Alpha Damon's Greatest Regret -
Chapter 111- Dungeon
Chapter 111: Chapter 111- Dungeon
Damon’s pov
I was already blinded by anger that I couldn’t think of anything else. This was nothing but a betrayal of the highest order.
The drink’s sharp acrid taste lingered as if it were laced with something far more sinister than simple dishonesty. It was still coiling in my stomach like a warning burning down my throat. My hands tightened and my veins throbbed with controlled rage as I tightened my hold on the heavy crystal glass.
I had allowed her to come close to me and what I got was this.
Did she spike my drink with sleeping pills so we could have sex later on or did she add poison to it?
My head was swirling with lots of questions.
I forcefully hit the oak table with it. The room’s quietness was broken violently by the impact. Only a single droplet of the amber liquid that I had nearly drank splattered onto the wood. I looked at Trixie.
She didn’t wince. Not even for a split second.
But then I saw it. Something flashed in her dark brown eyes—guilt, fear perhaps both. But she quickly covered it up, her sensitive features hardening into another indifferent expression.
" Who were you speaking to?" I said in a low controlled voice with a steely edge.
Her lips parted a little as she blinked then forced a casual shrug.
" Nobody. I swear. Don’t you trust me?"
I wasn’t too familiar with her but I had committed to memory, every tremor in her body, every change in her breathing, and every moment of hesitation that revealed the truth. My boots grinding on the shards of glass as I took a step forward.
The sound was abrupt and sharp like the tension between us that was crackling. "You put something in my drink," I said observing her intently. "What is it?"
Trixie shook her head and laughed heartily. "You’re acting absurdly."
Just another lie. I clenched my jaw and cocked my head. "Am I?"
She stepped back a little.
Not fast but noticeable. Like she was planning how to get out. Sensing the change in the atmosphere, my weak wolf skulked beneath my skin, the deceit lingering like smoke. I hated this.
Now my voice was quieter but more menacing: "Who sent you?"
Trixie raised her chin in an attempt to look defiant. She couldn’t however look me in the eye.
"No one, Alpha Damon," she muttered.
I let out a sharp breath through my nose. I then made a move.
Before she could react my hand was on her wrist and I was in front of her in a flash. Her pulse throbbed quickly and irregularly against my fingertips, she was a liar.
"Tell me the truth," I demanded with a low growl.
My grip tightened just enough to hold her motionless as she tried to yank her hand back. My eyes fixed on her, making her uneasy.
Trixie swallowed hard.
"Leave me alone, Alpha Damon."
A pause.
Then her eyes went—for a moment only—to the door. A mistake. After I followed her gaze everything fell into place.
She was waiting for someone. My body began to change before I even made up my mind. My instincts took over my thoughts.
I quickly twirled her around, bending her arms behind her back. When I tightened my hold on her wrists, she let out a sharp gasp.
As she fought me, she gasped. It was no use fighting. I had more strength even though I was growing weaker. But who was she working with and what games were they planning to do to me and the pack?
It was now impossible to deny her betrayal.
"Trixie, I don’t know who you are or where you are from but you see I’m marveled at the courage you have to try to poison me and if you don’t call out who sent you, you won’t find it funny."
"I didn’t do anything."
With my breath blowing into her ear I bent down." No, you did."
I turned my gaze to the guards at the door. Their eyes were wide with uncertainty as they stood at attention.
They had arrived just moments ago and I wanted to punish them for their inability to observe what had happened.
I gave the order.
"Take her to the dungeons."
After a brief moment of hesitation, the guards moved. Trixie had been someone I thought I might like the first time I met her, I had thought she was just someone different but I never knew she was just another plan to assassinate me
And I couldn’t afford to be weak right now. With a final nod, one of them moved forward.
"Yes, Alpha.".
Trixies breath became labored and frantic.
"No," she said in a whisper. "No! Damon, you can’t do this!." She yelled louder. As the guards grabbed her arms and restrained her I released my grip.
Now her eyes were wild with desperation as she thrashed more violently.
"Damon please!" Her voice broke through the thick walls of my rage. You have to believe me when I say that I did nothing."
My chest tightened making it very impossible for me to breathe.
I was angry at myself, at the fact that I had trusted easily.
Daniel has to know the situation of things, that the girl he had brought to me had tried to poison me.
"Alpha Damon, please, I beg you." She choked out.
"You don’t understand."
My mouth tightened.
"Then make me. "
Her lips parted but nothing came out. . . There was only quiet.
The last piece of need I required. I walked away.
"Get her out of sight."
The guards dragged her to the door after nodding. She screamed my name, begged, and fought them the whole way.
"Alpha Damon." She cried as she tried to. fight off the guards but it was no use. "I’m innocent, I swear, I was only speaking to a friend on the phone."
Only speaking to a friend indeed and she had added something to my drink. What for of not to bring me down , she was working for someone who also wanted me dead.
