Chapter 728: The Mind Intruder

Carolyn's POV:

As I regained my composure, the prison guards surrounded us with weapons. Several

tranquilizer darts were swiftly shot at the black wolf, but it just shook its body, causing those pitiful little needles to fall off without any effect.

After returning to normal, the sharp teeth in front of me made me instinctively guard myself, but the wolf's voice relaxed me again the next second.

"I apologize for offending you, Ms. Carolyn," he sounded somewhat urgent. "There was an evil creature trying to invade your body just now, and in an emergency, I had to use this offensive approach to drive it away."

His voice sounded just like Yarin's butler, Soil.

He released me and silently retreated to sit on the side.

"Are you Spil's wolf?"

"... Yes, Miss."

I signaled the prison guards to stand down; he was on our side.

At that moment, Master Mary also walked up to me and said seriously, "Just now, Kevin and I suddenly felt a very strong fluctuation of evil power upstairs. There does seem to be a trace of evil aura left on you, Ms. Carolyn. I think Spil is right; it drove away that unknown evil creature."

"Thank you, sir," I sincerely thanked Spil. "You saved me; I would have been contaminated if it weren't for you. How can I repay you?"

"It's my duty," Spil replied stiffly and didn't answer me. It was strange; it was like the anxious wolf I saw just now was an illusion, and he suddenly became unfeeling.

Master Mary told the former king and my father, "Adele's condition is still stable, and there are no signs of another magical outburst. We both believe that external factors triggered the incomplete magical structure sealing Adele, making it seem like the seal was broken. But, in reality, Adele's seal is intact, and there are no signs of the destroyed magical structure healing."

"External factors? What could it be?" the former king asked.

"Someone else's magic, catalyzing magic potions, magical props, all of these are

possibilities. However..." Master Mary looked at me and said, "After what happened to Ms. Carolyn, I think there's a higher probability of something else."

"Evil power?"

"Yes, obviously, there's no way Adele could get potions or magical props here; the guards here are werewolves without any magical talents, so it's even less likely to be an external magical influence."

As she spoke, Spil's wolf quietly approached me.

"So, it should be some kind of evil creature that sneaked in and caused Adele's magical outburst. This outburst has made her already chaotic mental world even more disorderly, and the pain of forcibly awakening her magic led to her intense aggression and desire to escape. After all, for a lunatic who has lost her sanity, instinct dominates. When she realized there was something dirty in the room, she wanted... to escape!"

As she finished speaking, I felt that strong pulling sensation again. This time, it wasn't pulling my brain; something was trying to break out of my mind.

I felt dizzy and nauseous again, and the surroundings seemed to spin. Several chilling black mists rushed out of my seven orifices, trying to escape through the shattered window caused by the giant wolf!

However, the giant wolf, which had been waiting for a long time, certainly wouldn't let it slip away. It leaped up, opened its big mouth, and fiercely bit into the escaping black mist. Those seemingly intangible mists had substance, and the wolf's sharp teeth pierced through them, making them emit a sharp howl.

The black mist struggled, but the wolf's mouth was like an airtight cage, firmly locking it in place.

People were shocked by this sudden change, but Master Mary and I were prepared for it.

My mind's abnormalities were too obvious, and positive and negative emotions were infinitely magnified as if I were fighting myself. After the giant wolf saved me, I immediately realized that an external force caused this abnormality because I clearly wasn't a schizophrenic patient.

Master Mary subtly hinted at the possibility of an invasion, just like she could incite Adele's madness. That unknown force was gradually eroding me.

The giant wolf and I silently agreed to force this unknown evil creature out and capture it. For this, I had to think of nothing and empty myself to prevent that thing in my mind from noticing anything.

Master Mary took a transparent crystal bottle and trapped the black mist inside. Then, she used golden paint to draw complex patterns on the bottle cap, body, and neck. The more complete the patterns were, the more withered the black mist became. When the painting was complete, the black mist was motionless at the bottom of the bottle.

"This was originally prepared for Adele, in case there was something on her," Master Mary said/ "Now it doesn't seem like a waste of effort, and it suits you quite well, doesn't it, lady from the past?"
