Alpha Damon's Greatest Regret -
Chapter 48- The Eight
Chapter 48: Chapter 48- The Eight
DAMON~
The amount of energy that was in this room at this very moment was enough to bring about the fall of an entire city, 8 Alphas all in one room. Damon of Howlcreek, Benjamin of Coldfang, Jon of Whiteclaw, Chidi of NightHowl, Salvador of Wolfvein, Jakob of Redmoon, Sa’ad of Darkwind, and Timothy of Nights Shadow. Originally there were only ten Major packs spread all around the world with minor packs scattered around but Silver Hollow had risen in status, holdings, and power, making it the Eleventh pack to have the title of a major pack of the werewolf sector and now after the invasion and merge of GreyFure and Night-stone there now remained only nine packs with the title, behind each alpha stood their beta on their right side and advisor on the left, Most of the men in this room could barely tolerate each other but did solely for the sake of peace.
"What do you want Damon?" Jakob finally said, his deep black eyes locked on me, leaned back in my chair and stared right back at him.
"I called you all here because I need you," I answered calmly, making sure to leave out any traces of disrespect, I’m pretty sure I’ve never sounded this humble before, Sa’ad scoffed before he turned back to me.
"And why would we help you?" He hissed.
"Cause that would mean helping yourselves," I answered calmly.
"Is this about Simon?" Benjamin asked, his smooth English accent reminding me a little of Simon, his cold brown eyes focused on the rings displayed on his fingers.
"Yes."
"I’ll give you my answer so I can leave early, I plan to surrender to him," Benjamin said as he shifted his seat back and stood up.
"Coward!" Scott barked angrily.
"I may be a coward but you all are fools," Benjamin replied as he began walking out of the room, his beta and advisor following behind him.
"Don’t assume us fools simply cause we don’t fear an enemy." Timothy calmly interjected, his soporific voice calming the tense room, Benjamin turned to him.
"You didn’t see it, you didn’t see, I was there in that arena, I watched as he brought down a wolf bigger than mine and he didn’t even have to transform." He said, the faint presence of emotion in his voice I only heard when men thought they were about to die.
"So!" Scott shouted.
"I’m not strong enough!" Benjamin shouted "None of us are strong enough." his voice was a little calmer.
"Speak for yourself" Jon finally said then he stood up "I won’t fight with you Damon, I’m a leader, not a follower so I’ll lead my people to the end of the earth, and only when I see death as the only option will I relinquish my position as the Alpha of Whiteclaw," Jon said then he walked out the door but Benjamin still stood with his hand clenched so tight that his kneels dug into his palm causing small droplets of blood to fall unto the ground.
"You’ll lose this fight." He said then finally walked out the door. We remained six who sat in the room and the absence of two Alpha had done nothing to reduce the amount of animosity that filled the room.
"The two of them have a point, those are the only options we have," Salvador said.
"What exactly are the two options?" Sa’ad asked.
"Taking the sensible route, surrendering to an enemy that is clearly greater than you, or The glorified route, Fighting till your last breath." He answered calmly Then turned to me "Union with another pack, the second I say those words to my people they’ll stop seeing me as their Alpha, I’m sorry Damon but Wolfvein will make the decision when the enemy comes our way." He then proceeded to walk out of the room with his Beta and advisor following closely behind him.
"And then they were five," Timothy said.
"You all know this treat is bigger than us, but if we fight together blood won’t be wasted." I urged, as I spoke I felt the pressure of Scott’s eyes fixed on me, following every movement I made.
"What?" I asked.
"Do you know I’ve always admired you?" he asked, I was about to answer but he continued speaking.
"An Alpha at 16, one of the youngest in the history of our kind, You took the position after your father died with no opposition not just cause of blood but cause you deserved it and you didn’t mess it up, you lifted a pack that was on its last legs to top once more and you’ve kept it there for the longest time."
"And?" I asked wondering what exactly the point of that monologue was.
"That was why I thought you’d understand, I thought you’d understand that the pack’s safety should be the most important thing to an Alpha, not his pride."
"I’m doing this for the safety of my people."
"Are you?, think about it, do you really think Simon would be a bad Alpha or do you not just want to bend a knee?"
"It’s not about pride."
"It is, you’d allow your people to spill their blood ’cause you aren’t willing to give up a position you took to protect and lead them."
"That’s not true." I disagreed, slightly angered by his accusations.
"Now tell me, Damon, between you who wants to spill the blood of his people to remain in that position, or Simon who would rather take it without bloodshed, who do you think is the better Alpha?" Scott asked, I opened my mouth but words refused to come out, Scott had left me speechless, they all rose in unison and looked at me.
"Salvador was right, We only have two options, and joining you isn’t one of them, I wish you good fortune in the wars to come," Jakob said and they all gave a bow of courtesy and walked out leaving only I and Scott seated in the room.
"I disagree with Salvador, there is only one option." He said then stood up and walked out his Beta and advisor joining him to exit the room.
"Fuck!" I shouted as I slammed my fist into the table causing a dent in the dark metal.
"That was the worst-case scenario," Daniel sighed.
"What do we do now?" Carlos asked.
"There’s one more pack that wasn’t at this table," I said calmly.
"No." Carlos immediately objected as he rushed to my front "We can’t."
"What other options do we have?" I shouted exhaustedly.
"We’ll think of something!" Daniel desperately tried to convince me.
"We don’t have time! They are our only choice," I said, my voice low as I thought of the implications of asking for their assistance.
"We can’t."
"We must," I said.
"There are hundreds of smaller packs that’ll be glad to have our favor in exchange for their help."
"Do you trust them?" I asked skeptically and he couldn’t answer "Those bastards Alphas will put knives in our backs the second they see a better opportunity but then even if they are savages their word is gold, their loyalty is strong, if we have them on our side then we can win." I said and Daniel weakly stepped away, I turned to Carlos.
"Get in contact with them" I ordered and turned back to Daniel "Whether we like it or not we need their help. We need the Thravasi."
