Chapter 131: He Will Be Locked In Prison For A Long Time!
Sawyer stood in the doorway, watching her as she rested her back on the soft bed.
After noticing that she had settled in comfortably, he said, "I’ll ask Aaron to come here; you don’t have to go back to the doctor’s office when the results come in. Let him explain everything here."
Abigail lay on the bed and tried to close her eyes, responding with a faint "Hmmm..." She felt exhausted and stressed after the MRI and another medical test that Sawyer had insisted they perform.
Seeing how exhausted she was, Sawyer felt a wave of guilt. He approached the bed and sat on the edge, gently holding her hand.
His concern deepened after a few more seconds with no response from her. He didn’t want to put her through all the medical checks, but at the same time, he couldn’t bear the thought of something happening to her.
Noticing her eyes were tightly shut, Sawyer smiled and said, "I’m sorry to make you so tired, Abby. But I just want to make sure you’re alright."
He took a deep breath before continuing, "I saw the CCTV footage from the café and felt really worried when I saw you slam your head against that man..."
As he finished speaking, Abigail’s eyes fluttered open, and she stared at the white ceiling above, stunned hearing his words.
It was the first time she had heard Sawyer talk about what had happened to her the day before. Since she had met him outside the police station, he had not once asked her about the incident.
’Wait, he watches the CCTV footage?’ She was utterly shocked to hear this.
Abigail remembered Rowan Sterling assuring her that everything would be alright and that Kian would face his punishment. Last night, she simply believed Rowan Sterling because he was a renowned lawyer who had never lost a case.
However, deep in her heart, she still had doubts because Kian claimed no CCTV footage was in the room.
But now Sawyer says he saw the CCTV footage. How did he get the footage when Kian and the police insisted it was broken?
Abigail turned to look at him and immediately noticed his expression was not as warm and friendly as usual; it was filled with sadness. She quickly got out of bed and sat beside him on the edge.
She took his hand to catch his gaze. "Sawyer, I’m not blaming you; don’t feel sad about it..." She smiled when his blue eyes began to lose their gloom.
"Thank you, Abby. You are so sweet..." he replied, smiling as he gently squeezed her hand.
"Oh, right, Sawyer... you mentioned that you watched the CCTV footage? How did you manage to get that footage? I thought there was no CCTV footage at all," she asked.
"Oh, there is CCTV footage for sure, and we have it," he confirmed.
"But how could you have that? Kian and the police told me there was no CCTV record in Lana’s office because the CCTV was broken that day. I know they must have deleted it!" she said, annoyance appearing as memories of the previous night flooded back.
Veins appeared on Sawyer’s forehead as he struggled to control his anger hearing her words about that man’s name, "So his name is Kian?" he asked calmly.
Just like Sawyer, anger flashed in Abigail’s eyes as she remembered that the sex predator was still free out there and more likely had his eyes targeting someone else.
"Yes. That’s his name!"
Seeing her expression, Sawyer could guess what she was thinking. He gently tapped her hand to reassure her with his promise.
"Abby, we have clear CCTV footage from that room and all the areas in the café where that man committed his disgusting act with an old staff member. We not only have evidence of what happened inside the room when he tried to attack you, but we also gathered much more evidence..."
Sawyer paused when he noticed her eyes widen, surprised. A smile appeared on his lips as he continued.
"That bastard, he will be locked in prison for a long time. I will make sure he rots in there. You don’t have to worry about him anymore, Abby. Even if he does get out, he won’t be able to harm another woman because he will be too old and too weak by then."
Abigail is relieved that Sawyer has shared her plan to keep Kian in prison for a long time. Hearing this makes her happy.
"Sawyer, thank you. That man is truly evil! How could he say—" Abigail couldn’t finish her thought as the memory of Kian’s words stuck in her throat like a rock.
"What happened?" Sawyer asked.
"Did the CCTV footage capture the audio?" Abigail asked. She found it hard to express what Kian had said to her; just recalling every word made her heartache. It would have been better if Sawyer had heard it on his own.
"No. And that makes me think Crimson Leaf Cafe needs to replace the CCTV cameras in all their branches. They need more advanced gadgets to prevent incidents like this from happening again."
Abigail agreed with him, but a few moments later, a frown crossed her face as more questions swirled in her mind.
"Sawyer, how did you have access to the CCTV footage? You do not happen to be the company owner, are you? The Crimson Leaf Café franchisor?"
Sawyer swallowed hard, unsure how to explain. He couldn’t reveal that Ethan was his hacker.
"My team has the right to access their server, so I could obtain their CCTV footage easily."
"Obtain it easily? You not only obtain it easily, but you also obtain it quickly. Almost as if you have a hacker to do that job." Abigail calmly and subtly pressed.
’How could she guess that so easily?’ Sawyer was stunned.
"Uhmmm, No," he hastily denied. "But my team handles their server. Perhaps I have a stake in the company, so we could freely access the footage. Well, you know I have shares in many companies; I couldn’t recall it one by one."
