with filthy habits to start looking old. A few of your peers share the same appearance. Start to do some good by letting her go and any other woman you have here. Then you might have an appearance women might adore."
’This is none of your business. She came here willingly," Lawrence replied.
"Yes. I must have forgotten how tears and her hands pushing you away mean she wants to be here. So, along with our kind attacking humans for their bloods now we must look out for the ones taking advantage of the women. Do you want to be here?" Xavier questioned the woman.
"See," Xavier pointed out after the woman shook her head. "Let her go so we can talk."
Lawrence loosened his hold on the young woman after Xavier started to enter the room. He had enough interactions with Xavier to know Xavier wouldn’t leave until he got what he came for.
"Are there more of you?" Xavier asked right as he stood before the table Lawrence sat behind. "Run and don’t look back. Don’t tell anyone you were here or that you saw me. Go on."
The young woman felt indebted to the stranger for saving her. She had fallen victim to an offer for work which in secret meant using her body.
"This is beneath you, Lawrence. What was the plan here? Sending out most of your servants so they couldn’t blackmail you about this? It is quite disgusting for a man of the court to be doing this," said Xavier.
"She came here willingly," Lawrence stood firm in his response.
"It concerns me that you can’t tell when a woman doesn’t want you. It is good you do not have any children for them to have a bastard of a father. Men like you bother me since there are plenty of places around the town where women would offer their time for the right price. You would have to pay a little more but it would be better than this," said Xavier.
Lawrence laughed. "Since when have you become a saviour to humans? You’re a pureblood. We’ve always used them to our liking."
Lawrence wasn’t afraid since the king had the same habits. Once in a while, Lawrence came across a human woman who had beauty to rival vampires. They were so much easier to control since they were afraid and to kill when they got too mouthy. Still, it wasn’t something he wanted to get out yet.
It was insulting to most vampires to have human lovers.
"We? Don’t insult me by grouping us. Being the same kind does not mean we all have these habits. If there are more women here, you will release them. No, I will release them," Xavier decided.
This was another reason for the attacks around the kingdom to increase. Vampires were going against the agreement made to keep peace. Who would sit by while their kind was being taken advantage of?
"Unfortunately for you, that is not why I am here today. You do know my wife Selene, don’t you? You are well acquainted with her aunt from what I heard. Is there something you must tell me?" Xavier asked, taking a seat down on the table. "I might have a bit of kindness in my heart if you are truthful."
"Who doesn’t know the daughter of those traitors? I don’t know what you speak of concerning her aunt. You can’t accuse me of being with every woman now that you have caught me with one," Lawrence argued.
"I have no reason to accuse you when there is proof. I’ve already gotten my hands on the papers you tried to get rid of on behalf of her aunt. I am curious what she offered you that you helped with this. Certainly, you couldn’t have done this out of love. There had to be more than taking her to bed," Xavier said, knowing Lawrence was a creep but also a greedy fool.
"I have nothing to say to you since it isn’t true. You shouldn’t go around accusing me of sleeping with a married woman since I don’t need a husband coming after me-"
"So you prefer fathers coming after you for taking advantage of their daughters?" Xavier questioned.
Lawrence slammed his hand on the table as he abruptly stood up. "I said she came here willing. What proof do you have that I have done these things? Other members of the court wanted to strip everything from your wife’s hands. If her relatives got it then your wife should be thankful it stayed in the family name."
Lawrence walked around the table, secretly trying to make his way to the door. "I was never convinced your wife didn’t have any part in their plan. She was old enough that something was happening but played innocent to save herself. Unless you are planning to bring her down as well, it doesn’t make any sense for you to tie yourself to that woman."
Xavier laughed since this was a man who once slept with Ruby and tried to force himself on a woman trying to give him advice. "I know you had a hand in taking the house from her. I also know there was more to why you helped Ruby."
Lawrence smiled. "Unfortunately, you will never know. It’s time you get out of my home, Lord Blackthorn. I have every right to throw you out since you weren’t welcomed in."
Xavier ran his fingers through his hair, pushing back the small messy strands. "Each time I try to play nice this happens."
