Chapter 755: The Crack

Chapter 755: The Crack

Yarin's POV:

I hadn't even had a chance to examine the first moth when my stomach churned again, and I vomited out more bizarre and deformed moths. Some were intact, while others were missing limbs or had only a fleshy body, wriggling like larvae for a few moments before their short lives ended.

The nauseating feeling subsided after I had thrown up seven or eight moths in succession.

Heller and Cynthia rushed over, startled by my weakened and breathless appearance as I sat slumped against the sink. They immediately asked, "What happened? Are you hurt? Are you okay?"

With keen eyes, Cynthia noticed the dead moths in the sink and realized that my condition was surely connected to them.

"Did you vomit these out?"

I weakly nodded and said, "Yes, I don't know why, they seemed to appear out of nowhere."

"We should call Mom and Dad," Cynthia said. "I hope things aren't as bad as I'm thinking, but with the moths..."

We all knew that moths were one of the symbols of Azazel.

This kind of situation certainly couldn't be hidden from the master of this place. Lady Charlies came to care for me once she learned of it. She even gave all the servants working in the back rooms a day off, forbidding them from approaching the top floor where we lived.

Upon receiving the news, Mom and Dad came quickly, and of course, Grandpa and Grandma looked anxious and were not far behind. Even Grandfather arrived in the dead of night.

No one dared to disturb the moths I had vomited out, even though Cynthia said she didn't sense any evil power from them.

Mom only needed a glance at those moths to be certain that it was connected to Azazel, "But I don't think it's serious."

She comforted me, saying, "Otherwise, these moths wouldn't have this half-dead appearance from birth. I'm inclined to think that a trace of evil power leaked out through the seal and caused this."

Mom's experience and wisdom were evident. The subsequent arrival of the werewolf grandmasters confirmed her suspicion.

As an expert in the realm of souls, Master Kevin emphasized seriously, "There's a slight loosening of the seal on your soul, very slight. The maximum impact it could have caused is giving birth to these few insects. However, this is not a reason to be complacent. Just like a dam, a crack as thin as a strand of hair might let out a few drops of water, but if left unattended, it will grow larger over time and eventually collapse the dam."

"But how did this loosening happen?" I was thoroughly puzzled. I had been at school the entire day and didn't think I had encountered any evil power.

"The seal is placed on your soul, so it's connected to your spiritual world. Therefore, once there's a significant disturbance in your spiritual world, it might affect the seal."

A disturbance in my spiritual world?

At this point, my family immediately asked, "Did something happen at school today? Did you encounter something?"

I had been at school all day, and it made sense that something happened there to unsettle me. And indeed, that was the case. The avoidance, reverence, and subtle resentment exhibited by the students when mentioning the royal family tightly gripped my heart like iron wires, making me feel short of breath and mentally exhausted.

But this was not something I could openly discuss with everyone. So, facing their inquiries, I simply mentioned that I saw Eden being bullied and Kris getting expelled, which made campus life a bit more exciting. I didn't elaborate on anything else.

The werewolf grandmasters conducted more tests, and Aunt Teresa gave me a sachet containing various herbs and flowers she had personally gathered and dried.

"It helps calm the mind and aids sleep," she said. "Hang it by your bedside when you sleep these two days. You'll definitely have a restful sleep. A weary mind isn't conducive to soul cultivation."

To mend the tiny crack in the seal, the werewolf grandmasters deliberated throughout the night before finally deciding on what kind of runes to inscribe on my body. After all, a goddess had left that seal, so caution was paramount.

The ordeal continued through the night, only concluding as the eastern horizon began to lighten. Grandpa took Grandma, his worry evident, to rest in the guest room of the Charlies Family's mansion. Dad managed to convince Grandfather to sleep, leaving just the three of us siblings and Mom and Dad.

"Now that everyone's gone, can you tell us what happened?" Mom asked. A mother knows her child best and had already discerned that I was hidng something.

I recounted what I had seen, heard, and felt at school to Mom and Dad and finally asked, "Has our family's reputation truly deteriorated to this extent? Have the people really started to see us as the villains from a movie?"

Faced with my question, Mom didn't give a direct answer; instead, she countered, "Is that so? Is that how you see it? If that's the case, have you heard any of your classmates express disgust or fear toward the royal family?"

I thought carefully, but it seemed that I hadn't. Everyone only seemed to think that the royal family might be a shield for the aristocrats, but no one had actually cursed the royal family vehemently. They directed their criticism toward the Cyril Family.

"In that case, besides what happened at school, have you heard similar comments when you're outside the palace?" Mom inquired.
