Chapter 1533: Chapter 1533 Huge Compensation 2
In just a short while, the parents of the four boys arrived one after another. As expected by Feng Qingxue, one of them was Su Meixiang, while the other three were two older middle-aged women and one middle-aged man.
The middle-aged man entered the room loudly and said, "Teacher Zhao, what kind of trouble has my brat caused this time?"
Teacher Zhao, having already heard from Principal Mo about Feng Qingxue’s recent arrival to the unit and knowing she was likely still unfamiliar with the surroundings, introduced the parents to her: "Lu Tianhui’s mom, this is Ye Xiangqian, Ye Yan’s father. This is Shen Feng’s mom, Su Meixiang. The two wearing blue jackets are Zhou Fei’s mom, Peng Aihong, and the one wearing the grass-green jacket is Xu Cheng’s mom, Ding Min."
Peng Aihong was shorter and plumper, while Ding Min was tall and slim, making them easy to tell apart. Compared to the well-dressed Su Meixiang, who had styled her hair with gel, the other two looked rather unremarkable.
Feng Qingxue greeted them one by one, "Hello, comrades. I’m Feng Qingxue, Lu Tianhui’s mom."
Ye Xiangqian immediately saluted and said, "Hello, Comrade Qingxue. My parents often mention you. I originally planned to visit with my brat in a few days after you and your child had settled down, but I didn’t expect to meet you today because of my brat’s mischief. My apologies—hope Little Fubao wasn’t startled?"
Hearing this, Feng Qingxue’s mind churned as she picked up the hint from his name. "You’re too kind, Ye Xiangqian. How are Comrades Ye Zhengjun and Guo Cui doing these days?"
Indeed, Ye Xiangqian was the eldest son of Ye Zhengjun and Guo Cui. She recalled hearing that he had previously served in the Capital military district; she hadn’t expected his posting to be here in the Wucheng unit.
Ye Xiangqian, now in his forties, had reportedly endured significant hardship during his father Ye Zhengjun’s downfall, even losing his own position. It was during that time that his wife divorced him, leaving their sole son in his custody—the rebellious Ye Yan, who now stood before her.
Ye Xiangqian smiled and said, "I’ve been in touch recently. Everyone is doing well. My father even got promoted."
He wanted to thank Feng Qingxue for the support she had given his family during its darkest times. Without the consistent grain tickets and food sent by Lu Jiang and Feng Qingxue, he and Ye Yan might not have held on until his father was reinstated. Yet, fearing his appreciation would cause unnecessary trouble for her, he decided not to mention it and instead gave Ye Yan a light smack on the head. "Brat, what are you standing there for? Hurry up and greet the lady!"
"Hello, Aunt Lu!" Ye Yan said indifferently, though his words were sweet. He even bowed slightly as he spoke. "Aunt Lu, you look far too young to be Lu Tianhui’s mom—I almost mistook you for her older sister."
For once, his attitude seemed affectionate, making him appear like a well-behaved child.
While Lu Jiang and Ye Zhengjun were peers, accustomed to being addressed as equals, Feng Qingxue had always called Guo Cui "sister-in-law." Furthermore, since Xibao often referred to them as "grandpa" and "grandma," and given that Ye Xiangqian was close in age to Lu Jiang and they worked in the same unit, Ye Yan’s way of addressing her wasn’t inappropriate. Feng Qingxue responded with a smile, "Hello, Ye Yan. I am indeed Lu Tianhui’s mother—no mistake about it."
But Su Meixiang, too distraught to care about their small talk, had already dashed toward her bruised and swollen-faced son. Her heart ached beyond measure as she snapped at Teacher Zhao with no reservation in her tone: "My son is here to attend school! Why was he beaten?"
Teacher Zhao, well-acquainted with Su Meixiang’s temperament, answered sternly, "As his teacher, I didn’t beat him."
