Chapter 529: The Address
Chapter 529: The Address
Church bells rang in repeat on a bright sunny day. Petals scattered in the air, and the crowd howled in celebration.
Gastone was standing by the entrance and watched two figures standing before him. His eyes widened when Daniel lowered his head and cupped Lucia’s cheeks.
"You may now kiss the bride."
"AH!!!" Gastone shouted as his arms flung in the air. He looked around and realized he was back in Rosina’s place in the human realm. "Ugh, what a nightmare..."
Gastone sat up from the bed and breathed deeply to calm his frantic heartbeat. It took a few minutes until he settled down and slumped back to the bed. He stared at the window and saw the light coming from the curtains.
"So I get dragged back here..." Gastone scoffed. He thought he would be teleported in the forest. His dream flashed in his mind, bringing a pang in his chest.
Gastone didn’t want to attend Lucia’s wedding or witness it happening.
"I should get ready," Gastone muttered. He rubbed his eyes as he still felt a bit sleepy. "I can’t believe she drugged me," he continued, indicating about Rosina’s tea.
Gastone stood up and walked toward the mirror before him. He stared at his face and grimaced at his appearance. His hair was now lengthened at shoulder level, and his beard was showing.
However, Gastone had no strength to groom himself. He deemed it useless.
"Remember, we need to drag Giselle back into the werewolf realm. Don’t ever think of disturbing Lucia anymore," Gastone pointed at the mirror to remind himself of his duty.
Gastone lowered his head and sat back on the edge of the bed, his thoughts spinning as he wrestled with his emotions. The human realm felt suffocating yet nostalgic, a paradox he couldn’t shake.
A faint creak of the floorboards beneath his feet reminded him how real this moment was. Despite the serenity of the morning, Gastone’s mind was consumed with conflict.
"Ah, what should I do first?" Gastone rubbed his chin. He had an urge to know Lucia’s situation, but Vanda’s words rang inside his mind.
"Focus!" Gastone shouted, slapping his thighs to reflect the pain in his system. He ran his fingers through his messy hair, wincing as he untangled a few knots.
"Giselle," Gastone muttered, the name tasting foreign yet familiar. His mission was clear, but the idea of confronting her again, especially after everything that happened, made his stomach churn.
"I should visit her today," Gastone muttered. He grabbed his bag from the floor and rummaged through his stuff.
After an hour, Gastone was ready. He’d thrown on a plain shirt and trousers, his disheveled hair tied loosely at the nape of his neck. He hadn’t bothered shaving. The weariness in his eyes told its own story.
Gastone went to the garage, where his other car was located, and drove toward his restaurant to his office. It took another hour to reach the place, and when he got out of the car, his mouth hung open.
He remembered telling his manager to manage the restaurant, but now, it looked abandoned.
The furniture was no longer there, and the glass walls were shattered. The landscape around the restaurant looked like an untamed forest.
"I got robbed, huh," Gastone shook his head and amusedly chuckled. He didn’t care what would happen to the restaurant when he left the human realm, but seeing how his hard work became rotten still affected him negatively.
Gastone walked toward his office. He was confident it was untouched by robbers since he ensured it was heavily locked.
"I guess I put too much trust in a human. This is my fault," Gastone muttered after seeing the scratch marks on the walls and on his office door, which looked like they were trying to open it.
Gastone pulled out his key and unlocked the door smoothly. He was greeted by a thick smell of dried wine and wood; he pinched his nose while trying to adjust to the scent. He smiled as the room remained untouched.
"Ugh!" Gastone groaned. He didn’t waste time and went straight to his desk, where Giselle’s file was hidden.
Gastone found the envelope at the bottom. He pulled it out and flipped the pages. "Address, I just need the address..." he whispered, and his eyes caught what he was looking for. He grabbed a piece of paper on his desk and wrote the Orphanage’s address before hiding the files again.
He was about to leave when he glanced at the table.
Gastone remembered how intimate he and Lucia were in that place. His body heated up, and his senses remembered Lucia’s scent and soft skin.
"Ah! Focus!" Gastone slapped his cheeks to bring him back to reality. He looked away and hurriedly left the place.
As Gastone drove toward the Orphanage, he wondered how he would talk to Giselle without her being hostile.
The road became rougher as Gastone approached the outskirts of the city, where the Orphanage was located. It stood on a hill, surrounded by thick woods that seemed both protective and foreboding.
The building looked imposing from a distance, with tall iron gates and high stone walls.
"Woah," Gastone raised his brow as he looked at the place. He wondered how strong Lucia was for escaping their grasp.
Gastone parked his car in a clearing a short distance away, not wanting to draw too much attention. He tightened his coat, the chill of the wind cutting through his shirt, and approached the gates on foot.
As Gastone neared, two guards stepped forward, their stance rigid and stern expressions. Both were armed, and their uniforms bore no insignias Gastone recognized. They looked like mercenaries, not official security.
"Halt!" one of the guards barked, his hand resting at his waist. "State your business."
Gastone raised his hands slightly, palms outward, in a non-threatening gesture. "I’m here to meet someone, Giselle," he said evenly, his voice calm but firm.
The second guard narrowed his eyes. "Name?"
"Gastone," he replied. "Giselle knows me. I need to speak with her. It’s urgent."
