Chapter 507: The Pawn in The Game

Gastone’s eyes narrowed, his suspicions deepening. "What do you mean you don’t play by the same rules?"

The woman’s gaze flickered with a hint of amusement as she leaned back against the railing, seemingly unbothered by the earlier confrontation. "Daniel is... predictable. He likes to control everything and everyone around him. But me? I thrive in chaos. I create opportunities where he sees none."

"Opportunities for what?" Gastone asked, still on edge. He needed to understand her angle, especially if it concerned Daniel, who was connected to Lucia.

"For power, for freedom. For those who refuse to be chained by the old ways." the woman’s voice softened, but her words carried an undeniable edge.

"Have you already forgotten you’re not a human?" Gastone whispered, stepping a bit closer toward the woman. "You’re meddling too much in this realm."

The woman shrugged. She didn’t care about whether she was a human or a wolf. "That’s in the past, Gastone. Let’s not dwell in that useless matter."

Gastone felt a chill run down his spine. "You still haven’t told me who you are," he stated firmly.

"I’m Giselle. Nice to meet you," Giselle stated, offering her hand for a handshake.

Gastone looked at Giselle’s hand momentarily, debating whether he would take it.

"Come on. We should get ourselves acquainted," Giselle smiled widely, grabbing Gastone’s hand forcefully.

Gastone stared at Giselle. Somehow, he felt like he had heard that name before but couldn’t remember where or when.

"Anyways, thank you for joining the ’Business’ world. You’re an additional money in my pocket," Giselle smiled wickedly, turning her back to leave, but Gastone stopped her.

"What kind of business are you doing?" Gastone asked. He was about to let it go, but what Giselle said regarding the ’Business’ world made him realize she was also involved in the human meat business.

Giselle turned back with a giggle. "You should ask Lucia," she replied menacingly.

Gastone’s eyes widened at the mention of Lucia. The name hit him like a punch to the gut, stirring nervously inside him. His thoughts twirled about how Giselle knew about Lucia.

"What does Lucia have to do with this?" Gastone asked, trying to keep his voice steady.

Giselle’s eyes gleamed with a dangerous mix of amusement and something more sinister. She stepped closer to Gastone until they were only two inches apart. "I could smell her scent on you. Just a faint one, but I have a good nose."

Gastone growled. He didn’t like where the conversation was going. "Tell me, what are you going to do with her?" he whispered aggressively, showing his dominance.

"Haha, I’m not doing anything, Gastone. All I want was for Lucia to stop her ’little thing’ going on. Right now, the demand of the human meat is high. I don’t want her to ruin it," Giselle glared at Gastone. She knew he was associated with her.

Gastone felt a wave of nausea wash over him. "What’s your role in all this?" he demanded, his hand tightening on the railing as he tried to keep himself grounded.

Gastone tried his best to keep his emotions in check and wanted to gather all the information he could get from Giselle.

Giselle shrugged again, her demeanor calm and detached. "Since we’re both the only Werewolves in this realm. I’ll tell you, and maybe one day, we can work together," she stated, grinning. She also wanted to be associated with Gastone in hopes of catching Lucia.

"I’ll think about it," Gastone replied, crossing his arms.

"I’m the supplier. I ensure the right people get what they need, when they need it and the best quality. It’s all very simple, really. And very profitable," Giselle explained, hinting that she was the root of the human meat business.

Gastone’s mind raced. He had stumbled into something far bigger and more dangerous than he had anticipated. But now that he was in, there was no turning back.

"I see," Gastone rubbed his chin, acting interested, but deep inside he was shaking.

"I don’t know what is your relationship with Lucia, but I can also smell her scent from Daniel," Giselle shook her head in disappointment. "You two should be careful around her."

"You seem to know a lot about Lucia," Gastone asked, his tone flat to avoid suspicion.

Giselle’s smile faded, replaced by a look of mild irritation. "That b^tch is a thorn in this peaceful world. Too selfish and too self-centered. She’s doesn’t see the bigger picture, and only focuses on nonsense stuff that gives no profit! Ugh, this makes me stress out!"

Gastone took a deep breath, trying to steady his nerves. When Giselle cursed Lucia, the wolf raged so much that it wanted to rip Giselle’s neck into two.

"I will take that as an useful information," Gastone replied, showing a small smile.

Giselle raised an eyebrow. She was testing Gastone and observed his reaction to the words she dropped. She didn’t trust him entirely, but seeing that he didn’t react negatively made her think Lucia tried to get in contact with him, but it wasn’t that important.

"Now that we exchanged words and little details. I guess we’re in the same boat. I’ll be looking forward to your orders," Giselle smiled widely. She liked it when money was involved in the conversation.

"My restaurant is not that big at the moment," Gastone informed. "So don’t expect much from me."

"Haha! That’s nonsense. A new taste of flavor will surely bring your restaurant in the top chain. Just like the other business owners," Giselle giggled playfully.

Gastone nodded slowly. "I’ll look forward to seeing you again... in the future," he stated, showing he wanted to continue doing business with them as a cover.

"That’s good. I’ll see you around," Giselle turned to leave; she glanced back over her shoulder and locked with Gastone’s. "And Gastone... remember, in this world, trust is a luxury you can’t afford."

With that, Giselle disappeared into the crowd, leaving Gastone alone on the balcony.

"This is much more troublesome than I thought," Gastone muttered. He realized that he was now a pawn in a much larger game.

A game where the stakes were life and death, and the rules were anything but fair.
