Chapter 527: The Unexpected Visit

After Gastone’s talk with Rosina. It has been days since they didn’t communicate again. He thought he would immediately go straight to the human realm, but Rosina told him to wait.

"Why is she taking so long?" Gastone muttered, staring at the ceiling of his room.

Ever since Gastone planned to return to the human realm, he had been thinking of Lucia and her current situation.

"Is she married now?" Gastone turned to the side and hugged his pillow for comfort. His heart ached again, but it wasn’t that painful since he had finally accepted their broken bond.

"Ah! Why am I even thinking about this? I’m sure she’s already married. It’s almost a month now," Gastone slapped his cheeks to wake him up from his delusions. He sat up and decided to cook for breakfast to spare his mind from thinking.

However, when Gastone opened the door, he was greeted by someone.

"Vanda..." Gastone frowned and took a step back. He was still cautious of her even though Rosina told him she wasn’t a bad person.

"Okay, first. I did knock a few times," Vanda raised both hands to show she was harmless.

Gastone’s eyes narrowed as he scanned Vanda’s expression. Although she seemed calm, her demeanor had an undertone of urgency.

"What are you doing here, Vanda?" Gastone asked, his voice tinged with suspicion.

Vanda stepped inside, uninvited but not unwelcome, and leaned casually against the wall. Her shady eyes met his, unwavering. "I came to talk about Lucia."

"You know about my ex-mate," Gastone whispered. The mention of Lucia’s name made Gastone’s heart clench involuntarily. He tried to mask his reaction but failed miserably. "What about her?" he asked, closing the door behind Vanda.

Vanda sighed, her shoulders relaxing slightly. "I know you’re still hung up on her. And, frankly, I understand why. Human or not, she’s... captivating," she paused, her gaze softening before hardening again. "But you need to let her go, Gastone. Completely."

Gastone’s jaw tightened. "That’s not your decision to make," he snapped, glaring at Vanda. "Besides, our bond is already broken. So there’s no need for you to snoop around."

"I know, but I’m not stupid," Vanda crossed her arms. Determination was evident on her face to get Gastone to agree with her.

"Leave Lucia alone. I don’t know what you’re up to, but she needs to be out of the story." Gastone remained firm, never letting Vanda’s eyes leave him.

"Then perhaps don’t think about going to Lucia when you return to the human realm," Vanda suggested, but her voice sounded like she was commanding Gastone, and he didn’t like it.

"You!" Gastone growled warningly. "You’re not in a place to decide what I should do!"

Vanda became agitated, and her voice rose. "You know it as well as I do— humans and werewolves don’t belong together. Not in this realm, not in any realm. Think about this, Gastone. Judge clearly."

"Who are you to give such a nasty speech!" Gastone growled loudly as he reached his limit. He jumped toward Vanda, gripped the collar of her shirt, and slammed her to the wall. "You don’t know anything!"

Gastone was angry at Vanda’s acting as if she knew everything about him and Lucia when she wasn’t there at all. This triggered his wolf, which was growling inside his mind, telling him to kill Vanda.

Vanda grabbed Gastone’s hand for support as her body lifted from the ground. "Hear me out! I’m doing this for the realm!"

"The Moon Goddess gave Lucia as my mate. How dare you question her decision!" Gastone gripped Vanda’s collar tightly before throwing her to the side in a loud stud.

"Ah!" Vanda winched in pain, but she didn’t care. She snapped at Gastone. "I know! I know everything!"

"Huh?" Gastone’s rage quieted down after hearing what Vanda said. It was replaced with curiosity and confusion. "Explain!"

"I can’t!" Vanda shouted, standing up. "I’m telling you this as a warning, Gastone."

"And what if I don’t want anyone else? What if she’s the only one who ever made me feel... alive?" Gastone’s voice softened. He stepped back and brushed his hair back. "What will you do about it?"

Vanda’s expression shifted, a flicker of sympathy crossing her face. "Then you’ll spend the rest of your life chasing a ghost. Is that what you want? For yourself? For her?"

The room fell silent, except for Gastone’s shallow breaths. Finally, he shook his head. "A ghost? Are you telling me she’s dead?"

"I’ll leave you to think," Vanda said softly, turning toward the door. "But don’t take too long, Gastone. Life doesn’t wait, not even for love."

As the door closed behind Vanda, Gastone stood frozen, her words echoing in his mind.

Gastone stood on his spot for minutes as his mind kept repeating his conversation with Vanda. He felt it was a warning and a threat at the same time.

Gastone began pacing back and forth in his room, his wolf stirring uneasily within him. Vanda’s words gnawed at his thoughts, her cryptic warning refusing to fade. He clenched his fists, his nails digging into his palms as he whispered, "A ghost... What does she mean by that?"

"... and she wants me to leave Lucia be. That will only make me want to find her and see if she’s doing well!" Gastone continued and gritted his teeth in frustration. He fisted his hands together as a burning feeling born within his heart.

Gastone’s mind spiraled.

’Was Vanda implying Lucia was gone? Or was she speaking metaphorically?’

Gastone thought as he slammed his palm against the wall, the sound echoing through the room. "Why can’t anyone just speak plainly? Why all these riddles and half-truths?"

The image of Lucia’s face, her laughter, and her warm touch flashed in Gastone’s mind.

The bond may have been broken, but the memories were indelible.

"No," Gastone muttered. "I can’t just let this go." He needed clarity—whether it was closure or the truth, he wasn’t sure.

However, Gastone was sure to look for Lucia when he returned to the human realm.
