Chapter 1534: Chapter 1534: Huge Compensation 3
Su Meixiang pulled her son to the front and said unhappily, "If he didn’t hit him, why is he covered in bruises? Look at this, just look! His whole body and face are black and blue. When my son’s hurt, it pains me as his mother!"
"This is exactly why I called all the parents here. I cannot bear the reputation of hitting students," Teacher Zhao explained succinctly. "Lu Tianhui already said that everyone could play together. I’ve asked other classmates in the class as well as her desk mate, and they confirmed that Lu Tianhui did indeed say so. However, Ye Yan, Shen Feng, Zhou Fei, and Xu Cheng couldn’t come to an agreement. Each of them wanted Lu Tianhui to play with just themselves and not the others. That’s how the fighting started, leading to this situation."
"Who started it?" Ye Xiangqian asked.
Teacher Zhao was momentarily taken aback and replied, "It was too chaotic. The students in the class don’t know who started it either. They just know someone disagreed, and then punches began to fly. By the time I arrived, they were already bruised and battered."
Ye Xiangqian turned to Ye Yan and asked, "Be honest—did you start it, or did someone else?"
This question would determine how he would discipline his own son.
Ye Yan replied reluctantly, "Shen Feng pushed me first. He shoved me onto the sharp edge of the desk, and it hurt a lot. I couldn’t hold back and hit him. Zhou Fei and Xu Cheng jumped in to help Shen Feng, and then it turned into everyone hitting each other. After that, things got blurry."
Ye Xiangqian was just about to reprimand his son and apologize to Shen Feng and Su Meixiang when Su Meixiang exploded.
"Who gave you the right to hit my son? Ye Yan, where did you get the guts to hit my son? Can you afford to take responsibility for injuring my son?" Su Meixiang rushed over and pointed accusingly at Ye Yan’s face. Her nails were very long, and her finger was off-target, with the sharp tip nearly poking Ye Yan’s eye. Feng Qingxue quickly reached out and deflected her hand away.
"Su Meixiang, please calm down and be careful not to stab the child’s eye," Feng Qingxue said sternly. "Ye Yan is just a child and made a mistake. The responsibility lies with the parents. You can go after Ye Xiangqian to settle this matter."
Feng Qingxue firmly believed that a child was like a blank canvas at birth—neither good nor evil—and entirely shaped by their parents’ guidance later.
Until a child came of age, parents must take full responsibility for the outcomes of their child’s actions.
Of course, children had responsibilities too, but the consequences ultimately fell on the parents to bear.
Su Meixiang pulled her hand back. Though she didn’t dare to speak harshly to Feng Qingxue, she still eyed Ye Yan with resentment. Turning instead to Ye Xiangqian, she said angrily, "Ye Xiangqian, how do you plan to resolve this?"
"Come at me for anything; don’t blame my dad!" Ye Yan stepped in front of Ye Xiangqian, his face still full of defiance.
"You little brat, get back there! Kids have no say when adults are talking!" Ye Xiangqian slapped the back of his son’s head, pushed him aside, and stepped forward with large strides. Facing Su Meixiang, he said, "Since my son was the one who started it, as his father, I’ll take full responsibility. I’ll strictly reprimand and educate him. Su Meixiang, Shen Feng, I offer my sincerest apologies on behalf of myself and my son!"
As he spoke, he put his feet together and solemnly gave a military salute.
Su Meixiang sneered, "It’s easy to talk big. But who’s going to take responsibility for my son’s injuries?"
Ye Xiangqian replied without hesitation, "Of course, we’ll take him to the hospital for treatment. I’ll make sure your child doesn’t suffer any lasting effects. I’m also willing to cover some nutritional costs. The same applies to Zhou Fei and Xu Cheng—I’ll take full responsibility for all of them."
