Beast God
Chapter 2: The Guardian Dog

"A rare Mystical Spirit—the Evil Cute Rabbit?" Chen Guan immediately recognized the creature.

Before entering the Mount Pingdu Blessed Land, he had done thorough research and knew the Evil Cute Rabbit was one of the most common Mystical Spirits found there. However, ordinary Evil Cute Rabbits weren’t this large, at most the size of an adult wolfhound, and their quality was usually Common.

Only a handful of rare-quality Evil Cute Rabbits could break through size limitations, growing as large as a bear.

This Evil Cute Rabbit was among the larger specimens of its rare kind, and for some reason, it even wielded a butcher knife-like weapon. This made Chen Guan wonder if its quality might surpass Rare.

But according to his research, the highest quality ever recorded for an Evil Cute Rabbit was Rare—there had never been reports of an Epic or Unique variant. If such a thing existed, given that the Mount Pingdu Blessed Land had been explored for centuries, surely someone would have encountered one by now.

Thoughts flashed through his mind as the Evil Cute Rabbit dropped the bone club it was holding and turned fully toward him. Without hesitation, Chen Guan summoned his Mystical Spirit—the Five-Red Dog.

Outside Blessed Lands, Mystical Spirits were rare, and even if they existed, ordinary people who hadn’t absorbed Primordial Energy couldn’t tame or control them.

The only exception was semi-Mystical creatures—Guardian Dogs—which ordinary people could tame before becoming practitioners by absorbing Primordial Energy.

Guardian Dogs came in many breeds: White-Faced Yellow Dogs, Brindle Hounds, Five-Black Dogs, Five-Red Dogs, Four-Eyed Iron-Wrapped Gold, and more. These highly spiritual dogs were raised by practitioners from puppyhood.

A true Guardian Dog was exceptionally intelligent. During a practitioner’s training, it would mimic their movements and cultivate alongside them. Though incapable of truly sensing or absorbing Primordial Energy, this process would awaken its semi-Mystical bloodline.

After its physical body died, such a Guardian Dog would remain by its master’s side as a Mystical Spirit, becoming the practitioner’s first companion.

Most practitioners’ first Mystical Spirits were Guardian Dogs—one of the few Mystical Spirits they could control before entering a Blessed Land to awaken their talents.

Chen Guan had raised a Five-Red Dog since childhood. After its physical death, it became his first Mystical Spirit.

With his summoning, a fully grown Five-Red Dog with deep red fur and a somewhat dopey appearance materialized before him, baring its teeth at the Evil Cute Rabbit with a warning growl.

Chen Guan also assumed a combat stance. Against ordinary Evil Cute Rabbits, he and his Five-Red Dog could handle one or even two or three without issue.

But this Evil Cute Rabbit’s size was far beyond normal, its strength incomparable. Chen Guan and his Five-Red Dog stood little chance in a direct confrontation.

Moreover, both he and his Five-Red Dog were Level 1, while the Evil Cute Rabbit’s level was unknown.

Adding to the danger, the Evil Cute Rabbit wielded a knife-like weapon. Whether they could defeat it was uncertain—Chen Guan felt the odds were grim.

If not for the terrain—the valley’s exit blocked by the Evil Cute Rabbit—Chen Guan would have fled without hesitation.

The moment the Five-Red Dog appeared, the Evil Cute Rabbit suddenly leaped forward, covering several meters in a single bound and landing right in front of the dog. Its face twisted into a sinister grin, eyes glowing blood-red as it swung its massive butcher knife down at the dog’s head.

It was terrifyingly fast—so fast that Chen Guan couldn’t react in time. But despite its dopey appearance, the Five-Red Dog was highly intelligent. It twisted its body and darted aside, narrowly avoiding the slash.

However, before its paws could touch the ground, the Evil Cute Rabbit swiped at it with a claw, sending the dog flying. Deep gashes appeared on its side, blood splattering through the air.

**Thud!**

The Five-Red Dog crashed into a pile of bones, struggling to rise. Its wounds were deep enough to expose bone, and it limped badly—yet it still positioned itself in front of Chen Guan, barking furiously at the Evil Cute Rabbit, which was licking blood from its claws.

Chen Guan’s expression darkened. The Evil Cute Rabbit’s speed and strength made it clear they were outmatched.

He guessed it was a Level 2 or 3 Mystical Spirit—far beyond their capabilities. Normally, a practitioner’s first entry into a Blessed Land shouldn’t randomly place them in such danger. His luck was truly terrible.

Without hesitation, Chen Guan rushed toward the Evil Cute Rabbit from another angle while shouting at his Five-Red Dog:

"Warring States! Among billions of Mystical Spirits, you alone stand apart—a one-in-a-million existence, destined to stand with me at the pinnacle of all Blessed Lands! Warring States, don’t give up! We can’t fall here!"

Chen Guan racked his brain for exaggerated praise. The effect of **Cheerleader’s Soul** scaled with the intensity of compliments—but whether it would work at all was uncertain. Right now, he just hoped for any advantage, whether to defeat the Evil Cute Rabbit, force it back, or even just carve an escape route.

But after only two steps, a fierce growl erupted beside him. Before he could react, a red blur shot past like lightning—his Five-Red Dog charging the Evil Cute Rabbit.

What happened next was unbelievable. Warring States, who had been completely outmatched and nearly crippled moments ago, now moved like a ghostly hound with terrifying intelligence and agility. Its eyes burned with fiery determination as it circled the Evil Cute Rabbit at blinding speed, its form flickering like crimson mist.

Stranger still, it seemed to predict the Evil Cute Rabbit’s movements, shifting speeds to evade attacks while countering with bites at its tail.

For a moment, dog and rabbit fought to a standstill—Chen Guan couldn’t even intervene.

"Cheerleader’s Soul is this effective?!" Chen Guan was ecstatic. Though a support-type talent, this level of enhancement meant any Mystical Spirit under his command could rival Rare or even Epic-quality spirits of the same level. That was terrifying.

And **Cheerleader’s Soul** wasn’t limited to Mystical Spirits—it worked on other creatures, even humans.

The more he thought about it, the more excited he became. But his first instinct wasn’t about fame or power—it was about how to conceal this talent at all costs.
