Chapter 495: The Salon

Daniel’s eyes widened in astonishment. He was surprised at Gastone’s action and somehow, he felt tingling inside his stomach.

"That’s... That’s too much," Daniel stuttered as he stepped back, removing his chin from Gastone’s finger. He turned around to save himself from embarrassment and gathered back his dignity.

"But you said it yourself," Gastone shrugged as it didn’t bother him, but he liked how Daniel reacted. For him, he showed what it was like to become a prey to be eaten.

However, Daniel thought differently.

"Ugh, let’s get back to the topic at hand," Daniel shook his head and calmed his beating heart. He walked to one of the nearby cells as the children cower in fear. "You can pick one from these products and we can cook it for you to taste."

Gastone felt a lump at the back of his throat. He couldn’t ignore how nonchalant Daniel was as he spoke those words.

"No, you don’t have to. I already made up my mind. Perhaps, we can discuss this back in your office," Gastone stated calmly.

"Sure, I’d like to hear your decision," Daniel agreed and hurriedly left the room. He eyed the guards, who immediately closed and locked the door.

Gastone observed what had happened silently and wondered if Lucia was one of the products before and was able to escape, but he still had many questions in mind.

As they arrived back in the office, Daniel prepared a cup of tea for the both of them and opened a new pack of vanilla biscuits. He was a bit anxious about Gastone’s decision, but most of all, he was staring at him the whole time.

"Here, have some s-snacks," Daniel placed the food on the table before them.

"I’m not that hungry," Gastone replied, but he still ate a biscuit. He could sense Daniel’s worried aura and was amused by it.

Daniel nodded in understanding. He sipped the tea without thinking it was hot and burned his tongue. He flinched back quickly, causing the tea to spill. "Ah!"

Gastone quickly grabbed the cup, ignoring the heat, and pushed Daniel back on the sofa to prevent further damage. "Are you okay?" he asked in concern.

"I-I’m fine..." Daniel breathed heavily at how fast things had happened. His eyes glanced at Gastone’s hand holding the hot cup. "It’s hot!" he exclaimed in worry.

Gastone shook his head and placed the cup on the table. "You should be careful," he stated, grabbing the nearest towel and, helped Daniel clean himself.

All that time, Daniel was speechless. He had never seen a man who acted like a real man as he himself couldn’t do it. He wiped his lips and composed his self. "I-I will," he replied timidly.

Gastone had finished cleaning and sat back on the sofa next to Daniel. There was a long silence between the two of them as Daniel waited for Gastone’s decision.

"Hmm, I do not fancy eating this human meat, but I’m willing to cooperate with you," Gastone stated while rubbing his chin.

"Ah! That’s great!" Daniel exclaimed in delight. After all, he was able to convince Gastone.

"However, I want you to be transparent with me. This is a dangerous business proposal you have and I don’t want my restaurant to receive damages if something ominous happens," Gastone crossed his arms as he said those words seriously.

Daniel’s smile faded as he became solemn. "Sure, we’re both going to take advantage of this in any way," he stated with a smirk.

Gastone took the folder and signed the papers with his signature and name. It was a big risk on his part, but he was willing to do it for Lucia’s sake and to help her.

"You won’t regret it," Daniel stated with happiness evident in his voice even though he wore a serious facial expression.

"I hope so. I hope we will have a smooth transaction in the upcoming future... for our business to strive," Gastone took a tea cup and raised it.

Daniel smiled and did the same to celebrate the start of their cooperation.

On the other hand, Lucia was gritting her teeth in annoyance. She wanted to know what Gastone had been doing at that moment and how he dropped her call.

"Hmm, should I go to Daniel’s house instead?" Lucia thought of an option. After all, Missus Belo wasn’t coming back to her flower shop recently. However, the resident was a private one, so she would have a slight chance of coming in alone.

Lucia paced back and forth. She knew Daniel would visit her soon, but she couldn’t wait for another day. She felt the more time she wasted, the more kids were dying and she didn’t want that to continue.

The very next day, Lucia went to famous, high-end salons in the area to see if she could find leads to where Missus Belo went to get her hair done. After checking numerous stores, they knew Missus Belo, but she wasn’t their usual customer.

"I have gone to almost high-end salons, but she’s not there..." Lucia whispered to herself while crossing out another store’s name in her list. That was when a thought appeared in her mind.

"My flower shop isn’t a high-end one but she’s buying from me?" Lucia murmured as the realization slapped her. She immediately ran to the nearby salon that was known for its good results at a low price.

It didn’t take long for Lucia to arrive at the location and to her luck, she saw Missus Belo sitting on one of the stalls with a smile on her face while talking to a hairstylist.

"Jackpot!" Lucia whispered in delight and clenched her fist. She fixed her hair and calmly walked inside the salon as if she didn’t know Missus Belo was there.

Lucia opened the door and did a surprised expression. "Oh! Missus Belo! You’re here!" Lucia exclaimed and clasped her mouth in a fake surprise.

Missus Belo turned around and her eyes widened upon seeing Lucia. "Omo! I didn’t expect to see you here! Come!" she said while gesturing for Lucia to walk towards her.
