Chapter 496: The Meet Up

Lucia acted surprised and hurriedly went beside Missus Belo and offered a kiss on her cheek.

"Missus Belo! Oh gosh! I missed you," Lucia exclaimed with delight as she showed her best smile. She gave a light hug after the kiss and stood one step away from the Missus.

"Ah! Lucia, my dear. How are you?" Missus Belo asked with a grin. She swatted the hairdresser and focused her attention on Lucia. "Have a seat beside me," she added.

Lucia complied and sat on the nearest chair on the side. "You look radiant, Missus Belo," she said softly.

"Thank you! Ah~ I just want to look more younger to make the other ladies jealous. I’ll be having a birthday party next week. Would you like to come?" Missus Belo asked with hopeful eyes. She had been thinking of inviting Lucia and getting her closer to Daniel.

Lucia’s eyes widened at the opportunity. "Sure! I would love to go!" she nodded her head aggressively in excitement. She thought she needed to create another plan, but a blessing came her way.

"Great. I will write you a letter about the theme of the party and the dress code. Oh, do you have the funds to buy good clothing?" Missus Lucia asked with a raised eyebrow. She knew Lucia’s business was striving, but her party was an elite one and she didn’t want to be embarrassed if her guest looked poor.

Lucia nodded. "Yes, I have a fancy one stored in my closet," she said with a chuckle.

"That’s a relief, but if you ever needed an extra amount for the party. Just call me," Missus Belo smiled. She wanted the best for Lucia for her son.

"Thank you, Missus Belo. I won’t disappoint you," Lucia stated gracefully.

After that, both women talked about random hairstyles, but it mostly revolved around Missus Belo and her choices of type that fitted her dress to be worn at the party.

It took hours before Missus Belo finished picking what she wanted that satisfied her taste.

On the other side, Lucia wanted to cut Missus Belo’s hair in annoyance at her pickiness, but she sucked it in and waited until it ended, finally.

"You look beautiful whatever style you choose, Missus Belo," Lucia stated while staring at Missus Belo’s hair while she gazed at herself in the mirror.

"Hmm, that’s nice to hear, but I need more than beautiful. I need gorgeous," Missus Belo said while flipping her hair. She looked back at Lucia and walked closer.

"You are gorgeous, Missus Belo," Lucia replied in order to make Missus Belo satisfied.

"Thank you, now. I need to hurry back home since Daniel has good news!" Missus Belo said with glee. She winked at Lucia before giving a goodbye kiss on the cheeks and left in a hurry.

Lucia smiled and acted happy, but deep inside, she wanted to puke. She thought of the good news as Daniel’s good income by selling human meat.

"Next week... I need to know what it is," Lucia whispered to herself before leaving the salon and hurriedly went home. She lied about having a good, expensive dress to wear, but she had the funds to buy one, which wasn’t a problem for her.

As Lucia was walking back home, she felt someone following her. Her skin shivered, but she tried to act cool and normal.

’Joseph...’ Lucia thought it was him who was tracking her. She fastened her pace in hopes of getting away faster while slowly reaching toward the knife hidden under her shirt.

A hand grabbed Lucia’s arm to stop her. At the same time, Lucia pulled out her knife but didn’t stab the stranger since she might be mistaken.

"Lucia," a familiar voice spoke that sent a shudder on Lucia’s back.

"G-Gastone!" Lucia exclaimed and hurriedly hid the knife behind her, but Gastone saw it. Although, he said nothing, rather, he was proud that Lucia protected herself if someone tried to hurt her.

Gastone smiled and stepped back. "I went to see you since you called me. Is something wrong?" he asked.

Lucia’s passive smile dropped as she recalled how Gastone dropped the call on her face. "Hmph!" she turned around and walked faster.

Gastone was dumbfounded as he couldn’t understand why Lucia was acting like that. He followed behind her and tried talking, but he was ignored.

"Lucia, did I do something wrong? Talk to me," Gastone said softly as if he was begging for her attention.

Lucia stopped walking and faced Gastone. She wanted Daniel’s number, but since she would be going to Missus Belo’s party, she didn’t need him anymore. "There’s nothing to talk about. So, excuse me, I’m tired," she stated aggressively.

Gastone opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. He stopped chasing Lucia and gave up. He was also tired from talking to Daniel and doing both business while investigating on the side.

"Alright," Gastone stated before walking away. He was about to go inside his car when he smelled Lucia coming for him.

"Wait!" Lucia shouted to prevent Gastone from leaving. She didn’t know why, but her body reacted on its own upon thinking that he would go away.

Gastone stared at Lucia with wide eyes. "Lucia... are you... feeling well?" he asked upon noticing the shade of red on her cheeks.

"Ah... Ah- ah!" Lucia stuttered and didn’t know what to say as she herself was confused at what she had done. "Well, I just remembered what I wanted to say!"

Gastone nodded in understanding. He waited for Lucia’s decision, but he received silence instead. "Uh, what do you want to say?" he asked.

Lucia bit her lips as she messed up her brain to find the exact words to say. "We... We can talk somewhere else... not out here," she reasoned and hesitantly went to the other side of the car.

Gastone raised both his eyebrows in astonishment while watching Lucia get inside his car. He only shook his head and entered the driver’s seat. "So, where are we going?" he asked while starting the engine.

Lucia fidgeted as she experienced extreme embarrassment deep inside. "W-we can go to your restaurant!" she exclaimed and turned her head away.

Gastone couldn’t help but chuckle. "Yes, ma’am."
