Chapter 268: TAKING OVER
Chapter 268: TAKING OVER
Tonia walked into the Gils and Co company, a huge grin spreading across her face.
She strode confidently across the lobby, it’s her father’s company so she could do what she liked, if Zach was going to divorce her she could as well find her stand here.
Her eyes scanned the room until they landed on Mr. Jerkins, who was also just walking into the company.
Mr. Jerkins looked up, a hint of surprise on his face. "Mrs. Adam, to whom do I owe the surprise?" he asked, his voice friendly even though he didn’t like her one bite.
Tonia’s grin grew wider. "Good you are here, I am declaring an urgent meeting," she announced.
Mr. Jerkins’ eyes widened in alarm. "I am sorry, Mrs. Adam, but the chairman has ordered that no meetings be declared unless he is present."
Tonia let out a sly grin as she folded her hands against her chest, "I am his daughter, and he’s on a sickbed. Don’t you think I am supposed to know what’s going on in my father’s company?" she asked.
Mr. Jerkins bowed, his face pale. "I apologize, Mrs. Adam, but it can’t work that way... you haven’t shown interest In the company for long so I am afraid it’s different now."
Tonia nodded, her expression cold. "If it can’t work that way, then consider yourself fired from this company."
Mr. Jerkins’ eyes widened in shock. "But I have been the chairman’s assistant for years!" he protested. "How can you just fire me?"
Tonia’s face curled in anger, and she smacked Me. Jerkins across the face before he could even grasp her actions. The sound echoed through the lobby, causing a commotion as every attention diverted to them.
To make matters worse, shareholders from various companies that worked with the Gils and Co. rushed toward Tonia, bowing as they approached.
"We saw your message, Tonia," one of them said. "We all came here in a rush. Is anything the problem?"
Mr. Jerkins looked on in shock, his face pale. "How did you get their contact information?" he demanded.
Tonia Ignored his question, directing his gaze to the shareholders. "I am going to have a meeting with all of you, so let’s go into the conference room."
"What?" they all let out at once aware of Donald’s warning, "My dad is on a sick bed, do you still need more explanation?"
Hearing this they all swallowed hard, if the chairman was on a sick bed, then Tomia would be the next boss.
Then one of the shareholders, a tall, imposing man, turned to Mr. Jerkins. "You have no right to talk when she speaks," he growled. "After all, she’s the daughter of the chairman."
Mr. Jerkins looked like he was about to protest, but Tonia cut him off. "You see why you’re not needed, Mr. Jerkins? You don’t do your job well."
The shareholders nodded in agreement, and Mr. Jerkins looked like he was about to collapse. Tonia turned to the shareholders. "Let’s go into the conference room. We have a lot to discuss." She ordered that she walk for a few miles and then stop.
"I don’t want to meet you by the time I come out," she announced and then proceeded with the shareholders following suit leaving Mr. Jerkins standing alone in the lobby, his face pale and his eyes wide with shock.
Tonia walked into the conference room, surrounded by the shareholders and executives of the Gilbert company. She stood at the head of the table, a confident smile spreading across her face.
"Now that my father is on the sick bed, I believe I should be the one to take over," she announced, her voice firm and authoritative.
The room fell silent, with everyone staring at her in shock. "What do you mean? Isn’t declaring this intention of yours too fast?" one of the shareholders asked, his voice hesitant.
Tonia’s smile grew wider. "I said what I said," she related,
"I will be taking control of the company, effective immediately. And as my first act as the new head of the Gilbert company, I am putting all current projects and contracts on hold."
The room erupted into chaos, with everyone talking at once. "What about the Johnson deal?" one executive asked. "We can’t just pause that!"
Tonia held up her hand, silencing the room. "I have a new vision for the company," she said. "One that will take us in a bold new direction."
The shareholders exchanged skeptical glances. "What kind of direction?" one of them asked.
Tonia’s smile grew wider. "I want to focus on more... experimental projects," she said. "Projects that will push the boundaries of what’s possible."
The room fell silent again, with everyone staring at Tonia in confusion. "What kind of projects?" one of the executives asked.
Tonia’s eyes gleamed with excitement. "I want to invest in renewable energy," she said observing their reaction before she continued, her enthusiasm growing.
"And that’s not all. We will also need to contract a new building for the company. It’s all coming out of the company pocket, but trust me, it will be worth it."
She paused, a sly smile spreading across her face. "I plan on creating a new branch in Lenten. It’s a growing market, and I think we can make a killing there."
The room was silent, with everyone staring at Tonia in a mixture of shock and awe. She clapped her hands, and Nadine walked in, carrying a stack of files.
Nadine began distributing the files to them one after the other.
"These are the building plans we have in mind," she said, smiling confidently. "We’ve chosen a few different designs, but I think you’ll all agree that they’re top-notch."
The shareholders began to flip through the files, their faces expressionless. Tonia smiled, knowing that she had to win them over.
"Let me make one thing clear," she said, her voice persuasive. "If you work with me on this, I’m willing to offer you all a significant increase in shares. We’re talking about huge profits, people."
She leaned forward, her eyes locked on the shareholders. "I know this is a risk, but I am willing to take it. And I am willing to reward those who take it with me."
The shareholders looked at each other, seemingly unsure of what to do. Tonia pressed on, knowing that she had to close the deal.
"Let’s be real, people," she said. "We’re not just talking about a new branch in Lenten. We’re talking about a whole new market. We’re talking about expansion, growth, and profit."
She smiled, her eyes glinting with determination. "So what do you say, people? Are you with me?"
They all exchanged glances unsure of what to say until then the door opened and Mr. Jerkins walked in majestically.
"Hey!" Tonai yelled angrily, "Didn’t I just fire you?"
"Well, you did but I rehired him, any problem with that?" Everyone turned to the voice and it was none other than Astrid.
