Chapter 82: Suffocating Dreams

After opening his heart, Beau stopped avoiding Astri and came back to the control room. One day, Astri brought Yuki, Kai, and Elias to play with next to the front crystal to try to catch fishes.

Once Yuki didn’t want to watch the sea anymore, her eyes shined when Koa and the other mermen appeared. They started to swim calling the kid’s attention and Yuki would scream happily trying to go take them.

The manta, Shan, appears too and swims from one side to the other making the cubs curious too. Beau knows that they’re making this show more to get Astri’s attention because they’re trying to have her heart through her cubs.

Astri is smiling watching them playing together and then she starts to draw that scene, Beau and the others notice what she is doing and they look with curiosity. Until the cubs were tired of playing, she kept drawing.

Yuki crawls away and Astri watches where she’s going, with her brothers following her closely in a protective way. She climbs some stairs and finds Beau’s leg. He looks at her and she starts to try climbing him.

He smiles and gets her from the ground. She watches him for some time, touching his hair and face a little, then she lays her head on his chest.

"This cute little thing. She’s sleepy." Astri says.

"She goes easily with everyone. Isn’t that dangerous?" Beau asks, smiling at Yuki’s sleepy eyes.

"She doesn’t. She liked you. Shan is a good guy, but she won’t let him carry her because of his very active energy. I noticed she likes calmer energies." Astri mentions.

Beau watches Yuki close her eyes slowly, happy to know that Yuki likes him somehow. Astri walks to them.

"Let me bring her to sleep. Sorry to disturb you."

"It’s not disturbing. None of you disturb me. They make the travel brighter." Beau says brushing Yuki’s hair a little and then slowly passing her to Astri’s arms.

"Thank you. They make everyday busy, but also brighter."

Astri brings Yuki to bed and the boys follow her, Beau watches them leaving and notices that he is still smiling. It even hurts his face a little, because it is muscle he wouldn’t often use. But he feels happy.

At night, Astri sees herself deep inside the ocean, she looks around and doesn’t see anything besides the infinite blue. She feels like something is calling for help and when she tries to breathe she can’t find air.

"Nature?.. What is this dream?" She asks as she looks around in a panic.

She opens her eyes in shock, her spouses are looking at her with worried faces. She sighs rubbing her eyes.

"Dreams again?" Claud asks.

"Yes. I’m in the ocean, feeling like something is calling for help. I’m not sure if it’s myself who is calling for help because I can’t breathe or if it’s someone else. Nature is not telling me directly for some reason." She answers.

She hugs Cyprian and they try to sleep again, however, she keeps having the same dream over and over again.

After two days, she has the same dream and is not sleeping well.

She lays down on the deck, to feel the sun and hear the sound of water, and tries to take a nap. Her spouses arewatching her, and actually mad at Nature for disturbing her sleep so much.

Koa jumps from the water and shifts mid-air to land on his feet. He sees Astri sleeping and smiles at her, having sure she’s the most beautiful female he has ever seen.

"Is she all right?" Koa asks in a low voice.

"She’s fine." Lee answers, but he’s just keeping Koa distant.

Koa doesn’t believe him and walks directly to Astri to ask her directly. Zin steps in front of him.

"She needs to sleep. She’s not sleeping for two days." Zin says in a low voice.

"Why?" Koa asks.

"She’s having nightmares. Nature is telling things through them. Now be quiet."

Koa sighs and nods. She sleeps a little better on the deck, but she keeps hearing sounds in her mind like it’s calling for help.

She sits down and then hides her face on Lee’s neck. He hugs her to let her cuddle on him.

"How are you feeling, love?" Lee asks.

"Like this boat was on my head." She softly answers.

"I’ll make more tea for you." Claud says standing up.

Claud walks away and Koa is watching Astri.

"May I ask what kind of dream you’re having?" Koa asks her.

"I’m drowning inside the ocean, but I’m hearing sounds and it feels like it’s calling for help." She answers, she opens her eyes realizing something, and looks at Koa. "You understand fishes, right? Even if they don’t really talk, you have an idea of their communication, right?"

"Yes." He nods.

"What if these sounds are fishes? Come here let me show you." She calls him with her hands.

He goes to her and kneels in front of her, curious about what she will do. She touches his forehead and passes the memories of her dream to him. He closes his eyes and stays quiet for some moments.

"I don’t recognize these sounds. It doesn’t sound like fish. However, it’s for sure something from the sea because of the echoes." Koa says.

"I see. Well, thank you. At least we know it’s something indeed." She speaks.

She leans on Lee again. Wayde and Zin take a foot of hers to massage, trying to make her relax.

After some moments, Astri opens her eyes feeling Nature warning her. She sits down quickly startling everyone.

"What is it?" Cyprian asks.

"Something is coming.."

"LEADER KOA!!" They hear from nowhere and then the whole ship shakes.

"What was that?" Wayde asks holding Astri.

They see giant dark brown octopus legs appearing from the ship’s sides.

"A kraken?.." Koa is shocked.

The legs move toward Astri’s direction and quickly Wayde and Zin jump forward to protect her. Lee and Cyprian bring her inside quickly with the cubs and find Claud, who came running.

"Protect them. We will help the others with what we can." Lee says to Claud and runs back outside.

Astri hugs the crying Yuki, Claud carries Kai and Elias.

"We can’t stay in our bedroom. If the ship ends up sinking we will be the last to know. Let’s go to the control room, Beau will know what to do if something happens." Astri says.

Claud nods and they run to the control room. They hear Cyprian and Galion roaring and they see the legs covering a big part of the crystal.

"I’m glad you came here. Here is the safest place." Beau says to them moving levers.

"What is that?" Claud asks.

"A Kraken. I never heard of a Kraken anymore, they rarely appear because they’re too rare." Beau says.

The ship shakes again and Astri uses her wings to don’t let them fall.

"I need to go outside and help the others or else it will sink the boat." Beau says and then they see one big eye watching them from the crystal. That eye looks at Astri and then it moves to start beating the crystal.

They see a shark biting it, a shutome piercing its long sharp sword-like nose and Cyprian biting the giant octopus.

"Galion, how is everything outside?" Claud asks.

"This Kraken is too big. I think we will need you today.. Even if Cyprian, Zin and I can help we are not fast enough inside the water. If you could try to hold it." Galion says in Claud’s mind.

Claud can see that the Kraken is sinking the ship, it can swallow the ship entirely.

"Beau!" Claud calls.

Beau stops at the door before he runs outside.

"Stay here. Protect them. I can hold the Kraken with my powers to give the others time to fight. Protect them with your life!" Claud says.

He kisses Astri’s lips and runs outside. Astri brings her cubs close to her and makes a shield with her wings around them. Beau runs to them and hugs them to keep them still.

Claud runs outside and sees Galion and Cyprian biting giant legs and part of the head. The others can only try to remove the legs from the ship deck while Wayde protects the entrance. Claud’s eyes start to shine a little and then he moves his hands like he is carrying a very heavy thing.

The Kraken stopped moving.

"I..can’t hold..him too long!" Claud says to everyone’s minds.

When Cyprian and Galion bite a more sensitive part, and Koa attacks its eye, the Kraken screams in pain and uses its all strength to get rid of the invisible hold on him. Claud uses all his strength to throw the Kraken as far as he can. Then he moves his arms to make the water in the ocean hit the Kraken in waves to keep him away.

Cyprian and Galion fly outside the water. If the kraken was outside they could kill it, but now the kraken went deep into the ocean.
