Chapter 253: YOUR NIGHTMARE
Chapter 253: YOUR NIGHTMARE
Mattie was finally being discharged from the hospital, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease.
Her father was nowhere to be found, and Tonia had been acting weird around her as Astrid had mentioned.
Mattie’s eyes narrowed as she watched her mother fuss over the discharge papers.
"Where’s Dad?" Mattie asked, for the tenth time in roll her voice tinged with frustration.
Tonia hesitated, her eyes darting nervously around the room. "He’s... um... busy, sweetie. We can go see him now."
Mattie’s eyes rolled in exasperation. She knew her mother was hiding something, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
Just then, Miles walked into the room, a file clutched in his hand. "Hey, I have got some good news. Everything’s been sorted out, and you’re free to go."
Mattie’s eyes lit up with excitement, but her gaze quickly turned skeptical.
"Miles, why didn’t Dad come to visit me?" she asked again, her voice firm.
Miles hesitated, his eyes flicking to Tonia before returning to Mattie. "Dad’s... um... busy cleaning up the mess you caused," he said, his tone neutral.
Mattie’s face darkened with anger. "I didn’t cause any mess! Astrid’s the one who’s been causing all the trouble!"
But Tonia butted in, her voice soothing. "Let’s not discuss this here, Mattie. We should leave the hospital room."
But before they could make a move, the Rays walked into the room. Stephan’s mother’s eyes locked onto Mattie, and her face twisted with rage.
"You!" she spat with rage.
"You’re the reason my son is fighting for his life! He’s still in a coma because of you! He isn’t getting better because of you!"
She sprinted toward Mattie and hand shot out, slapping Mattie across the face. Mattie’s eyes widened in shock as the woman continued leaving everyone speechless.
"You’re a devil, Mattie! You’ve destroyed our family’s reputation and ruined the friendship between our families! You will pay for what you’ve done, you evil girl!" This time she grabbed Mattie’s hair, dragging it.
Miles and Tonaeywa winded as they rushed into the scene, trying to help Mattie.
But Mrs. Ray’s grip on Mattie was too strong. "Stop it! Let her go!" Miles yelled, struggling with the two females.
But she refused to back down, she hit down on Mattie’s neck and Msttie would only cry out in pain.
It took Miles and Tonia’s combined efforts to finally pry the woman’s hands off Mattie.
"Get her out of here! I will talk to them!" Tonia’s voice echoed and Mattie kept crying:
As they stumbled out of the hospital room, Mattie’s face was streaked with tears and her cheek throbbed with pain. Miles quickly ushered her to the parking lot, where Maren was waiting for him.
Mattie’s eyes narrowed as she took in Maren’s presence. "What is she doing here?" Mattie asked, her voice cold, she still believed Maren was also one of the causes of her disaster.
Maren smirked, her eyes glinting with amusement. "I don’t think that’s your problem, Mattie."
Maren handed Miles a file, "I won’t let anyone insult me and get away with it, so have a good day" Maren said, going to the car but Miles quickly ran after her.
"Maren, I am sorry please wait." he apologized quickly as he grabbed her arms.
Mattie shot them a bit with a deadly glare. "You are more concerned about her than me? I am your sister, Miles!"
Miles’ expression turned cold, as he shot her a scowl, "Julian may have condoned your silly actions when you wronged Astrid, but I won’t. If you’re going to continue being a brat, then so be it. We’re not related in any way that matters,"
Maren smirked, her tongue darting out of her lips. Mattie’s eyes widened in shock, "Her? That slutty bitch you never want against me?" Mattie cried out and this annoyed Miles
Before Miles could control himself he slapped her, the sound echoed through the parking lot.
"How could you?" Mattie asked as she touched her cheek, her voice trembling with pain.
Miles’ expression was unyielding. "I am done coddling you, Mattie. You need to grow up and take responsibility for your actions."
As Mattie stood there, stunned and hurt, Miles turned to Maren and helped her into the car. "A car will come pick you and Mom up," Miles said. "You can settle yourselves that way."
With that, Miles and Maren got into the car and drove off, leaving Mattie standing alone in the parking lot.
"Miles! Get back here! You can’t just leave me here! You will
Revert dating that bitch!" she cried out as she stomped her feet continuously on the ground.
But something else caught her attention. Mattie’s eyes widened in horror as the camera flashes blinded her, the reporters closing in on her like vultures. She tried to run away, but they were too fast, surrounding her with their microphones and cameras.
"Mattie, is it true that your mom cheated on your dad?" one of the reporters yelled, shoving a microphone in her face.
Mattie’s face burned with embarrassment as she tried to cover her face with her hands. "Get out of here! How dare you accuse my mom of that?"
But the reporters wouldn’t let up. "Is it true that you’re not an Adam? Is it true that the real Adam is Astrid?" another reporter asked, his camera flashing in her eyes.
Mattie’s eyes widened in shock, her mind reeling from the accusations. She felt like she was being attacked from all sides, with no way to defend herself.
The reporters continued to barrage her with questions, their cameras flashing in her eyes, making her feel like she was being blinded. "Are you always like this? Are you always pretending?" one of them asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Mattie couldn’t take it anymore, tears rolled down her eyes. She tried to run away, but the reporters chased after her, their cameras and microphones still flashing and yelling. She felt like she was being hunted, with no way to escape.
Just when she thought she was going to collapse from the embarrassment and stress, a car pulled up in front of her. Without thinking twice, she jumped inside, slamming the door shut behind her.
The car drove off, leaving the reporters and their cameras behind. Mattie collapsed back in her seat, her heart pounding with fear.
As she caught her breath, she looked up and asked, "Where have you been? Why were you late?"
But the voice that responded was not the chauffeur’s. "You sure you’re talking to your chauffeur?" the voice retorted.
Mattie’s eyes widened as she turned to her side, there she saw Landon sitting beside her. Her eyes locked onto his, her mind racing with fear and confusion.
"Who are you?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Landon smirked, enjoying the shock and fear in her eyes "I am your nightmare, Mattie. Ever heard of Landon?"
