Alpha Damon's Greatest Regret -
Chapter 49- Thravasi
Chapter 49: Chapter 49- Thravasi
DAMON~
I looked through the the glass of the helicopter as we hovered through the air, the journey had been long, taking a plane from Howlcreek to the continent then a couple hours ride on the chopper that brought us to where we currently were.
All I could see were trees that spread as far as the eyes could see, I looked to Carlos who sat beside me, and faked a smile, I had a bad feeling about this place but I forced it down cause duty comes first.
"Take us down!" I ordered, my voice barely audible through the sound of the helicopter’s moving blades.
"Ok." The pilot said and we began going down slowly till we got as low as the vehicle could be without causing problems, Carlos opened the door and threw out the ladder.
"I’ll go first." He said and began gracefully climbing down the unstable ladder, it didn’t take long before he reached the ground then I followed suit. As I touched the ground I gave the signal for the helicopter to leave, now we stood in the middle of wherever the fuck this was with no direction to the place we were supposed to be going to whatsoever.
"What do we do now?" Carlos asked as he looked around the envelopment of trees.
"Alpha!!!" I shouted at the top of my voice, The sudden disturbance caused the birds to fly out of the trees and the animals that roamed around to scurry away.
"What was that for?" Carlos asked.
"I don’t—" before I could complete my sentence I began hearing the steps of people approaching us, Carlos immediately took a stance and my eyes glowed as Nox got ready for anything that was to come. The sounds of the steps kept getting closer till eventually they reached us, the first man stepped out of the forest, with dirty brown hair, bronze skin, and a slim yet muscular build, he had no shirt on but his lower body looked to be covered with golden fur, Carlos tensed up and I could understand why, the look in the man’s eyes were bizarre and the way his eyes were fixed on me sent a sick feeling down my stomach but he was just the first of them. As more of them began stepping into the open, dressed like him, some more muscular, some incredibly tall, some short, muscular, slim but they all had one thing in common, the look in their eyes was hungry with bloodlust as they stared at us, Carlos tightened his hold on his daggers and even though I knew it wouldn’t end well for me, I was fully prepared to call out Nox when a man stepped out, immediately I recognized him, Leo of Thravasi, deep brown eye’s, a nose that looked to have been broken several times, dark lips, black plaited hair neatly tied in a bun, his already dark skin tanned till it resembled chocolate, a gigantic muscular build with tattoos of bones that aligned with every limb they were on and a body that stood almost 7 foot tall.
"Hey Hey Hey" he greeted, his Western accent thick and present in every word he spoke as he stomped towards us, he kept on walking towards me till his body was less than an inch away from mine, he looked down at me, his large body towering over me, every cell in my body was alert, ready for anything that might happen as our eyes locked on each other till he finally stepped back and let out a heavy chuckle.
"Damon of Howlcreek, what’s up?" He asked, I was shocked, I had seen him before but during our brief interaction, I had been in my wolf form so how did he recognize me?
"How did you —"
"Those eyes, I would never forget the look in those eyes." He answered with a wide grin, He stepped back and spread his large arms.
"Welcome Damon!, to my home. Welcome to the Thravasi!" He said, his booming voice reverberating in every corner of the woods.
His large cabin sat at the top of the largest tree in the forest, with spiraling stairs that led down to the ground and other smaller cabins. Inside, we sat on the floor with our legs crossed and our eyes fixed on each other, I and Carlos sat on one side while he sat on the other with a grin that seemed permanent displaying on his face.
"Where’s your Beta?" Carlos asked.
"The Thravasi don’t believe the Alpha needs protection." He answered calmly as twirled a pocket knife in his fingers.
"The Beta isn’t a bodyguard."
"Yet you stick to him like glue." He replied then turned his eyes back to me "What is wrong with you?"
"Your wolf, it’s weak, I can tell." He answered blankly as he put down the knife, I was surprised but at the same time I wasn’t, despite being called savages Thravasi wolves were incredibly smart and chose to live the way they lived because it was much more liberating.
"It’s nothing to worry about," I answered, a suspicious look crossed his face but he said nothing else.
"We’re here because we need your help." I continued, he looked at me but didn’t speak, allowing me to explain further "My pack is facing a threat that I fear is greater than us and an alliance with the Thravasi would greatly shift the tides in our favor."
"So you came here to beg for our help." He said harshly, Carlos squinted his eyes, obviously taking offense.
"My Alpha doesn’t beg," Carlos growled.
"Well, I don’t offer my help to people who don’t beg." He said as he rose to his feet. "It was nice to meet you but now you must leave." His words were filled with false kindness, We both stood up and looked at him.
"Will you beg?" He asked bluntly, I stepped forward.
"My Beta said it best, I don’t beg." I knew how much we needed them but I also knew how much they respected strength and despised weakness, the second I opened my mouth to beg would be the second they stopped seeing me as an Alpha and looked at me as nothing more than a beggar, he took a step closer to me and leaned a little so he’s face was on the same level as mine.
"Leave." Leo snarled and this time I knew it would be the last time that it would be a suggestion.
