Chapter 143: Worried About Abigail’s Health

He paced his stride to catch up with his Boss’ lady and politely stopped before her, saying, "Excuse me, Miss Abigail. I’m really sorry I was late to prepare your car. Please give me a minute, ma’am. I’ll take the car and drive you there."

"Thanks, Vincent, but you don’t have to do that," Abigail replied. "I just want to visit the store on Oracle Street down the block. The place is too close to ride in a car. I can walk there just fine. No need to bother yourself by driving me—"

"Miss Abigail, I apologize if I insist. But I must accompany you. It’s an order from Boss Sawyer," Vincent insisted.

Vincent couldn’t let her go alone after what had happened to her. Besides, Kian Blake was still out there. That devil man had used his health as an excuse not to stay at the police station for interrogation. There was a possibility he might contact someone to harm Abigail.

"I’m only going to a place near the house, Vincent. It’s still in this neighborhood. Don’t worry too much; I will be safe around this neighborhood," Abigail politely refused. Moreover, she still felt awkward around him.

"Miss Abigail, if you keep refusing me, Mr. Sawyer might fire me today. Would you please help me stay away from being fired by Boss? Let me drive you there, ma’am" Vincent spoke the truth. His Boss had already warned him about it, and he didn’t want to disappoint him.

After hearing his reason, Abigail could only nod and agree. She didn’t want this man to lose his job because of her.

’Gosh! I need to talk to Sawyer about this. This is starting to bother me,’ Abigail silently expressed how the luxurious treatment Sawyer had set up for her started to annoy her.

"Thank you so much, Miss Abigail. Please give me just two minutes—" Vincent rushed toward the house to get the car.

"No need to rush, Vincent! I will wait here." Abigail felt sorry to see how worried he was, frightened that she might leave him.

After watching Vincent disappear into the house, Abigail took her cell phone out of her bag.

She texted Sawyer about her feelings, hoping they could discuss it later.

"Hi, Sawyer. I just wanted to let you know that I no longer need a bodyguard or chauffeur since I’m not working at the café anymore. Also, as you know, I might spend the next few days at home before I start setting up my studio."

After sending that long message, she wrote another one:

"You don’t have to reply if you’re busy, Sawyer. We can talk about this later at lunch."

"Sorry, I forgot to ask: What do you want to eat? I’ll cook for us. If you have little time, just give me a short reply."

Abigail took a deep breath and put her cell phone back in her bag.

Not long after, she saw a white SUV driving toward her. The car stopped, and Vincent immediately got out to open the back door for her.

"Thank you," Abigail replied softly as she got in. The cold air from the car’s air conditioner struck her, causing her headache to return. Her throat grew sore with every swallow. She pulled her hoodie over her head and began pinching her temple.

"Where would you like to go, Miss?" Vincent asked as the car passed through the gate.

Abigail looked at him, unable to answer. She didn’t know where she was heading now because she had never seen a pharmacy on the path from home to the cafe, but she was sure there must be a mart or pharmacy shop on Oracle Street.

She could only ask Vincent to drive to Oracle Street while opening her Google map and hurriedly searching.

After a few minutes, she finally found a pharmacy. She immediately informed Vincent of her destination, which was opposite the Crimson Leaf Cafe.

"Vincent, you can turn right; there’s a Twenty-One pharmacy near the intersection. You can stop there," Abigail said before putting her cell phone back in her bag and looking out at the busy street.

As she passed Oracle Street again after that night, Abigail felt a mix of nervousness and confusion. She was still entirely in the dark about Kian’s lawsuit against her.

She also hadn’t heard from Rowan Sterling regarding her charges against Kian. She hoped Kian Blake would suffer the consequences of his wickedness soon; he shouldn’t be allowed to live freely in society.

"Miss Abigail, are you feeling unwell? What medication do you need? Let me buy it for you," Vincent asked as he parked his car in front of Twenty-One Pharmacy. He glanced at her through the rearview mirror and noticed her pale face, which concerned him.

Vincent’s question seemed to distract Abigail. She turned to him and realized they had arrived before the pharmacy.

"Thanks, Vincent, but no, thank you. I only want to buy my personal stuff. Woman stuff. It would feel weird if you bought them for me, right?" Abigail replied casually.

Vincent was instantly stunned when he heard her words. He cleared his throat and hurriedly responded, "Understood, Miss Abigail. Then, I’ll just wait for you here."

"Thank you—" Abigail said before leaving the car and walking to the pharmacy. She approached the female pharmacist behind the counter.

After explaining her symptoms and what she needed, the pharmacist promptly recommended the necessary medicine and suggested some vitamins.

While in the car.

After Vincent saw Abigail enter the pharmacy, he took out his cell phone and dialed Sawyer’s number.

"What is it, Vincent? Why did you call me this early?" Sawyer’s calm but cold voice came through on the other end.

Vincent immediately updated Sawyer on the situation—Abigail had unexpectedly visited a pharmacy—which shocked Sawyer.

"You dropped her off at the pharmacy?" Sawyer repeated, concerned he had misheard. He was genuinely worried about Abigail’s health.

"Yes, Boss. Miss Abigail is inside now. She said she wanted to buy women’s things, but I have my doubts. She’s been talking with the pharmacist for several minutes and seems to be waiting for something..."

Vincent continued to report every detail to Sawyer, keeping his watchful eyes fixed on Abigail.

After a few more minutes, Vincent noticed Abigail coming back. She placed everything in her bag so he couldn’t tell what she had purchased.

"Boss, I need to go now. Miss Abigail is back—"

"Call me when you get home," Sawyer instructed before ending the call.
