Chapter 289: The Unwanted Guest

Felissa took a deep breath. She was standing at the door to the other room, wearing a new dress that Vanda had given her. It was the same green pastel colored gown, but the design was different. It covered most of her skin.

"I got this!" Felissa encouraged herself but couldn’t understand why she was sent to that room. Taking a deep breath, she pushed the door opened and revealed a private room where mates were seated to one another, but Rosina was not in sight.

"Lady Felissa, please come this way," Silvio stated, gesturing toward an empty chair at the side.

Felissa stared at the man. She was familiar with his face but couldn’t pinpoint where she had seen him. Shrugging it off, she focused on what would gonna happen.

"Umm, Sir, what is this place?" Felissa whispered to Silvio. She didn’t know anyone inside since they were all commoners.

"This room is for the wolves to present their partners to the Queen, Lady Felissa," Silvio replied firmly before standing on his post. He was tasked to guard the guests as a precaution if they would wild up if Rosina rejected their proposal.

"Ah, thank you," Felissa stated with a slight nod. She fidgeted with her dress since she didn’t expect to be there. She wondered if Fabio would arrive or not and what would happen afterwards.

Several wolves noticed that Felissa was sitting alone and began to whisper among themselves that she might have been ditched at the last minute.

"NOOO! I need to get married to him!!!" a woman’s voice screamed so loud in the other part of the room where a door was located.

The door bust open, and a woman came out with tears in her eyes. Two knights held her on either side since she was trying to run back. The man she was supposed to marry was walking at the back with a defeated look.

Both were escorted out of the room.

Murmurs started echoing inside. They didn’t know the reason for what had happened and the purpose of seeing the Queen. That made them anxious since several of them were not true mates.

"Next!" an announcer stated and gestured to the next couple.

The wolves entered the room, and the door closed to give them privacy, but it didn’t take long before the couple came out with smiles on their faces. They were holding a small red pouch that contained a small token from the Queen.

"What is happening?" the lady beside Felissa asked her partner. The results confused them, and they thought Rosina was choosing their partners.

Felissa couldn’t help but get nervous. She stared at the door and prayed to the Moon Goddess that Fabio wouldn’t show his face.

Time passed by, and the couples started to reduce inside the room. Several went out with happy, delightful faces, while some were sour.

Felissa was the only one left in the room after the last couple went out. Her heartbeat was pounding loudly. She was nervous since it was her turn.

"Next," the announcer stated and raised an eyebrow toward Felissa since it was obvious it was her turn.

Felissa stood up and slowly went inside the other room. At the center was Rosina sitting on the sofa, sipping a cup of warm milk.

"Ah, Lady Felissa, you have arrived," Rosina muttered, putting down the glass. She raised an eyebrow upon seeing that Felissa was alone.

"Yes, Your Majesty," Felissa replied, glancing at the side where the two knights stood still.

"Hmm, so where’s your mate?" Rosina asked gently. She was getting agitated upon seeing Felissa wearing a different dress. She felt that something might have happened earlier.

"Ah, I... don’t have one," Felissa whispered, looking down. She couldn’t look into Rosina’s eyes after what had happened to her.

Rosina sighed and looked at the knights. "Please leave us," she commanded, and the knights went outside.

The room became silent, and the sound of their breaths resonated inside.

Rosina smiled softly. She remembered when she erased Felissa’s memories for her sake when they met back in the Mating Event, but she wasn’t expecting that it would repeat.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Rosina asked and stood up from her seat.

Felissa pursed her lips. She sighed deeply to keep her calm, but her hands were trembling.

"I... don’t have... a mate," Felissa repeated those words, sadder than the first.

"It’s alright, you can always find him," Rosina replied and was about to hug Felissa to comfort her when the door burst open.

Both ladies looked at who interrupted them, and the terror in Felissa’s eyes showed that the guest was not welcomed.

"Your Majesty, I’m sorry for the delay," Fabio bowed gently as if nothing had happened earlier. He was carrying his jacket that contained the pasta’s stain, and his hair was wet.

"What are you... doing here?" Felissa whispered in disbelief. She was confident that Fabio wouldn’t come after all that waiting outside, and she didn’t expect him to show his face after he assaulted her earlier.

"I won’t miss this chance," Fabio replied with a loving gaze, hiding his true nature.

Rosina didn’t say a thing. She stepped back and sat on the sofa with her legs crossed. After observing little details of what was happening between them, she already knew that Fabio was not Felissa’s mate. She concluded that Fabio wanted the Alpha title after marrying Felissa.

’Clever,’ Rosina thought with a smirk. She was amused by Fabio’s dedication to achieving what he wanted, and she wasn’t against that, but that didn’t mean she would let that happen.

"Alright, you two. Take a seat," Rosina stated, gesturing toward the sofa before her, but Fabio shook his head.

"Your Majesty, I don’t want to take much of your time. I want this to be done as fast as possible," Fabio demanded, grabbing Felissa’s hand and pulling her toward him.

Felissa flinched and stepped back from Fabio, but she didn’t want to cause a scene in front of Rosina.
