Accidental Marriage With Mr Billioniare -
Chapter 192: THE GAME
Chapter 192: THE GAME
It’s been three days of Astrid being in the hospital and Julian stared at Astrid as he fed her quietly, wondering if she was still mad at him.
She had refused to say a word, and the silence between them was starting to get uncomfortable.
He had just finally convinced her to eat, and she only agreed there was no way he planned to disrupt that opportunity now.
"What?" she mumbled about snatching the spoon from him but he held on to it tightly.
After a while, Astrid finally broke the silence. "When is the marriage with Mattie going to take place?" she asked, her voice devoid of emotion.
Julian was taken aback by the question. "Why?" He asked in shock.
"I thought the marriage wouldn’t go through," he replied, trying to gauge her reaction.
Astrid’s expression turned irritated. "Are you trying to protect her again?" she asked, her voice laced with annoyance.
Julian quickly shook his head. "No, I am just surprised that you still want the marriage to go on."
Astrid’s eyes seemed to gleam with a mischievous spark. "Well I have a good surprise for her," she said, her voice dripping with malice.
Julian’s curiosity was piqued, but before he could ask any questions, Astrid changed the subject.
"I need you to get the footage from the hospital," she said, her voice firm.
Julian was about to respond, but Astrid cut him off. "Do whatever you can to get it. I know someone powerful has tampered with it, and that’s why we can’t get it." Astrid explained further.
"Why? All of a sudden? Is this related to Rowan?" he asked with his fist tightening.
"Because I want to find out more about my mum’s death," she answered.
Julian’s mind was racing. He had never really cared about the footage, but now he was starting to get curious.
"Fine, then I will do so," he pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
"Hey," he said, his voice firm. "I need you to get something for me."
The caller hesitated on the other end of the line. He was able to trace Julian’s call down to the hospital.
"What is it, boss?" he asked.
"I need you to get the footage from the hospital," Julian replied. "I don’t care what it takes, just get it."
Mark hesitated again. "Boss, I can tell you are in the hospital right now. So how come you want me to meet you there when you hardly ever ask to meet up?"
Julian cut him off. "I don’t pay you to make excuses, I pay you to get results. Now, are you going to get me that footage or do I need to find someone else who can?"
His tone changed immediately. "Yes, sir. I will meet up with you and get it for you."
Julian’s eyes narrowed. "I want it on my desk within a few hours," before he could respond Julian hung up the phone and turned to Astrid, who was watching him with an intense gaze.
She couldn’t help but wonder how she hit this powerful man to bow to her words.
Just then, Astrid spoke up again, her voice casual. "I heard the news about Mattie and me being sisters."
Julian’s eyes widened in shock as he stared at Astrid. "Sisters?" How did you know?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Astrid’s expression was serene, Julian might be stupid for love but not when it comes to serious issues so she is going to trust him with this.
"Rowan told me."
Julian’s eyes narrowed, his mind racing with questions. "How did Rowan find out?" he asked, his voice laced with anger.
Astrid’s eyes seemed to gleam with amusement. "Rowan has a close relationship with my mom."
Julian’s anger was boiling over, but Astrid’s next words stopped him cold.
"Find out more about it, Julian," she said, her voice firm. "And remember, if you dare betray me, you will regret it."
Julian chuckled at this, how his word had been turned to him by the lady his heart was thumping for.
"What do you mean?" Julian asked, having a teasing look on his face.
Astrid’s smile was cold and calculating. "You are a man of power, so I know how crazy you can be when playing some games."
Julian nodded his head at this nor argued anymore as he changed the topic even though he still couldn’t wrap his head around the news of Mattie and Astrid.
Julian’s eyes followed Astrid as she pulled out her phone, and typed it, she was done eating now.
And he finally asked the question that was bothering him, "When will you be discharged?"
Just then, Dr. Lee walked into the room, a friendly smile on his face. However, as he took in the scene before him, his expression faltered, and he stopped dead in his tracks.
Astrid, sensing his hesitation, called out to him, "Dr. Lee, please come in."
Dr. Lee’s eyes darted to Julian before returning to Astrid. "Of course, Mrs Logan," he said, his voice warm and reassuring. "I didn’t mean to interrupt."
Astrid didn’t bother correcting him anymore regarding her last name. "I want my privacy to be kept hidden for a while, being in the hospital," she announced and Dr. Lee nodded understandingly.
"Yes, of course. Your privacy will be respected,"
Dr. Lee continued, "Mrs Logan, your wound isn’t too severe. If you want to get discharged, you can... but your reaction and emotional stability matter the most right now."
Julian nodded, his eyes locked on Astrid. "When you’re discharged and have someone to protect you at home, I hope you will heal faster."
"I never said I wanted to get discharged now," she corrected him, but he rolled his eyes.
"You can’t stay here forever Astrid, you got work too..." he reminded her and Astrid thought back on it.
She already got the information she needed. It would be best for her to go home and recover in a comfortable environment. She can also now reach out to Dr. Lee if she needs more news.
"Fine, if that is the best decision I should get discharged," she announced, and Julain stood up.
"I should get the document ready then," he announced.
As Julian left the ward with Dr. Lee, to fill in the discharge form, Maren walked in, a look of concern etched on her face.
"Astrid, I heard you are getting discharged, what’s your next plan?" she asked, her voice soft.
She had just gotten back from her company since Astrid told her to do so not to keep wasting her time with her because of her show.
Astrid’s eyes narrowed, a determined glint in their depths. "Julian is going to find out more about the footage. I need to know more."
Maren’s eyes widened in awe. "Julian cares so much about you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper as she smiled. "He doesn’t even care about Mattie, and he’s ready to do anything to make you pleased."
Astrid scoffed, a bitter laugh escaping her lips. "Says the one who had refused to talk to him for days." Maren rolled her eyes at this.
"You can’t blame me for that," she argued and Astrid smiled.
"I still can’t trust him with my heart," she said, her voice laced with emotion. "But I will make sure to use him to make Mattie go crazy."
Maren’s eyes sparkled with amusement. "You’re going to play him like a fiddle, aren’t you?" she asked, a sly grin spreading across her face.
Astrid’s smile was cold and calculating. "I will do whatever it takes to get what I want,"
Maren nodded, a look of understanding on her face. "About the pregnancy," she said, her voice soft. "Are you sure Stephan is the father?"
Astrid’s eyes flashed with anger. "I’m positive," she spat. "Mattie thinks she’s so clever, but I will expose her for the liar she is and make her marriage ceremony so interesting."
Maren pulled out a phone from her pocket and handed it to Astrid. "This is the new phone you wanted me to get," she said. "It’s a burner phone, untraceable."
Astrid’s eyes lit up with excitement as she took the phone. "Thank you, Maren," she said, her voice sincere.
Astrid’s eyes sparkled with mischief as she pulled out her old phone and then input the number she had saved earlier.
She quickly typed out a message on the new phone and sent it to Mattie’s number.
"Hi... hope you had a lovely day?" the message read. "Well, I get to find out little secrets about you, regarding your pregnancy. Wait till morning, I would love to talk to you."
Astrid’s smile was triumphant as she looked up at Maren. "This is just the beginning," she added.
Maren’s eyes widened in awe, a look of admiration on her face. "Now that is the girl I have always wanted," Maren exclaimed with a proud look on her face.
