Chapter 226: Xezbeth

Atlas started running without waiting even a second, and Juliet began to follow him. After covering her legs with her aura, the capacity of each of her muscles naturally increased, and Atlas’s speed surpassed Juliet’s, who was using a simple strengthening spell.

After a short time, the two managed to reach the place where they felt this energy. At the same time, the ’gateway’ mentioned in the reports became visible to Atlas and Juliet, and the two naturally began to see high-ranking demons around them.

Atlas realised that the demons were the same ones he had seen two years ago among the students fighting the demons, and this made him realise that they needed to act quickly.

But that wasn’t all.

Atlas could see Xezbeth, Berrith, and Rosier standing among the demons.

When Atlas noticed this, he signalled to Juliet and told her to deal with Berrith and Rosier.

He, on the other hand, began running directly towards Xezbeth.

He didn’t stand idle while doing so. He had already taken the Holy Sword Delusion out of his inventory and began swinging it repeatedly, cutting off the demons’ heads. Without waiting even a second, he slashed another demon, rescued another, and advanced towards Xezbeth.

Juliet had used her magic to take both Berrith and Rosier from their places and had gone to the other end of the kingdom’s capital, taking them as far away from the passage as possible.

Now, both Atlas and Xezbeth could be alone.

Atlas was moving quickly and killing demons as he went, and Xezbeth had finally noticed him.

Naturally, the sudden disappearance of the two beside him, Berrith and Rosier, had put Xezbeth into a hyperactive state of observation and allowed him to notice Atlas rapidly approaching him.

Xezbeth was not smiling. Unlike the other demons, she did not underestimate Atlas. This made Atlas’s job very difficult.

If he used the ability Hermes had given him to increase his attack speed, he could fall victim to Xezbeth’s illusion and deception and damage his body.

If he used one of Nyx’s abilities, he would waste his mana for nothing, and if he focused on his aura abilities, he could lose his personal focus.

In the end, he must not lose Xezbeth’s trail by getting caught up in her illusions.

This left him with only one option.

Both mana and aura energy must be released at the same time.

When Atlas spread his mana around in an incredible amount, he began to sense the energy of every single living thing within a radius of almost a kilometre. He was an Eleventh-Grade mage. He was a mage who possessed eleven different magic rings that brought different and powerful elements to their highest levels.

He was even stronger, superior, and more powerful than his former self.

There was no way for a demon like Xezbeth to escape his mana trail. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

After all, what made a superior demon like Xezbeth powerful were his lies and illusions. These lies were literally pitting countries against each other. The more people Xezbeth deceived, the stronger he became.

That was why, even in the most hopeless moment of the apocalypse, he had acted as if he were giving everyone hope.

Even though this hope seemed to have revitalised everyone and everything, everyone’s energy continued to decline day by day, and Xezbeth, who presented himself as a hero with his own lies, was not the one who opened the door that led to everyone’s demise, but the one who opened it directly.

It is unknown which of the six great demons outside it was, but the high-ranking demon had nearly taken control of the entire world until Xezbeth was killed.

However, Xezbeth had just emerged from that demonic portal. He had emerged at a time when Atlas and the other Sages, the Emperor and Empress of the Epsilon Empire, every existing aura master, and especially his sister Eva, were protecting the entire world, showing everyone the light, and instilling hope.

This meant that he could not pit anyone against each other with his lies. He could not gain power from this, which limited his influence. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Perhaps things would not go as Atlas wanted. After all, only Chaos himself knew what the demons had in their hands. Reality was nothing more than a mental division for the sacred beings... Wasn’t it?

When these thoughts entered Atlas’s mind, he realised that there was no traitor among the sacred beings. Perhaps the gods and goddesses were unaware of this, but Epiales was not a traitor...

Epiales himself, known by the nickname Black Dream and perhaps one of the most disliked sacred beings, was one of the ancient Oneiroi who watched Atlas’ memories with depth and full attention.

This meant that Epiales might have made a plan in secret, considering whether there was a traitor among the gods and goddesses, just in case.

A plan to get Xezbeth out.

Still, an entire continent had been destroyed. Epiales should have been the one to bear that burden...

When Atlas scattered his meaning around and noticed everyone within a kilometre, he was certain that Xezbeth was the truth.

There was no lie, no illusion.

That was why Atlas wanted to make himself as strong as possible. At least strong enough that he wouldn’t have to limit his power afterwards.

’Dead Plains,’ Atlas said calmly. As soon as he said that, every flower and tree still alive in the area began to wither, as if dying.

After doing this, Atlas wanted to try something else. He wanted to use his ability called ’Sight,’ which he hadn’t used in a very long time.

The only reason he hadn’t used this ability was that it was powerful against those who used aura energy. However, this ability had another feature:

[Targeting].

The ability placed the targeted person under a visual lock. So, whether that person created an illusion or fled to the other side of the world, as long as the user did not stop using the ability, the location of the targeted person could be known.

This ability, when applied to a single person, might be effective against Xezbeth.
