Chapter 920: Chapter 426: The Bizarre Atmosphere of the Shura Field
Wei Liang shrugged: "What ’sending heads’ or not ’sending heads’? What kind of upright person would come up with such an unlucky name? Alright, alright, old man, you go do whatever you want. Us youngsters want to watch something exciting now, no time to play your riddle games."
The Mountain Man stared intently into Wei Liang’s eyes: "That Song Rentou carries a breath similar to yours... If you don’t answer my question, I’ll use some other means to get the answer I want."
As he spoke, his tone carried a hint of threat.
In the face of the Mountain Man’s threat, Wei Liang showed no reaction, merely sighed helplessly: "First of all, I have no idea what you’re talking about. Secondly, do whatever you want, I don’t care."
The Mountain Man, realizing his threat was ineffective, flexed the muscles near his cheeks slightly but refrained from further physical action.
He continued to glare at Wei Liang, who had resumed reading his adult manga, his eyes narrowing. Finally, he asked in a low voice: "This isn’t your first time here."
"In the late spring and early summer of X999, did you show up here?"
Wei Liang’s hand froze slightly as he flipped through his book, then he raised his head helplessly and speechlessly: "Old man, are you seriously ill? X999? This handsome guy wasn’t even born yet!"
The Mountain Man locked eyes with Wei Liang, the atmosphere turning briefly tense.
In the end, the Mountain Man turned and left without saying another word. But after taking only a few steps, he abruptly spun around and left a parting remark:
"That Song Rentou isn’t Song Rentou. And you, Wei Liang, isn’t it uncertain whether you’re truly Wei Liang?"
"I’m not here to pick a fight with you... If you came here with a purpose, I think we’d best cooperate. Those people, in order to bear the ’Ashes,’ would do anything."
After finishing his words, seeing Wei Liang unmoved, the Mountain Man descended the steps of the lecture hall. But this time, instead of returning to his seat, he hoisted several large bags and walked straight out of the classroom.
Wei Liang, fully focused on flipping through his manga, slowly raised his head, his gaze falling upon the door. His eyes appeared unfocused, as though lost in thought.
He rubbed his temples, then sighed helplessly before continuing to look through the manga in his hands.
...
X023, May 10, 9:05 AM, in front of the Teacher’s Office for "Group B, Class 2."
Lin Yi softly knocked on the door.
"Who?" The voice of Class Teacher-040 rang out from behind the door.
Lin Yi, familiar with the procedure, promptly replied: "It’s me, Lin Yi."
"Click!"
The peephole slid open, revealing an eye.
"Confirm your Student ID number."
"X0230506098."
"And the student next to you?"
Li Huiyuan jolted slightly. Though she harbored an inexplicable hostility toward Class Teacher-040, the protocol had to be followed: "Li Huiyuan, Sports Student, Sports ID number is ’Sun-X0230507046.’"
"Wait a moment." Class Teacher-040’s voice sounded from behind the door. A short pause later, the door slowly opened, accompanied by the sound of the lock turning.
Class Teacher-040, clad in a sleek black suit, appeared behind the door: "You two, come in."
Once Lin Yi and Li Huiyuan stepped inside, Class Teacher-040 quickly closed the door, offering a faint smile: "Sorry, but the procedure is necessary. Even though we’re all quite familiar, rules must still be obeyed."
"Got it, I understand." Lin Yi nodded slightly.
Li Huiyuan twitched her ears, her tone rising in curiosity: "’Quite—familiar’? Hmm?"
She directed her gaze at Lin Yi.
"Ah—!" Lin Yi drew in a sharp breath and quickly explained: "Familiar after the second meeting, you know?"
Class Teacher-040 observed the scene before him, his expression slightly awkward: "You two... a couple?"
"Not at all." Lin Yi and Li Huiyuan answered in perfect unison.
But after speaking, Li Huiyuan let out a faint "hmph."
"Anything you want to discuss or do with the teacher, start now. I’ll sit over there and watch you." She spoke sourly, heading straight for the couch and plopping down.
Suddenly, as though she’d detected something, she leaned closer to the couch to sniff it.
Her gaze turned even more resentful.
She stared at Lin Yi and Class Teacher-040 with intense bitterness, like a masterful detective uncovering some unspeakable secret between them.
Yet, she said nothing, instead simmering in silent fury on the couch, as though a brewing storm was churning within her chest. Her slender figure seemed to swell slightly, as if her anger had made her appear fuller—like an enraged Tomcat.
"I came to return the clothes and also wanted to check the Mountain Man, which is Yuan Lijian’s attendance records."
Lin Yi brought out the clothes he’d worn earlier, handing them back to Class Teacher-040.
Class Teacher-040 looked at the clothes in Lin Yi’s hands with a peculiar expression, then gestured disdainfully toward the trash bin: "If you’re returning these clothes to me, should I hang them back up? Just toss them out."
"Uh... fair enough." Lin Yi scratched his head awkwardly. Although returning the clothes had merely been a pretext to placate Li Huiyuan, the situation was undeniably embarrassing now.
He threw the clothes into the trash can, and as Class Teacher-040 opened a folder, he thoughtfully flipped to the page relevant to Yuan Lijian.
"Yuan Lijian entered the school on the afternoon of May 8. His attendance record only starts from the evening self-study session on May 8."
Lin Yi followed Class Teacher-040’s finger to the folder, but his eyes instinctively lingered on the teacher’s hand longer than necessary.
