Beast God -
Chapter 1: Ultimate Secret Talent
Over three thousand years ago, the Great Qin cavalry swept across the world. The First Emperor pursued the art of immortality, discovered secret realms of blessed lands, glimpsed supreme secret techniques, gathered rare treasures, tamed mystical spirits, and with these unified all under heaven, establishing the Great Qin Ancestral Court. From then on, all lands belonged to the emperor, and all directions became ancestral territory.
The First Emperor who cultivated these secret techniques achieved eternal youth, maintaining the vigor of his prime for over a thousand years as he presided over the Ancestral Court for more than two millennia. Standardized measures and writing systems were implemented, ingenious craftsmanship flourished, and soon the industrial age arrived. Simultaneously, everyone could enter secret realms, practice secret techniques, and obtain mystical spirits, leading to great prosperity. Technology and secret arts flourished side by side, ushering humanity into an unimaginable era. The emperor was revered by all as the Ancestral Emperor.
A thousand years ago, an eerie secret realm appeared in the sky like a celestial palace covering the firmament. Countless strange phenomena manifested across the Divine Land, as if immortals hid within. Abnormal changes occurred everywhere.
The sun disappeared from the sky, stars vanished at night, yin and yang became indistinguishable, seasons lost their clarity, all things decayed, and crops failed to grow.
The Ancestral Emperor personally led a million trained Great Qin cavalry to defy the heavens and wage war upon the secret realm. The battle raged until heaven and earth changed colors, winds and clouds churned violently, and the sounds of slaughter echoed through the clouds. A torrential rain of blood poured down upon the Divine Land for ten days before the world finally returned to clarity.
The skyborne secret realm dissipated, the sun and moon regained their light, and the world returned to normal. But the Ancestral Emperor and his million Great Qin cavalry never returned.
Chaos engulfed the land, heroes rose everywhere, and the Ancestral Court collapsed. After over two hundred years of turmoil, the Divine Land finally entered a new era of peace. Ten Heavenly Kings reorganized the Ancestral Court, becoming its founding elders.
No more emperors existed—only the Court Leader and ten Ancestral Court elders with the right to elect the leader.
"Awakened innate ultimate secret talent... Cheerleader's Soul..." Chen Guan stood frozen in place, unable to react for quite some time.
Since becoming a practitioner, Chen Guan had fantasized countless times about what innate talent he might awaken when entering a secret realm for his eighteenth birthday coming-of-age ceremony. For practitioners, one's innate talent could determine their entire destiny. He had dreamed of awakening top-tier innate talents like the legendary "Peerless Dao Body," "Heavenly Vein Sword Bone," or "Ten Directions Martial Soul."
Chen Guan had also considered the possibility of not awakening a peerless talent—after all, those had billion-to-one odds, with perhaps only one or two people in the world possessing each type.
Innate talents came in five grades: Common, Rare, Exceptional, Unique, and Peerless, with Common being the lowest and Peerless the highest.
Awakening a talent was simple: reach eighteen years of age, begin practicing secret techniques, enter a secret realm for the first time, sense the presence of primordial energy, and naturally achieve heavenly resonance to awaken one's energy talent.
Chen Guan had imagined countless possibilities, but never expected to awaken such a talent.
Just from the name, it was clear this innate talent provided no enhancement for practicing secret techniques or using secret skills. It seemed more like a morale-boosting ability—an auxiliary-type talent.
This was an era where personal martial prowess reigned supreme. Everyone took pride in becoming strong, and survival in secret realms required formidable combat ability.
No matter how good an auxiliary talent might be, it ultimately meant relying on others—a prospect Chen Guan found unacceptable.
"Even with an auxiliary innate talent and no self-enhancing abilities, I can still master secret techniques to the highest level, bridging the gap between talents. I can still control top-tier mystical spirits and compete with elite practitioners," Chen Guan resolved, carefully examining his awakened talent.
Chen Guan: Practitioner (Level 1).
Primordial Energy: 1.
Innate Talent: Cheerleader's Soul (Ultimate Secret).
Secret Technique: Level 1 Longevity Art (Common).
Secret Skill: None.
Mystical Spirit: Level 1 Five-Red Dog (Common).
The rules of secret realms differed from the outside world. Inside, practitioners could examine themselves and clearly understand their cultivation progress.
As a newcomer who had just awakened, Chen Guan had only practiced the universally available Longevity Art and possessed just 1 point of primordial energy—the starting point for most practitioners.
When Chen Guan saw the "Ultimate Secret" designation after his talent name, he initially felt excited. Even if it was an auxiliary talent, being peerless-grade would still hold great value.
But upon closer inspection, his excitement turned to confusion.
Among the five grades—Common, Rare, Exceptional, Unique, and Peerless—there was no "Ultimate Secret" rank. It almost seemed like a knockoff version of Peerless.
"Do knockoff innate talents exist?" Chen Guan wondered skeptically, examining his talent more carefully.
Cheerleader's Soul (Ultimate Secret): Overflowing with words of praise, it can stimulate life's potential and liberate the soul's constraints, making the praised feel invigorated, euphoric, and divinely assisted. The more eloquent and heartfelt the praise, the more pronounced the effect.
Chen Guan grew increasingly puzzled. He had never heard of the "Ultimate Secret" grade and didn't understand its significance.
From the description, Cheerleader's Soul matched his initial impression—an ability to boost morale or inspire fighting spirit, apparently activated through speech or other behaviors, with stronger effects from more extravagant praise.
Chen Guan couldn't tell how this differed from conventional motivational techniques used by leaders. Only testing would reveal the talent's true potential.
"Though I've never heard of 'Ultimate Secret,' it doesn't seem ordinary. Its extreme rarity might indicate something beyond Peerless. If so, even as an auxiliary talent, it could surpass normal support abilities..." Suppressing his excitement, Chen Guan surveyed his surroundings, wondering how to test Cheerleader's Soul.
He found himself in a valley devoid of vegetation but filled with bizarre bones of all shapes—like a massive burial pit.
Known secret realms fell into two categories: Grotto-Heavens and Blessed Lands. Grotto-Heavens were advanced realms inaccessible below certain cultivation levels, with many practitioners never entering one in their lifetimes.
Blessed Lands had fewer restrictions. After turning eighteen, humans could enter them. Before that age, even if a Blessed Land stood right before you, you'd only see others pass through while you bumped against solid rock.
Outside secret realms, practicing secret techniques only strengthened body and mind. Without primordial energy, one couldn't accumulate it to enhance the physical form.
Only by entering a secret realm and absorbing primordial energy could one awaken an innate talent and truly embark on cultivation.
Each Blessed Land seemed like an endless alternate world. To this day, none had been fully explored.
First-time entrants appeared randomly—usually in areas with low-level mystical spirits, whether by some mysterious influence or the realm's inherent rules.
Chen Guan didn't recognize his location. Despite thorough preparation before entering this "Mount Pingdu" Blessed Land, the bone-filled valley was unfamiliar.
The bones ranged from dinosaur-sized to toothpick-small, clearly belonging to diverse creatures.
As he observed, something moved among the bones. At first glance, it resembled a polar bear.
Looking closer, Chen Guan saw it was actually an enormous snow-furred rabbit the size of a polar bear.
Though rabbit-like, its proportions differed from reality—its head was larger than its body, and it stood upright like a human with its front paws not touching the ground.
Though he hadn't seen its face yet, the furry body, round head, and long rabbit ears gave it a cartoonish, anthropomorphic appearance.
A crunching sound from the rabbit's direction made Chen Guan wonder if it was munching carrots.
As he watched, the giant rabbit suddenly turned to face him, revealing an anthropomorphic bunny face—round with long fur and large eyes that should have looked adorable.
But Chen Guan found nothing cute about it now. Its exposed white teeth and snow-white muzzle fur were stained with bright red blood. One paw gripped a large bloodied cleaver, while the other held a partially gnawed bone with scraps of flesh and gore.
The rabbit's blood-red eyes fixed on Chen Guan. Despite its cute appearance, its face bore an evil expression, and its entire body seemed to radiate a sinister, bloody aura.
