Chapter 426: Chapter 426: Who Did the Drinking Capacity Inherit?

When Lu Xining looked over again, Fu Junhang’s gaze was the same as always.

Calm, gentle, with no emotions mixed in.

She lowered her eyes and thought, perhaps she hadn’t been resting well these past few days and had seen things wrong.

The hand Fu Junhang had clenched behind his back slowly relaxed.

After Lu Xining returned, the three children were visibly the happiest, each taking turns sharing with her what had happened in the past few days.

Seeing the thin layer of sweat on her two sons’ foreheads, she was about to take out a tissue to wipe them when she saw Little Dumpling take out her own clean handkerchief and carefully wipe her brothers’ sweat one by one.

Ji Chao and Ji Ze very adeptly lowered their heads to match their sister’s height, an action that seemed to have been repeated many times before.

After their sister was done wiping, Ji Chao took the handkerchief from her hand and put it in his pocket, while Ji Ze was the first to hold her hand. The two worked together seamlessly.

Watching the three children bouncing ahead, their freshly wiped sweat quickly reappeared. This time, however, there was an added Lu Nuonuo among them, yet the smiles on their faces never wavered, not even for a moment.

Lu Xining looked down and sighed softly.

A tall figure appeared beside her. She turned her head to look at Fu Junhang and said, "Monkey, I’ve really troubled you during this time."

"There’s no need for these formalities among family. Nuonuo and Xiao Chao, Xiao Ze call me ’Uncle.’ That means I’ll forever be their uncle. This will never change."

There seemed to be another layer of meaning in his words.

Lu Xining looked at him and nodded slightly.

As night fell, Jing Zheng arrived at the manor with his fellow senior brothers and sisters from the lab. Everyone was familiar with the routine—every time the lab had a meal gathering, they mostly chose to hold it at Lu Xining’s manor. Firstly, the security was top-notch, and secondly, the chefs here were truly exceptional.

Even when Lu Xining wasn’t in country C, Jing Zheng often brought them here to feast.

However, many of the more elaborate dishes required extensive preparation time.

These were usually only served when everyone was present, so the group always had high expectations for occasions like this.

"Nuonuo, come to Uncle!"

"Xiao Chao, Xiao Ze, these are little gifts from me. I hope you like them."

"I heard you’ve been into archery lately? I happened to win a pair of twin bows from a recent auction. They’re actually personal imperial bows from a certain dynasty in your country. Consider these my first-time meeting gift to you."

"And these are longevity locks from Auntie for you three siblings. I heard they’re quite valued in your culture. See if you like them."

The lab’s senior brothers and sisters surrounded the three kids, showering them with gifts.

To them, the compensation Lu Xining provided was more than generous. Besides, they all came from wealthy families. The reason they pursued this line of work was purely due to passion.

At the ZN Lab, their skills could achieve their fullest potential.

Ji Chao and Ji Ze always knew that their sister was well-liked by the elders. Still, they didn’t expect that they themselves wouldn’t be left out of this gift exchange.

Almost every elder who came had prepared suitable gifts for all three siblings.

Under the careful tutelage of Old Sir Ji and Ji Muye, the brothers showed no signs of being overwhelmed. They conversed fluently in foreign languages with the lab members and expressed their gratitude for the presents.

Everyone got along harmoniously.

An Cheng, a well-known actor in country C, had appeared in many profound films and garnered much recognition and love from audiences through his steady and grounded career.

Many lab members had younger family members who were his fans and eagerly took photos with him to share with their kids back home.

An Cheng didn’t feel the slightest discomfort in this setting. Their energy matched seamlessly.

Ming Yuan nudged his arm lightly with her elbow, laughing as she said, "Do you understand now why I adore Ningning so much? The people around her always seem to interact this way. She has this inexplicable charm that brings like-minded individuals together."

He clasped her hand, their fingers interlocking tightly, his gaze gentle as he said, "In my eyes, you’re the brightest star."

"But I do quite like that little dumpling. When she calls me godfather, it’s especially adorable."

Ming Yuan glanced at him with feigned annoyance and said, "Nuonuo is my little sweetheart. She said she’ll only consider whoever I like as her godfather. Mr. An Cheng, you’re merely my boyfriend for now. You’re not officially promoted yet. If you want to be my goddaughter’s godfather, you’d better perform well from now on."

An Cheng smirked, "As you wish, my Miss Ming Yuan."

The two bantered playfully, their exchanged glances brimming with unspoken affection.

In the past, Ming Yuan always believed love would peak in an instant and gradually fade over time.

It wasn’t until she met An Cheng that she discovered another dimension of love—a profound connection built from countless moments, eventually merging into a deep and unforgettable affection.

Seeing her best friend now basking in happiness, Lu Xining felt genuine joy for her from the bottom of her heart.

When she left Beicheng, she had heard that Su Ting was now being driven to his wits’ end by the Qin sisters, Qin Xuexin and Qin Xueyuan. One was a youthful infatuation from his past that he could never attain, and the other was an unwanted entanglement from a drunken night.

Who would’ve thought Qin Xueyuan was carrying Su Ting’s child? This was something Lu Xining hadn’t foreseen.

Whether it was Su Ting’s previous obsession with Qin Xuexin or his seemingly newfound remorseful pursuit of Ming Yuan, neither should have led to a physical relationship with Qin Xueyuan.

Yet facts were facts—Su Ting had been with Qin Xueyuan.

Whether it was an intentional act or an act under the influence of drugs, the child in Qin Xueyuan’s womb was undeniable proof of betrayal.

Luckily, Ming Yuan had escaped that chaotic mess.

This matter was something Lu Xining didn’t plan to tell Ming Yuan. Now that her friend was so happy, why ruin her good mood with such unpleasant news?

The dinner ended with everyone content and delighted.

That evening, Ming Yuan was in a very good mood and drank quite a bit. An Cheng didn’t stop her from indulging, but when she was on the verge of overdrinking, he intercepted some toasts on her behalf.

Since no one here was particularly fond of heavy drinking, they refrained from pushing her further once she showed signs of inebriation.

Even so, she still got drunk.

Lu Xining, because she needed to accompany and care for the three children, only sipped a small amount to join in the fun.

In contrast, Lu Nuonuo proudly held her milk bottle, filled with plain water, repeatedly toasting Fu Junhang, Jing Zheng, and the lab’s senior members. No one could quite tell whom her "drinking ability" came from.

"Uncle Fu, cheers~"

"Uncle, Uncle, Nuonuo wants to toast with you~"

Late at night, outside the ancient manor in the silence of the garden, a black Maybach parked quietly, maintaining a measured distance without drawing attention.

Within the car, the man’s strikingly refined features were veiled in shadow as he reclined in the back seat, his eyes shut lightly in repose.
