Chapter 754: Nothing is Wrong

Yarin's POV:

Amid the cheers of the crowd, Kris left in profound humiliation. Before leaving, he seemed to want to say something to someone, but his group of lackeys had scattered like birds and beasts, avoiding his gaze within the crowd.

His expression went from anger to disbelief and gloom, and he quickly vanished without his grandfather's guidance.

"Although he's gone now, I guess people will discuss him for at least three years. He'll become one of the many legendary figures of Sivir Academy," Heller said.

"That's no longer his concern. Let's go, the teachers will probably come out to catch us soon." I brushed off the matter and turned to leave.

As school was about to end, Eden ran over to tell us that he wouldn't be going home with us today.

He seemed a bit shy, with traces of lingering pink on his ears. He said, "I made plans to hang out with classmates after school."

"Classmates?" I instinctively wanted to ask who, but then it hit me - who else could it be? So, I just nodded without asking further.

Clearly, Ms. Maggie had already talked to Lady Charlies. She seemed quite worried after hearing that her nephew had almost been attacked at school. However, she didn't rush to comfort Eden with immediate inquiries. Instead, she chose to give him more space to process his emotions by spending time with his peers.

"If it were me, I wouldn't want to be bombarded with questions right after narrowly escaping a beating. It's already uncomfortable, and all those useless concerns wouldn't make me feel any better..." Cynthia said, having overheard the situation.

"Why so downcast?" she asked. "Today, you're the hidden hero."

Hero?

I didn't see it that way.

"There's nothing praiseworthy about it. It wasn't a noble or straightforward method, and furthermore, I wasn't the one truly dealing with Kris," I replied. "It's more like a form of remedy. When someone stirs up trouble using the royal family's prestige, you've still made a mistake even if you haven't done anything. You have to do something to make amends."

Heller and Cynthia stared at me, puzzled.

"... I'm sorry, but is what you're saying really true?" Heller asked. "And what does this have to do with the royal family and us?"

"How can it not? Didn't you hear what the students were saying? They believe that the Queen would favor the Cyril Family, so they fear Kris.

"But that's just speculation. The Cyril Family doesn't have any standing in front of Mom...

"Even though it's speculation, once people take speculation as fact, the influence has already taken hold. A false show of strength - how the tiger thinks, or acts doesn't matter. What's important is that people see the intimidating fox right in front of the tiger, and even though it's just a bluff, the tiger remains indifferent."

Heller fell silent.

Cynthia spoke up, "Do you think we should tell Mom about this?"

"Why are you asking?" I looked at her.

She didn't answer directly, only asked again, "So, do you think we should tell Mom? She's overwhelmed with her duties and won't pay special attention to what's happening at the school. Should we tell her?"

After a moment's thought, I said, "Maybe we should."

"Why?" This time, it was Cynthia's turn to question me.

"... Because many people are discussing it. Not just Kris, but the Cyril Family. In their eyes, the royal family has become a shield for the Cyril Family.

"But even if that's not the case, no one will go out on the streets with a megaphone to clarify the relationship between the royal family and the Cyril Family. So people can only believe what's presented in front of them... and it looks like the royal family is backing the Cyril Family!

"Besides the Cyril Family, how many other people are pretending to be tough? Mom has many trusted ministers, the royal family has many noble supporters. Are they all saints? If anyone does anything wrong, while people condemn them, would they secretly wonder if the Queen is somehow involved? Would the royal family come to their aid?"

I spoke faster and faster, leaving Heller astonished, the spoon in his hand falling to the ground without his notice.

"... How did you come up with this?" he said, his other hand absentmindedly gesturing through the air as if trying to push away the cruel reality I was presenting, which he knew all too well.

I understood that he hoped to get a definite answer from me, so he could push the brutal truth far away. But I knew that evading reality was futile; it was there, and he knew it.

So, in the midst of his pained gaze, I asked back, "We don't know Kris either, so why would people think the Queen would help the Cyril Family?"

With a dull thud, Heller's pudding bowl also fell to the ground.

The porcelain struck the thick woolen blanket with a muffled sound, and that sound seemed

to strike my temples. Suddenly, my head became heavy, and my stomach churned, as if

something was crawling up through my insides.

I turned and rushed out, making it to the bathroom and leaning over the sink, vomiting violently -

Tainted with stomach acid, a gray, deformed moth lay in the sink, twitching weakly with its antennae, motionless.
