She paused, "So Ruffy Smith was called back because of this?"

"That’s not the only reason, I reckon. The Smith family probably didn’t tell him the real reason. If he knew he was being called back because of a woman, I don’t think he would’ve returned."

"But what use would it be to call Ruffy Smith back?"
