Chapter 264: HE IS MAD AT HER
The car finally came to a halt in front of the house and Julsin alighted from the car, he noticed Astrid wasn’t getting down herself so he helped her do so.
She smiled, taking his arms, and slighted but the moment he shut the door he yanked his hands from her storming inside.
"Julian!" Astrid called as she also hurried into the house, her feet pounding against the floor as she struggled to keep up with Julian’s swift pace.
"Hey, you don’t have to be mad at me," she called out, her breathless voice echoing through the hallway. "It was the only choice I had to make."
Julian didn’t slow down or respond. Instead, he stormed ahead, his long strides consuming the distance.
"Julian! Slow down!" She called after him but all she got was silence from him.
As they entered the foyer, Julian snapped his fingers, and the guards stationed around the room sprang to attention.
"From now on, she won’t leave this house without one of you accompanying her!" Julian barked.
"If anything happens to her, even just a scratch, I promise you will go through hell."
The guards nodded in unison, their faces set in stern expressions. "Yes, sir!" they chorused.
Astrid’s eyes met Julian’s, but he refused to look at her. He turned and strode up the stairs, his movements swift and purposeful.
Astrid followed as they reached the top of the stairs, Julian pushed open the door to their bedroom and strode inside before it was closed she got inside also.
"Julian, fine I am sorry." She apologized but Julian still proceeded with the silent treatment.
Instead, he pulled off his jacket and tossed it onto the bed, angry.
She took a step closer, her hand reaching out to touch his arm. "Julian, please talk to me," she begged.
But he turned his back on her, pulling off his shirt to reveal his singlet underneath.
Astrid, already frustrated, pushed him forward, her hands on his back, and Julian stumbled slightly before regaining his balance.
This time he turned to her, "What do you want to hear from me, exactly?" he growled.
Astrid’s eyes locked onto his, her voice trembling, "I needed to do something fast about Mattie," she said. "She is planning to destroy Zach."
Julian’s expression didn’t change. He shrugged, his shoulders barely moving. "That’s their problem to fix, not mine."
Astrid’s mouth was left ajar, "They are my family now," she exclaimed. "How is that not your concern? Miles is also your best friend."
Julian didn’t respond. He turned and walked away, pulling out his phone to type out a message. Astrid’s eyes narrowed.
She snickered, her voice barely above a whisper. "I knew it," she said, "You are not going to do anything because Mattie is involved right."
Julian looked up, his eyes meeting Astrid’s. For a moment, they just stared at each other, as the whole room tensed up.
Astrid’s smile was bitter, her eyes flashing with hurt. "Of course, it’s because of Mattie," she said again, seeing how he reacted to hearing her name. "That’s all you care about." she let out as she turned her back on him, wiping away the tears that threatened to fall.
But Julian’s next action made her jump in fright. He smashed his phone angrily on the ground, the sound of shattering glass echoing through the room. Astrid spun around, her eyes almost bulging out as she stared at Julian and the ruined phone.
"Julian..." Astrid whispered, her voice trembling with shock. But Julian’s expression was cold, his gaze piercing through her like a dagger.
Astrid felt a shiver run down her spine as he directed that gaze at her, it was a look that scared her, she didn’t like it when he gave her this look.
She was used to his loving side, not this angry, menacing stranger standing before her
"What the fuck is your problem with Mattie?" Julian yelled, his voice thundering through the room.
"Why the fuck do you always assume that my reaction already means I care for Mattie? Why is our conversation always surrounded by her?"
Astrid took a step back, her eyes wide with fear as Julian moved closer, her lips trembling. "Stay back," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
But Julian didn’t stop. "Mattie, Mattie, Mattie!" he screamed, his face red with rage.
"I am sick of it! I have told you several times, I don’t care what the hell she does to her. She deserves it. What exactly do you want?"
Astrid’s eyes welled up with tears as Julian’s words cut through her like a knife. She felt like she was being ripped apart, her heart torn into a million pieces.
"Pl... please St... Stop, I don’t like this side of you," Astrie let out.
"You don’t? I don’t either!"
"I am screaming at you because you’re not listening!" Julian yelled, his voice echoing off the walls.
"I am doing everything to make you forgive me, to make you know that I love you. But all you care about is how to remind me that I miss Mattie."
Astrid’s tears spilled over, streaming down her face as she looked down, her heart shattered into a million pieces.
"If you’re not going to listen to me if you’re not going to believe that I don’t love Mattie anymore," Julian said, his voice detached, "then we can just end our relationship and go our separate ways."
Astrid’s head snapped up, and her eyes flashed in horror. She shook her head, her mouth opening to protest, but Julian was already turning away.
He picked up his shirt, "I am done," he said, his voice dripping with finality.
Astrid felt a wave of panic wash over her as Julian stormed out of the room. "Julian! What do you mean, done?" She yelled as she ran after him, calling out his name, but he didn’t stop. He didn’t even slow down.
"Come back! Please! Let’s talk! I am sorry!" Astrid called out but he just walked out of the house, slamming the door behind him.
Before Astrid could reach outside she heard the roar of his car engine and saw the flash of headlights as he sped away, leaving her standing alone in the driveway, her heart shattered into a million pieces.
