Chapter 404: Chapter 404: Have We Really Met Somewhere Before?

Li Hengze was dumbfounded.

Just now, he had been mocking Huang Yingya, but who would have thought that the real clown turned out to be her.

Huang Yingya, walking ahead, turned back to sneer at Li Hengze with disdain, then let out a sarcastic "hmph."

Li Hengze was sulking for quite a while, torn between getting someone to bring him some proper clothes or leaving altogether. He wasn’t interested in glamorous parties like this anyway. If he did care, his own family hosted plenty of these. And the moment he showed up at one, he would unquestionably be the center of attention.

So boring.

While he was hesitating, Huang Yingya mocked him again: "Wear whatever you’re comfortable in. Why care about other people’s opinions? You’re not the type who cares about what others think anyway."

Li Hengze didn’t like Huang Yingya’s tone, but he had to admit—she had a point.

He clenched his teeth and decided to go in anyway.

The party venue was beautifully decorated. All the gym equipment in the fitness hall had been pushed aside, leaving the center space open, carpeted, and adorned with cakes and red wine.

Li Hengze’s trainer walked over and, seeing how he was dressed, couldn’t help but chuckle: "Didn’t I tell you to dress up a bit for this?"

Li Hengze shot him a glare. "What, I don’t look good like this?"

"Uh... you look good, real good!" The trainer stifled his laughter, afraid of angering Li Hengze.

Turns out, everyone has a different idea of what "looking good" means.

Li Hengze added, "Why are all you gym folks dressed like corporate types?"

The trainer replied, "Today’s crowd consists of elite people from the fitness industry—owners of sportswear brands, chains of gyms, even extreme sports enthusiasts. There’s even a mountaineering club boss here."

At the mention of mountaineering clubs, Li Hengze frowned and muttered, "What kind of mess is this? I’ve heard people in mountaineering clubs are notorious for fooling around in relationships."

The trainer quickly hushed him: "Shh, don’t say that. Not every mountaineering club is like that. A lot of them are just gathered around a shared passion, like our gym. People always joke that once men reach a certain level in fitness, they start liking other men. Do you like men?"

Li Hengze coughed a few times: "I... I only admire men who are well-built, but not out of love. At least I don’t have any intention of sleeping with one."

Coincidentally, Huang Yingya walked by again and casually dropped a line: "If you like something, you should just say it confidently. Don’t keep hiding it."

Li Hengze was at a loss for words: "No, don’t misunderstand!"

Huang Yingya held her head high and walked away, heading straight to the sports brand boss and chatting enthusiastically.

Li Hengze wanted to go over and talk to her, but feared rejection and decided not to.

Right now, he only liked working out, not small talk. Besides, no one here knew he was the heir to the Li Group, so no one came over to network with him.

Even his trainer only knew him as a bar owner—wealthier than the average salaried worker, but still modest in comparison.

Li Hengze walked over to the drinks section alone, poured himself half a glass of red wine, and started sipping it by himself.

After this glass, he’d just head home.

You couldn’t chug red wine, especially since he was still in the fat-loss phase, so he could only drink it slowly, sip by sip.

He drank while observing the crowd.

What was supposed to be a gathering of fitness enthusiasts turned out to be full of people with ulterior motives, all desperately trying to gain recognition from some so-called "big names."

The boss chatting with Huang Yingya was clearly eyeing her with the predatory gaze of a man evaluating a woman.

Huang Yingya’s evening gown was tight-fitting. Although the neckline wasn’t low, her figure was superb, exuding an untamed beauty.

This woman was just his type.

Unfortunately, every time they met, she would provoke him, which clearly meant she didn’t have any good feelings toward him.

After finishing the wine, Li Hengze headed for the door.

"Leaving so quickly?"

It was Huang Yingya’s voice again.

Li Hengze was now utterly speechless when it came to Huang Yingya—why did every encounter involve her sharp tongue?

It was as if he owed her money.

"Yeah, got some stuff at home, need to leave early," Li Hengze turned back and replied.

Huang Yingya chuckled. "What a coincidence, I’m leaving too."

As she spoke, she followed him out.

Li Hengze felt puzzled: "You’re leaving so quickly too?"

"Yeah, dull party."

While talking, she quickly took the lead, moving even faster than him despite her high heels, and entered the elevator first.

At that moment, Li Hengze thought: Since she disliked him so much, might as well let her go down first.

But then, Huang Yingya called out from inside: "Are you coming in or not?"

Her commanding tone triggered an instinctive response in him—without thinking, he followed her into the elevator. It was almost subconscious, as if she were the queen and he the servant.

Li Hengze liked this feeling.

Of course, not everyone could speak to him like that—it had to be someone he found attractive.

The elevator contained just the two of them. Huang Yingya leaned casually, arms crossed, against the railing, radiating relaxation. Li Hengze, on the other hand, felt somewhat awkward.

Even though he knew she disliked him, he still looked for a topic: "Why do you say the party was dull? You seemed quite engaged just now."

Huang Yingya lifted her eyelids: "No prospects for collaboration—it’s naturally uninteresting."

"Aren’t you already working on a sports project collaboration?"

"That’s exactly why I’m here, looking for opportunities. Trying to make it bigger and better."

Li Hengze couldn’t help but ask: "So, are you looking for investment in venues or funding? If you need help, you can come to me."

Huang Yingya casually replied: "Oh, showing off your wealth, are you?"

"What do you mean, showing off?" Li Hengze felt unjustly accused and retorted: "You... I was just asking kindly, and you throw that at me. You have something against me or something? Did I ever wrong you?"

The elevator door opened, and Huang Yingya stepped out first. But after walking a few steps, she turned back and asked him: "Do you really not remember me?"

"Have we met before? Where? Can you clarify?" Li Hengze asked directly.

But Huang Yingya didn’t answer. She seemed angry, quickly found her car, got in, and sped off.

Li Hengze was utterly baffled.

He also got into his car. Seeing the time was still early, he called Wu Peng, "Where are you?"

"Playing snooker with Dong Xiangming and the others. Aren’t you hitting the gym tonight?"

"Nope. Where are you guys? I’ll come over now."

"At my place, hurry over."

Twenty minutes later, Li Hengze drove to Wu Peng’s house.
