Chapter 45: Chapter 45- Aura Of A Hurricane

EVAN BENTLY~

"Greyfure will be the first of many to fall. What happens when he turns his sight to us?" I asked the baldheaded men who sat around my table, they mumbled to themselves refusing to give me an answer but I expected that, I never expected anything from the company of fools, all they did was occupy seats and keep appearances. On the outside, they joined me to rule over Night-stone, but in reality, they were nothing but fillers in the command room.

"I’m the first female Alpha this world has ever seen and I’ll be damned if I let Simon take this from me." I declared as I slammed my fist into the table, it shook violently causing their exhausting mutters to become louder, draining me mentally, I let out a groan as I waved my hands and dismissed them.

"Fucking useless geezers." I cursed, Edward, my beta, and my elder brother stepped forward and placed his hands on my shoulders.

"They have their uses." He consoled me as he took one of the vacant seats and pulled it closer to me.

"Ed, Don’t let him take this from me," I said calmly, but my words were a plea, I didn’t want everything I had put up with just to get to where I am to become a waste.

"You know I’d die before that happens, Evy." He comforted me with a kind smile, I always liked it when he called me that and maybe he was the reason I had no interest in men, they would never measure up to the standards he had set. I stopped sulking and pushed myself away from the table as I rose to my feet.

"We need an alliance," I said, Ed raised a brow at me.

"We don’t do alliances, I trust that Damon would go on whatever he promises but Howlcreek is starting to look like the losing side of the coming war."

"Then let’s form one with Simon."

"No." He immediately disagreed.

"We have to." I urged.

"The second Simon hears our offer he’ll know we are scared of him and we’d become his next target," Ed explained, I groaned again, feeling cornered as I crashed back into my chair and just then there was a loud bang and the doors of the command room flew open, immediately the sound reached his ears Ed partially transformed, and took a fighting stance, standing in front of me to protect me from whatever it is that had just opened the door when he walked in.

"Simon," Ed growled, his nails extending further but Simon remained calm as he continued strutting into the room, Ed remained alert, his toenails digging into the hard floor, ready to spring at Simon at any moment.

"Can you tell him to relax?" Simon said as he placed his legs on the table and crossed them.

"Calm Ed." I said and he stepped back but he didn’t revert his transformation as he locked his eyes on Simon "What do you want?" I asked, his smile widened as he leaned further back in the chair and said.

"Straight to the point, I like that." He looked straight at me and with all seriousness said "Give up now and I’ll be the Alpha of Night-stone in name only, you retain command, you retain your seat and you retain your men, all you lose is your title.", I shifted in my suddenly uncomfortable seat as I tried to articulate the words that had just come out of his mouth.

"Why would I do that?" I asked boldly, his smile remained as if he had expected the question.

"Because if I take it, you’d lose everything.", his words sent cold shivers down my spine but I didn’t let it show instead I said.

"I’m not scared of you."

"No, you’re scared of losing that seat you’re currently on." He answered and my eyes widened, a mistake, he didn’t miss it "I’ve heard stories." he continued "Evan Bently, the undefeated, is it true you used to be challenged every week?"

"Yes," I answered hesitantly, his smile turned to a knowing smirk.

"And every time you won, you’ve fought for that seat and I’m not gonna be the one that takes it from you."

"You can’t, if you could, you would have marched here with an army and taken it," I replied, making sure to keep my calm and maintain control of the conversation.

"see the thing is, I know what it’s like to work that hard for something and I know how much it would hurt if I had it taken away from you, that’s why I came here with this offer."

"Or are you scared.", Immediately I said those words I knew I had fucked up, I had overplayed my hand. A horrendous grin curved his lips and he let out a wicked chuckle that sent shivers running through every inch of me.

"Scared!, of you??" He said, his voice hysterical as if he had just heard the funniest joke ever told.

"I—" I was about to speak but his loud laugh Interrupted me, it took a few minutes before he stopped and with a straight face he looked into my eyes and said.

"Girl, You’re strong but what’s a light breeze to a hurricane", the aura of this man wasn’t confidence, It was a certainty. My jaw tightened but I could think of nothing to say.

"My invasion of GreyFure had revealed my tactics to Howlcreek, I wouldn’t like to reveal anything else by attacking you, It wouldn’t be too much of a bother though. Think about it and give me an answer by the break of dawn or I’ll take that chair you love so much." He said then stood up and walked out of the command room, leaving me and Ed in otter and total disbelief, I had always thought the day I stopped being the alpha would be the day I died but somehow he had taken it all for me Without our hands so much as making contact.

"So that’s Simon Reverend," I exclaimed with wide eyes as I watched him walk out of the door.
