Chapter 431: 0431 Deception_1
Last night, he nearly fainted upon receiving a call from his granddaughter threatening to commit suicide.
He truly loved this granddaughter and couldn’t bear to see her suffer the slightest grievance.
Plus, having indulged Roxanne Moore since she was little, it wasn’t until he had people pick her up and bring her to Imperial City that he learned she had encountered someone who looked very much like her boyfriend.
And that someone was a son of the Smith Family.
Roxanne Moore’s parents once used Mr. Moore’s connections to get a distant glimpse of Ruffy Smith, so they recognized him immediately.
With Roxanne Moore making a scene about dying, knowing he was in the wrong, Mr. Moore had no choice but to shamelessly visit Taylor Smith, who owed him a favor, and plead with him to coax Ruffy Smith into coming back.
After all, if he used that reason directly, Taylor Smith knew very well that Ruffy Smith would never take Roxanne Moore seriously given his temperament.
If someone wants to die, what does it have to do with him?
So, remarking briefly that someone at home was seriously ill, without going into specifics, Ruffy Smith indeed returned.
Anyway, his round trip was quick, as he wasn’t abroad.
But meeting the person was another matter entirely.
"Geoffrey..."
Roxanne Moore approached tentatively from behind, reaching out to hug Ruffy Smith from the back. Before she could grasp him, Ruffy Smith felt a chill on his back, enough to make his hair stand on end, and he immediately pushed Roxanne Moore away with a backhand.
"Get lost!"
His pupils turned sinister, and without Ellen Young there, his temper unleashed uncontrollably. His cold command, heavy like a knife, plunged deep into Roxanne Moore’s heart. Then Ruffy Smith strode up to his father with an ominous presence.
"Dad, you’d better give me a good explanation."
The words coming out of his mouth carried an ominous air, and he didn’t even spare a glance at Mr. Moore standing beside him.
"Ruffy Smith, this isn’t your father’s doing."
Mr. Moore was somewhat shaken by Ruffy Smith’s demeanor and felt compelled to step forward and explain for Taylor Smith, his aged eyes filled with sorrow: "She’s my only granddaughter. After she saw you yesterday, she came home late at night and started threatening to commit suicide. I had no other choice but to have your father bring you back to at least placate her—"
"What’s that got to do with me?!"
Ruffy Smith laughed coldly, his words harsh and ruthless: "Do I know her? If she wants to die, let her die. What does it have to do with me?"
At these words, James Moore’s expression changed, and Taylor Smith, knowing full well how angry Ruffy Smith was in his heart, still had to intervene: "Ruffy Smith!"
At the very least, one should not speak so heartlessly to an elder.
Ruffy Smith merely gave them a cold look and walked away toward the hospital’s exit.
He couldn’t be stopped, and as Roxanne Moore watched his retreating figure, she screamed again, her voice grating on the ear. Taylor Smith, though irritated, maintained a composed front and quietly suggested to James Moore, "Uncle Moore, this solution might provide temporary relief but not a cure. You know my reckless son’s temper as well as I do. Whatever we did once absolutely cannot be repeated. I recommend that you seek treatment for your daughter as soon as possible."
James Moore’s face stiffened.
Having a sick granddaughter was one thing, but having others point it out was another matter entirely.
Roxanne Moore’s screams continued, and soon she was led away by the medical staff. James Moore had to see to his granddaughter, so preoccupied with bringing Ruffy Smith back that he forgot it could further distress Roxanne Moore.
