Accidental Marriage With Mr Billioniare -
Chapter 191: THE ARRANGEMENT
Chapter 191: THE ARRANGEMENT
Tonia’s car pulled up in front of the Logan mansion, and she and Mattie stepped out. Mattie took in a deep breath, "Mum... you sure this is a good idea?" Mattie asked, staring at her mum. She had some weird feeling that there was something not adding up, but she just couldn’t place her hands on it.
"Darling, you don’t have to be worried. I am here for you and I will make sure it all goes according to plan." Tonia assured her daughter.
As they walked towards the entrance, they met Becky and Desmond on their way out.
Becky’s eyes narrowed as she took in Tonia’s determined expression. "What are you doing here, Tonia?" she asked bluntly, not trying to hide her bitterness for Tonia.
"Don’t talk to me like that, Becky... I am here to discuss Mattie’s situation." Tonia let out already pissed off.
Becky raised an eyebrow. "What situation?"
Tonia’s voice rose. "You know exactly what I’m talking about. Mattie is still a model, and she’s been knocked up by your precious Julian. Instead of rushing the marriage, you are all dragging your feet."
Desmond stepped forward, his eyes calm. "Tonia, we can’t force Julian and Mattie to get married. They’re adults, and they need to make their own decisions."
Tonia’s face turned red with rage as she fired at them"How can you be so heartless?"
"Don’t you want to protect your daughter from the stigma of being an unwed mother?"Becky fired back and this left the mother and daughter speechless.
"Wow! I love the fact that you are showing your colors since you know Astrid is the daughter of your deaf best friend."
Becky’s expression turned cold. "Mattie should have thought of that before she got knocked up by her cousin’s husband."
Tonia’s eyes widened in outrage, and she took a step closer to Becky, her hand raised. But Becky was quicker, grabbing Tonia’s wrist and pushing her back.
"Don’t ever raise your hand to me again, Tonia," Becky warned, her voice icy. "This is the last time I will tolerate your disrespect."
Mattie stepped forward, her eyes welling up with tears. "Mom, please. Can’t we just talk about this calmly?"
But Becky’s expression didn’t soften. "There’s nothing to discuss, Mattie. You have made your bed, now lie in it."
Tonia’s face twisted in anger, and she turned to Mattie. "Come on, Mattie, we are leaving, but be sure to know that you will be the topic of tonight... no one will dare mess with my child and scot-free."
As they turned to leave, Desmond called out, "Tonia, wait."
Desmond’s voice cut through the tension. "We shouldn’t end things like this. We’ve been family friends for a while. We can gently sort things out."
"Yes... Dad... thanks for this, I only got pregnant because I had thought Julian loved me," Becky snorted at this, the fact that Mattie was good at pretending was what left her speechless.
"Whatever your decision is... that shouldn’t be a concern for me, if my son approves then fine but if he doesn’t... Your luck, no like we are sure the baby is his." Mattie gulped down nervously at this. She can’t let Becky know about her cheating with Stephan.
"How could you say wrong about my daughter that way!?"
But before they could continue, Donald walked into the living room, his presence commanding attention. Everyone’s eyes widened in surprise.
Becky’s voice trembled. "Uncle Donald, what are you doing here?"
Donald ignored her question, his gaze fixed on Tonia and Mattie. "Why is Mattie with you, Tonia? Don’t you want to protect the family reputation that Zach worked so hard to build?"
Tonia’s face darkened with anger. "Dad! She is your granddaughter. The least you can do is help with all these and put this silly family in their place."
Donald’s expression remained unreadable as he turned to Becky. "I heard what you did, Becky."
Becky’s eyes dropped, her voice barely above a whisper, she already thought about how she had messed with the wedding.
"I am sorry, Julian wouldn’t listen, and I didn’t want to put Mattie through another sham."
Tonia and Mattie exchanged a confused glance. Mattie’s voice trembled. "What are you talking about?"
Becky’s eyes met Mattie’s. "Julian’s marriage to Astrid... it was all a setup. I planned it."
The room fell silent, the only sound was Mattie’s shocked gasp. Tonia’s face turned red with rage, her fists clenched. Mattie stumbled backward, her eyes wide with horror.
Tonia’s voice was low and menacing. "You are going to pay for this, Becky."
But before Tonia could attack, Mattie collapsed to the ground, sobbing uncontrollably. Tonia rushed to her side, helping her up.
"How could you!" Tonia spat at Becky.
"I have a valid reason for doing that though, or would Mattie like to explain all these to her mother."
But Donald’s voice stopped them. "Then we will need to arrange for the wedding. Julian has accepted, and it will happen as soon as possible."
Tonia’s expression changed from anger to shock, and then to elation. "Really?"
Donald nodded. "Yes. Let’s get started."
As they sat down to discuss the wedding arrangements.
Mattie slipped out of the mansion, her eyes streaming with tears. She got into the car, her body shaking with sobs.
She can’t believe the whole thing has been a lie. She pulled out her phone and dialed Stephan’s number, but he didn’t pick up. She tried again, but still, no answer.
In desperation, she dialed Julian’s number, she wanted to know if he also knew the truth. After a few rings, a voice picked up.
"Hello?"
"And why would Julian be receiving a call from this caller," came Astrid’s Voice.
Mattie’s anger flared up. "Why do you have Julian’s phone? Why are you still with him this morning"
Astrid’s voice was sweet and mocking. "Julian’s in the shower. He left his phone with me."
Mattie’s voice rose. "What? How! Why are you with him?"
Astrid’s laughter echoed through the phone. "Be careful, or you might just end up hurting yourself." With that Astrid ended the call with a satisfied smirk as she handed Julian’s phone to him.
