Accidental Marriage With Mr Billioniare -
Chapter 269: IT YOUR CHOICE
Chapter 269: IT YOUR CHOICE
The room turned mute at Astrid’s words, everyone could tell how many backups Astrid had behind her and not to dare say words that would put them in trouble especially not with the Logans.
Tonia on the other hand turned to Astrid, not bothering to hide the hatred she has for Astrid just by seeing her.
"You have no right being here," she spat. "Get out, before I ask the guards to throw you out."
Astrid smiled serenely, not fazed by Tonia’s Words she didn’t have the heart to fight with her after all she was older but she couldn’t promise this time around because Tonis was beginning to cross her limits.
"The last time I checked, I am the granddaughter of Gilbert, the daughter of his first daughter," she said, her voice dripping with confidence. "I have every right to be here."
Tonia’s body trembled in rage, this was the exact reason she had been finding a way to kill her sister since their childhood days when her nightmare was coming to pass.
"But, I am his daughter," she snapped.
Astrid shrugged. "That may be true, and not here to fight with you, Tonia. I am just here to attend this meeting, just like everyone else."
Tonia took a step forward, her eyes flashing with anger. "You are not welcome here," she snarled.
"And did you just say may? Astrid, you are crossing your limit these days." Astrid grinned from ear to ear.
"Are you pissed just by that word? Oh.... Is it true?" Tonia’s eyes widened and before things could escalate further, Rowan walked into the room, his eyes scanning the space before coming to rest on Tonia.
"The last time I checked, Grandfather never invited you to these meetings," he announced.
"So why are you trying to take over now that he’s sick?"
Astrid smiled, moving closer to Tonia, and took her seat closer to her.
"This is a family issue, and I would rather not have the whole company witness our drama," Astrid said, her voice smooth as silk. "Why don’t we just sit down like civilized humans and continue the meeting?"
Tonia was speechless, her face pale with rage. Rowan took a seat beside Astrid, his eyes never leaving Tonia’s face.
Astrid turned to Tonia, her eyes sparkling with challenge. "Proceed with the meeting, Tonia. I am sure we’re all eager to hear your plans."
Tonia’s eyes narrowed, but she seemed to compose herself, collecting the files from Nadine, who had been watching the exchange with interest.
But just as Tonia was about to begin, Astrid spoke up, cutting her short"Oh, wait, let me just take a look at these files."
She flipped through the pages, her eyes scanning the contents before coming to rest on a particular page.
"Hmm, isn’t this interesting?" she asserted with a sneaky smile.
She threw the file to the ground, the pages scattering everywhere making everyone gasp in shock.
"Astrid! This is some hard work. How could you just disregard it that way?" Tonia fired, and Astrid snorted at this.
"How come the design of this building looks suspiciously like the work of the famous architect, Ryder Thompson?"
The room fell silent, everyone’s eyes widening in shock as they scrambled to pick up the pages and examine them for themselves.
Tonia scoffed, her face turning red."If you’re trying to ruin my reputation, Astrid, you’re going to have to try harder than that."
She smiled, her eyes flashing with confidence. "Nadine here is the daughter of the late Josh, and Josh was once a partner with Ryder Thompson. It’s only natural that their designs would be similar."
Astrid smirked, her eyes glinting with amusement. "The last time I checked, I grew up with Josh, and he never drew a single design in his life, the same way Nadine has no idea what architecture is."
She leaned forward, her voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "He hired young architects who needed a leg up to ghostwrite his designs."
Nadine’s face went pale, seeing how Astrid was embarrassing her late father.
"How dare you talk about my father like that?" she spat.
Astrid turned to her, "I am not surprised you are already switching sides, Nadine. You were always ambitious."
The shareholders began murmuring among themselves, their faces filled with concern. Some of them pulled out their phones, scrolling through the internet to verify Astrid’s claims.
As the room erupted into chaos, Astrid leaned back in her chair, a satisfied smirk on her face. "Isn’t she a model?" she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "What’s she doing trying to pass off someone else’s design as her own?"
Nadine tried to speak up, but Astrid cut her off. "Mr. Jenkins, I think it’s time we threw her out of the company, a brat like her who doesn’t know when to show respect is not needed here."
Tonia stood up, her face pale with rage. "I am the next chairman, and you will all listen to me," she argued standing in front of Mr Jerkins who couldn’t wait to repeat what she had done to him an hour ago.
Astrid nodded, not in the mood to bicker around, "I am not interested in being chairman, Tonia. But one thing’s for sure you can’t be the next chairman."
She leaned forward, her voice taking on a deadly tone. "This project is dead in the water. If the design is fake, what about the construction? Who’s to say that’s not fake too or maybe has a hidden agenda?"
Tonia slammed her hands on the table, "Who will you listen to, me or Astrid?" she demanded, her voice echoing through the room. Astrid was winning the men over but by big and she couldn’t let that happen.
The shareholders swallowed hard, their eyes darting nervously between Tonia and Astrid.
"Mr. Jenkins!" I called and he immediately moved toward Nadine.
"Out of this company!" Astrid ordered Mr. Jerkins without another word escorted Nadine out not after a series of glares she shot at Astrid.
Astrid just sat there like she was uninterested in the whole situation until her phone buzzed, she pulled it out of her bag and then typed on it.
Astrid chuckled loudly that everyone present wanted to know what message she had received.
She looked up to see all eyes directed at her. "The president just sent me a message," she said, her face filled with satisfaction, the news had come at the right time.
"It seems we have just bagged a contract with the government to collaborate on a new project."
The room erupted into murmurs of excitement and interest. One of the best collaborations that brings profit to them all is collaborating with the government, it takes a while for It, and when it does they gain much.
Astrid continued, her voice rising above the din. "We will be in charge of the construction, and this project will bring in a huge profit for us."
Just then, the door opened, and Samuel walked in, a smile on his face.
"Samuel and I have been working on this project for weeks now," I said, and Samuel’s eyes shone in shining with excitement. Most times he works he doesn’t get credit since he has no backup, or powerful people but ever since he started working with Astrid she would always make sure to give him accolades.
"It’s finally been approved after several reviews, and the land is ready for us to begin construction," Samuel added and Astrid nodded, her eyes gleaming with satisfaction.
"This project will not only bring in a huge profit, but it will also give us a chance to work with the government and establish ourselves as a major player in the industry."
She paused, her eyes scanning the room. "And as a token of our appreciation for your support, I would like to offer you all a reward."
The shareholders looked at each other, their faces filled with excitement and anticipation.
Astrid smiled, hoping this would make them change their minds."But I am afraid it’s not going to be a straightforward reward. You see, I believe in making people work for what they want."
She gestured to Samuel, who began to distribute documents to the shareholders.
Astrid’s eyes scanned the room, her gaze lingering on each face. "So, I will ask you again: will you support Tonia’s project, or will you support mine?"
The shareholders looked at each other, their faces filled with uncertainty.
Astrid’s voice was cold and detached. "It’s your choice. But choose wisely."
She turned to Tonia, her eyes glinting with amusement. "And as for you, Aunt Tonia... it would be a huge advantage if you were to support me."
Tonia’s face went pale, there was no way she wanted to be seen working under her she had always seen Astrid as a nobody working under her lmis like an embarrassment.
Astrid’s smile grew wider. "But if you’re not... and you’re still bent on pursuing your selfish interests... I will make sure to destroy you."
The room fell silent, the only sound the rustling of papers as the shareholders began to sign the documents.
