Chapter 528: The Portal’s Release
After three days, Rosina finally visited Gastone. She knocked on the front door, but there was no answer. However, she could smell him.
"What is he doing?" Rosina muttered as she opened the door. She was about to go to his room but smelled his scent in the garden.
That was when Rosina saw Gastone lying on the ground looking dirty while staring at the sky.
"Gastone!" Rosina called, but she was ignored. She walked closer and stopped beside Gastone. "Are you okay?"
Rosina saw the dark circles under Gastone’s eyes and how stressed he looked.
Gastone’s eyes glanced at Rosina. He knew she was there but had no strength to greet her. "You’re finally here. I have been waiting."
"Ah, we’re investigating something. It’s still ongoing, but I think it will be fine," Rosina explained. "Now, are you ready... or do you need more time to prepare?" she asked cautiously.
"I’m fine, ugh," Gastone groaned as he sat up, his bones cracking.
Rosina observed Gastone’s clothes and how the dirt stuck to them and to his skin. She glanced at the soil and saw how it formed to Gastone’s body shape.
’Did he stay here for a couple of days?’ Rosina thought, squinting her eyes, but she never mentioned it.
"Maybe you need more time to prepare, don’t you think?" Rosina suggested, thinking it was better for Gastone to be stable first.
"NO!" Gastone shouted. His voice was rough with a hint of rage.
Rosina flinched in surprise, her eyes widening. "Woah, chill," she said and raised both hands in surrender. She never expected Gastone to snap at her.
"Oh," Gastone looked up and stared at Rosina’s reaction. That was when he realized what he had done. "Oh! I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to shout at you... I’m just... just..."
Gastone paused, unable to continue to share what he was feeling. He wanted to ask Rosina about his encounter with Vanda and the words she said to him, but he didn’t want Rosina to lecture him again.
Deep inside, Gastone thought Rosina would take Vanda’s side and agreed with her to leave Lucia alone. He didn’t want to hear that again, as it only made his heart hurt.
Rosina’s eyes softened. She crouched down to level at Gastone’s eyes. "I don’t know why you’re reacting that way, and if you don’t want to tell me. It’s okay, but I’m here for you, okay?" she whispered softly, taking Gastone’s hand to show her care.
Gastone avoided Rosina’s gaze. "Okay," he said flatly.
Rosina forced a smile and nodded. "Are you prepared? I can bring you to the human realm today."
"Today?" Gastone replied, his eyes widening. He hadn’t prepared and spent his time doing nothing while his mind was working overtime with thoughts he couldn’t control.
Rosina nodded. "Yes, today is the only day I can escape my responsibilities. So it has to be today."
Gastone stared at Rosina for a few seconds before scurrying and running back to his room. He had already packed several of his stuff, but it wasn’t enough.
Rosina followed behind but stopped at the kitchen to make herself a cup of tea. She knew it would take a while, so she wanted to relax in the meantime.
’Hmm, I wonder what happened to Gastone and why he became that depressed... Is it because he’s going back to the human realm... or something else troubled him,’ Rosina thought, scratching her chin. She had been busy taking care of the royal duties, caring for her son, and observing Draco’s situation.
It took a toll on Rosina’s body and mind. She wanted to use the trip to the human realm as a vacation, but Gastone insisted. Now, she had no vacation days.
"Ah, I should have enjoyed more time being single..." Rosina murmured, leaning back to the chair.
Then the kitchen door burst open with Gastone freshly out of the shower and a bag in hand. "I’m done. We can go now," he exclaimed, breathing deeply as if he had gone to a marathon.
Rosina raised an eyebrow. "Okay, but first. Have some tea," she stated, pushing a cup toward Gastone’s space.
Gastone frowned but nodded. He sat on the chair and immediately smelled the sweet aroma of the tea, which contained more milk than the tea itself. He preferred it bitter, but he took a sip rather than complain.
"It’s... it’s tasty," Gastone forced a compliment even though his eyes were twitching from too much sweetness.
Rosina watched as Gastone tried to sip more while she remained silent. She pulled out her pocket watch and looked at the time. "It’s only a matter of seconds now," she whispered.
"Seconds of what?" Gastone asked curiously, but then he felt nauseous. He supported his head with his arm but was also losing strength.
Rosina sighed and smiled softly while staring at Gastone. "Have a good sleep. Don’t worry, you’ll be fine."
"Huh? What are you—"
Before Gastone could finish his sentence. His consciousness turned black as he slept peacefully on the table.
Rosina closed her pocket watch and put it in her pocket. "It’s time," she said, going beside Gastone. She touched his head and started petting him like a dog.
"You’ve changed so much, Gastone. I missed the old you, but the new you is better," Rosina whispered, kissing Gastone’s forehead. "Love must done you good. So don’t give up on it."
Rosina turned to the side and grabbed the nearest knife. She placed it on her palm and cut her skin, causing blood to drip. She whisked her blooded hand in the air as her blood floated in the atmosphere.
"Release!" Rosina exclaimed, and her blood immediately formed a circle before her. Then, a light appeared in the middle, and a portal was created. She grabbed Gastone’s bag and tossed it in the portal first before she dragged Gastone.
"Don’t disappoint me, Gastone. I’m taking a gamble here," Rosina whispered in Gastone’s ear before she flung him inside the portal.
