Chapter 497: 0497 Stay_1

Ellen Young turned her head to look at Ruffy Smith, her eyes subdued, but her expression somewhat contemplative, "Your father treats you very well."

Ruffy Smith just laughed softly.

He knew this was true.

Ruffy Smith said, "I just wanted to tell you these things, nothing more, Ellen. I just wanted to ask you, didn’t you ever miss your parents when you were little? I sometimes think of my mother, although I have no clear memory of her. But as I’ve grown up, this longing has only diminished, not dispersed."

Having said this, Ruffy Smith paused and then added, "Even though your parents..."

The silence at this moment seemed to last a century.

Ellen Young stopped what she was doing and poured her thoughts into the past.

Miss her parents?

It took her a long time before she responded with a sigh-like "Perhaps."

How could she not miss them?

But that was before she knew what kind of family the Wood Family was.

Her grandfather always told her that she should find her biological parents, as they might have had compelling reasons to leave Ellen behind.

"If our Ellen had grown up with her parents, who knows how happy she would have been."

Ellen Young understood much, but she also had basic emotions.

She still remembered how, when she was in school undergoing a fully enclosed education, she would occasionally see other children’s parents come to visit and feel a faintly complex emotion; back then she did not know what it was called, now she knew, it was envy.

Her grandfather would visit her, but that was when he was still mobile.

In the later years, her grandfather’s health declined, and Ellen Young couldn’t possibly ask him to come to see her.

She would go back whenever she had time, but she could only see her grandfather once a year.

In her midnight reveries, she sometimes pondered what her parents would be like, how they looked, and if they were kind to her.

Later, she also realized that some things were not meant to be fantasized about from the very beginning.

The more knowledge she gained, the more opinions she formed. And as she grew busier, her thoughts on her parents gradually lessened, to the point where even when she received the message about her parents and learned the truth of the past, she just smiled.

Parents may be indispensable, but to her, they didn’t seem that important.

She just needed to focus on her career, to research and develop useful products. As long as she was happy, that seemed to be enough.

Wasn’t this what she was striving for?

Hearing the word "Perhaps," Ruffy Smith’s eyes briefly hardened.

He sighed, got up from the sofa, came over, and hugged Ellen Young, patting her head, "You don’t have to think about it now, you have me."

Blackie timely barked in agreement, "Woof, woof, woof."

Ruffy Smith glanced at it, thinking how really annoying it was.

Always ruining the moment at the crucial times.

Ellen Young laughed, even more of a mood killer, "What time are you going back?"

Ruffy Smith: "..."

He checked the time, and it was already 11 o’clock.

Reason told him to leave, but his body did not want to. So, in the end, his mouth was quicker than his brain in saying, "Don’t you have another spare room here? I could rest here. My head is spinning, I don’t want to leave, too lazy to move."

Ellen Young: "..."

She looked deeply at Ruffy Smith, "There is a room indeed, but don’t you have a thing about cleanliness?"

"I do have a thing about cleanliness, but isn’t that better? At least it’s a new room."

Hearing that Ellen Young did not refuse, Ruffy Smith chuckled inwardly and heaved a sigh of relief.
